Finding Britain’s Big Cats
Series 1 - Ryedale, North Yorkshire
Episode 1 - Malton
This is the very first episode of my new documentary series; Finding Britain’s Big Cats. My aim is to contribute to the ever mounting evidence that proves big cats, such as, lynx, panthers, pumas and leopards are living here in the wild.
I was inspired to make this documentary after I believe I saw a black big cat while driving on the A64 road. If you are interested in my experience/sighting then please watch my previous big videos; links are below:

Cheers for that feedback mate, I really appreciate that. I have made a stand alone video of that footage I got. I couldn’t think of anything else it could have been tbh, how it moved; as well and the long tail. No dog I know could move in such a slick manner.

Apparently there are big black cats seen in the USA also. There is a small chance of naturally occurring black jaguars being resident in the USA's south west, but the sightings seem to be widely distributed.
@johnmead8437

@@SmedleyDouwright Actually the US is more likely than most places due to lax animal importation/breeding/ownership laws and the fruitcakes that get these things. The results are invasive snakes in Florida etc. People dump domestic cats everywhere too

You, you are lurking about in that area 😅 just kidding, i know they are out there, my partner saw a black panther in Heathton, near Wombourne ,West Mids back in 2001. One of 2 sightings at the tome and a print was found .They have massive territories in the wild, and can be feet away and you'd never know. Great vid, keep going m8 🙂

A very clever play on words. @1:55 you said, and I quote, _"... the_ *_'LYNX'_* _are in the description box below."_ 🤔😲 😅🤣😂 I'm not saying there are *NOT* big cats in the UK, but I remember seeing a video of and American who has tracked big cats all over the world. He spent some time looking in an area known for sightings of big cats for clues and tell tail signs, and he concluded that nothing he saw suggested that there are big cats in the UK. Regardless. This is my story. I have to go back some 40 years for this. *The scene.* I’ve just got myself an MG Midget. It’s a warm summer’s night at about 0130 hrs. I’m driving on the Worcester/Warwickshire border heading towards home in Warwickshire. *_The village I’m in is just East of Evesham. Badsey._* - _Lat 52 5’35.93 N Long 1 53’41.01_ I’m driving along a road that just fringes the village with open fields to the right (North) of me. I come to a right turn to head out of the village and in the beam of my MG, I notice something large and dark running down the middle of the road some 30 yds ahead. It runs for a few seconds before veering off to the left. The verges either side of the road are wide. Some 20 foot. Then there is the hedgerow to fields beyond. Whatever it was stops by the hedge, looks back for a split second or so, then vanishes through the hedge. I had actually turned the car slightly to keep what it was, still lit by the cars full beam headlights. *_Now..._* Most cynics will say, _“It’s just a Black Lab or Alsatian.”_ But my uncle always kept Black Labs and we’ve had Alsatians and Springers in the past and whatever it was, was not a dog. It didn’t run like a dog runs. It had a long tail that dogs do not have. And it had those yellow/orange reflecting eyes that were built for great night vision. Something, that is not as good with dogs. As soon as the beast vanished, I suddenly became aware that the hairs on the back of my neck had stood up. Something, almost primordial, was waring me, that I was NOT the apex predator about. And then I realised that I still had the roof down on the MG. Something I always did if it was dry regardless of the temperature. *_I can’t guarantee it was a big cat, but what I will guarantee is this._* *It was NOT a dog.* And those coordinates above are the location of where I saw this _"beastie"._

Bengal Cat?

@johnmead8437 Год назад
Bengal maybe (cat, not tiger). Some domestic cats get big, and so some reports are likely not lies, just assumptions due to size. Easy to happen, a pest control operator who should know reported one in NZ, turned out to be an 11kg black cat, a monster. But not a panther.

Hi pal second comment. I'm defo gonna follow your channel I really hope you find one as you will prove me wrong lol, I'm not a belive in thinking there out there breeding I can see there being the odd escapee out there from private collections but just the the odd 1 or 2. Harsh but the camre trap didn't show a big cat to me just maybe a wild tabby cat , the reason for this is I have seen big cats and in the past worked with them and just the sheer size of a jaguar or a leopard would of stood out alot more for me if one did run past the cam, its not a massive distance from where the deer was stood and a cat would be bigger looking than them but that's just my opinion and I could easily be wrong. Keep up the hard work tho pal and best of luck , also where the cat ran past maybe look in that area for scat or claw marks on trees as this as marks on trees could be them claiming territory.

IF it was: it will probably be back They are pretty easy to get good photos of (wildlife "documentaries" make "wonderful discoveries" regularly, and thier experts are not a lot more skilled wit cameras, use plenty). Don't bother conning he gullible for finance, fame will come without fraud if success finding these happens. If it was a big cat other evidence would likely be obvious. Figure it, & don't talk DNA rubbish, it's conclusive. & while only a little of life was wasted on a bit of this clip, suggest start finding that other evidence then use the lone hopeless camera properly. And another 10 or so. Where they wil get better footage of everything. Its wrong that they won't admit it ,the public need to be aware, so many sightings lots on camara , ,the thing is if you ho walking with your family freinds and children (children like to run ahead) you don't want them disturbing, maybe big cat sleeping or hiding,. I have no doubt after reading seeing vidios that they are out there .
@johnmead8437
@johnmead8437 Год назад
If factual, that account is more convincing than most. Note the prevalence of Black panthers, that needs some explaining if there is more than one. And if constant evidence from a locality is being provided, a trail cam wil soon sort it out. So the absence of convincing footage is suspect.

You should be able to work out the size roughly from the distance, the focal length, and comparing it with the deer, which was closer. I'd say that the black animal was at least 50% longer than the deer, maybe twice as long.

During my commentary of the trail camera footage captured, there appears to be a loud beeping sound in parts which were not there during editing. This also happens at the end of my video when showing more trail camera footage. Also, at 7:48 the image shows frozen trail camera footage but I had in fact inputted footage of me speaking during the edit. Does anyone know why these teething issues occurred? Because people coming forward with this sort of "evidence". With ALL of the big black cat sightings there has yet to be one, clear, concise photograph or video of such a cat. With ALL of the technology we have and we have black house cats being called panthers and black dots in the trees being called Big Black Cats. Sad.
