the ending wasn't bad because it wasn't happy, the ending was bad because it was stupid and incredibly lame.

I'll be honest I just don't like seeing main characters die even if they are evil.

I personally never disliked the original ending but it just leaves me more depressed everytime I remember it. And I have to admit, this one is far far better.

I don't think anyone was saying it's bad because it's sad. I've never heard anyone complain about that, and I've been heavily involved in the community of ending haters. It's bad because characters are either shoved into a plotline that betrays how they were built up for most of the show, or forgotten about. A lot of the ending just doesn't even make sense, as if Isayama couldn't figure out how to get to the ending he wanted so he just forced it with ass pulls and nonsense instead of writing an ending that worked with everything he had built up over all these years. There's so many reasons the show went down hill starting around the mid 120 chapters, and I'm not gonna sit here and type it all out. But there are videos out there that do a good job of breaking it all down. One thing I will say is everyone likes to latch onto "everyone is a slave to something" but take it too literally. It's more akin to everyone has something in their life that drives them to continue living. A crutch. Maybe even a vice.

I never expected a "happy ending" but the ending we got made zero sense and was incoherent af.

Fun fact: Hajime Isayama's original ending was that everyone was supposed to die by Chapter 110. Like the movie, The Mist.

Have all of you heard of The AOT No Requiem project, I heard that they are working hard to give us the ending Attack on Titan deserves.

It's nothing to do with it being sad or depressing, that was to be expected. It's more to do with it being entirely illogical and having an asspull that defies the previous rules or an entirely illogical character moment every single chapter towards the end.

What I personally wanted was for Eren to win, I wanted him to keep marching forward towards freedom.

I don’t know find a way to Eren to show his memories to the world to prove they are not the enemies, Reiner revealing the truth and saying that they are not devils that’s a good way to start

If Eren had the Infinity Gauntlet or Dragon Balls, then we'd be telling a different story.

I don't necessarily hate the ending, it just felt rushed. Hopefully the anime will take more time to flush out the ending

I prefer this ending over the anime ending. There is one problem though. Where does Zeke fit in all of this, after he frees the old Titan holders from the paths? If there is one thing I think the OG anime ending did perfectly, is the conclution of Zeke's character. Zeke's end serves two purpouses. It ends the Rumbling and it grants Levi's wish to fullfill Erwin's last order + avenging all the Eldians he killed

This video makes me happy. As far as I'm concerned this is how it ends. (BTW I did like the original ending but a world where everyone ends up happier just makes me smile more.

i feel like the problem with attack on titans ending is that is feels like an ending to season 4. not an ending to attack on titan. the momentum is dropped at season 3 and no that doesn’t mean it doesn’t give the characters a good ending, no one said that attack on titan should have a happy ending, but the idea of what isayama what infering to the fans through the first 3 seasons was much more profound and frightening then what actually happens in season 4.

Fighting Ymir as the final boss is a neat concept, and you could argue there may be a precedent for it, but I personally feel it makes Eren too wishy-washy about the Rumbling. Based on the rumbling build-up in the story, there are really only two possibilities for a satisfying ending- Eren wins, or Eren loses. All the paths and time travel is what complicates amd brings down the ending we got

Now I know why Eren was crying in the first episode.

This ending was so much better. It makes you think that war is a possibility whilst finishing on a happy note. This would be the ideal ending.

My complaint has always been that Eren doing all that to ensure his friends safety makes no sense. Eren could not see past his death, so he would have been simply hoping/wishing that is friends would survive the aftermath of his destruction of the world. However I believe it is highly likely that after killing 80% of the world, any Eldians not on the island would have been slaughtered out of vengence and fear for what they can do. Eren is the devil they all feared, and he showed that any Eldian is capable of being that devil. So my point is, Erens actions are not in line with his desire to protect his friends, which is what the show suggests. With that said, if you take into account that Eren is incapable of stopping fate, then perhaps you could argue that is why it all happened how it did. However that doesnt make for a very compelling character if he only did what he did because he was fated to do it. Either way, I didn't hate the ending, just wished for something a little more coherent.

I think the ending was okay just they way it is. It works and all it needs is to just change is a bit of the dialogue in the final chapter. I am not sure why people are saying that most characters were not in character when it's was just Eren because that really baffles me. I mean you could say Armin too for just one moment but I think all in all their aren't too many problems, it was just the execution. To be honest I think Eren just choose the best option for his friends and even the island. Of course the full rumbling was probably the way to be 100% sure that his friends and the island is safe but even I think that was going a little too far. His plan was actually pretty solid though when I think about it. Activate the rumbling and kill off 80% percent of humanity, have the alliance beat him in front of public eye, end the 2000 years curse of the titans. First, this it keeps alive as much people beyond the walls (as much as possible) while at the same time getting rid of enough of people outside the walls so they cannot counter attack in 100 years. Next it improves the standing of the island and Eldians because they are pretty much the people who save the world which was seen by alot of people. Finally, it ends the titan curse that has been active for 2000 years which was causing the hatred towards Subjects of Ymir in the first place making Eldians unable to turn into Titans. I don't see what's wrong with this plan when all things are taken in context. People are just complaining about Eren's character, which I can agree was a little off, but that's the only thing that really stood out out to me in the original ending. Even if Eren didn't know what he was doing, I still think he picked the best plan to execute to save his friends and island. So I don't think the finale is ruined by just one statement from one person who was out of character after killing 1.6 billion people. Therefore, apart from Eren's motivations there's nothing else that is really wrong the with the ending in my opinion. Also I not saying I condone Eren's genocide, just that I think he choose the option to not just kill everyone outside the island because he had no other choice.

Unpopular opinion Most people hate the ending of AOT. I understand why. But in my opinion I believe its perfect as it is. It feels more humane, the story of a girl used abused and caged for years, in death was stuck in time and space a slave still. Its almost as if people expected her to come to terms with things peacefully but she's a human branded a devil wrongfully and literally abused her whole life and after death worked still. Idk about you but id want it all to go away And get revenge. Eren was a carrier of her direct will. This was her fight through a vessel that knew her suffering. Was eren wrong? That question needs to be narrowed Was eren wrong to want to wipe out the people who wanted his people innocent or not dead? No. World was never going to forgone the eldians so they'd be reduced to nothing. It was a them or us situation and eren chose to let kid people live instead of sacrificing their future so others could live. But hey. I'm happy with this video. Though like he said, hate will never end, so eldians will never be free. Humans are not peaceful

Tatake is "to hit". Tatakae is "To fight". The Scene in attack of titan has Eren saying "Tatakae" to fight, not Tatake.

Best ending is eren wins and the series just ends. If you want a good ending let zero turn into the founding titan while eren has control of the colossal titans or the other way around

I think we got the right ending. I wish Reiner suffered a little bit more but for the most part our characters got what they deserved.

Fun fact: Attack on Titan supposed to stop at Chapter 110. But the fans encouraged him to keep going for another 29 chapters.

Is it just me or people seemed to not taking the idea of Paradis allied with the nations that made up the Mid-East Alliance seriously at all? Why is this? Was it because they wanted to see the Rumbling so bad? Was it because they deluded themselves with Marley's propaganda? Was it because they have little to no knowledge about the Franco-Ottoman alliance in our world? When I saw this video's title, I thought that the Mid-East Alliance will be involved somehow. And while it did compensate that by making Eren finally felt free despite that he is under house arrest and having a daughter with Mikasa who is named after their late friend, Sasha. The fact that Paradis made no attempts to form relations with other nations, especially the ones that can become their allies, just baffled me. Heck, didn't Willy Tybur said it himself that Marley made so many enemies that some of them could potentially become Paradis' allies?

The manga ending of Attack on Titan is just technically bad despite the overall story is 9/10. Even after the dogshit ending, Attack on Titan is still 9/10.

I never wanted a happy ending. I wanted a well written ending. Annie and Reiner still being alive along with their family members is comical. Jean and Connie turning into titans was tragic but a decent end to their characters yet they were brought back instead. Levi not getting the change to properly kill zeke left me frustrated. The ending was not sad, but illogical and stupid. Everyone except eren and hange stayed alive

Actually The founder can Change what do every Eldian from Before and Future ( and now) from The Paths ( not the Attack) Eren just make everyone who inherited the Attack to have his Freedom Ideology And he make them see the future to make them Do the future as he wants

The ending wasn't bad, its just that it was rushed and the endsing didn't make sense for a each character. With all the hanges they have made to the anime, like the way Eren wakes up compared to the manga, the sudden coat colour change in the last episode with Eren, theres good reason to believe there will be an alternate ending. An ending where Eren completes the rumbling and kills the rest of the world is fitting. Its grim for the rest of humanity, and his friends will likely die trying to stop him. He sacrificed all his friends for freedom.
