I swim in a 25 meter pool daily. I take about 16 to 18 strokes per length and I am hurting when I do my 100’s on 1:45. There is always room for improvement, I continue to work hard to lower my intervals. You are such an inspiration and I really appreciate your videos, they’ve helped me a lot. Your swim is incredible and it does not look like you’ve lost much swim fitness at all.

After seeing this I did a (very) basic "feeler' today with a tempo trainer and poolside lap clock. I did 2x 100m (25m pool) each at 56, 60, 64 and 68 strokes per minute. Times were fairly consistent for both 100m swims at the various stroke counts. 1m45s @56strokes, then about 1m40@60strokes and about 1m37 for both 64 and 68 stroke per minute with fatigue and perceived effort ramping up for the 68. I have found however that I can't hold these stroke rates for that long. In my last 30 min swim I managed to hold 56 strokes per minute consistently but no idea of the distance or times per 100 for this (I only had a clock and a tempo trainer and am not good at counting lengths!😅)

I really like the idea of the tempo trainer but it’s really hard to sync my stroke to the tempo. I guess I just need to use it more….

Wouldn't HR be a better indicator than perceived effort?

Nice Video ; can you please describe the difference between stroke rate and stroke count, as I unterstand, why these are different numbers and not the same 🤔?

Stroke rate is per minute Stroke count is just the count of stroke :)

Didn't quite get it - what is "presaved effort" and how to measure it? And is it enough to measure only "stroke count" if I compete in pool only?

I'm swimming 1km in ~21mins with a stroke rate of 23/min. I thought that I should increase my propulsion power but it seems that my stroke rate is way too low.

yep you'll benefit from increasing your rating to 50-60

Thanks for the video. Just getting into swimming. My Garmin watch considers one stroke to be when one hand has done a full cycle. It looks like you count that as two strokes, right? i.e. each time a hand enters the water, you call it one stroke?
