Hi everyone, thanks for exploring Culebra with us! The island has some amazing beaches to choose from. Which was your favorite beach in this episode? Playa Resaca- that was the most challenging to access 🥾, Playa Brava - where we found the giant coconut 🥥 or Playa Flamenco - the most well known 🌴 Let us know in the comments! And if you want to see more of our Puerto Rico adventures be sure to check out our playlist here:ru-vid.com/group/PLOT_jgQ5dAKybe3bp-2rMwlOlbhRLa-9F
@@tinacrawford1903 hmm that was awhile ago, I think we knew that by the time we were done visiting the 3rd beach the rental shop would be closed, and we heard the van prices from Flamanco Beach were very reasonable. We didn't want to have to rush back. Thanks so much for watching!
@@noemivelasquez4349 there were a few places on the island and I honestly can't remember which place we ended up renting from. It was either Jerry's Jeep Rental or Carlos Jeep Rental.
We absolutely did enjoy ourselves, Boricua. We can't wait to return and explore the rest of this beautiful island sometime soon. Thanks so much for watching!
We're so glad to hear you are enjoying it, Scully. It's always nice to switch things up a bit, especially in a stunningly beautiful place like Puerto Rico!
Wow! I agree Playa Resaca looks worth the hike. So beautiful! Flamenco beach would still be my favorite though. It's equally beautiful with easy access, beer, and is swimmable. What more could you want? Looks like an incredible day out!
Yeah, while we don't think that Flamenco wasn't quite the prettiest of the 3, it was definitely the easiest to get to, was the most swimmable, and had the best amenities. We definitely see why it's rated one of the best in the world! But for hikers who love secluded beaches, Playa Flamenco and Playa Brava are really hard to beat!
Wow!!! Wonderful video as always. Everything looked beautiful ,great tips for tourists. Looking forward to your next video. Thanks for sharing this video. Have a wonderful weekend you guys.
Thanks so much for your continued support, Chris! We're really happy to be receiving positive feedback on this Puerto Rico series, as we enjoyed our time so much and really want to show everyone how beautiful it is!
I love Puerto Rican coffee! There were so many golf carts there. That beach was incredible, but my husband would need to bring his own shade to survive 😂 I would be the same as Jamie with the golf cart 😬and super nervous by that water on the road 😂 Looked like a great day exploring the beaches - and the next hike looked super muddy! I probably would have turned around lol.
Yeah, golf cart is definitely the preferred mode of tourist transportation in Culebra, which we loved! We really love Puerto Rican coffee too. Even the coffee we made at our Airbnb was soo good! Glad to here I'm not the only one who gets super nervous about driving through water! 😅
That last shot of you walking thru the mud , I wanted to yell quick sand at the screen !! I was also thinking snakes and spiders and jungle critters when you bravely trudged thru those "jungles" ! lol !!! But those are some amazingly beautiful beaches !! Thanks ! I have to laugh though...you had him check the road puddle depth and you plowed thru the mud trails with no worries !
Haha thankfully we researched this trail quite a bit before hiking it and had a decent idea of what we were getting into. Otherwise, we probably would have had some quicksand concerns as well! Believe it or not we did not see a single spider in the rainforest, but we also weren't looking too hard. We saw quite a few butterflies and bees though! Thanks so much for taking the time to comment, as always!
We always have an amazing time in Puerto Rico, but Culebra is really our vibe with all of its beautiful secluded feeling beaches. We hope you enjoy the island as much as we did!
@@Explorcation ..I was born n raised in PR, but my mother left to the US when I was 15. It was later in time that I truly learned to appreciate the beauty of my Caribbean island. I go almost every year.
@@humbertothebeliever2443 that is wonderful you've learned to appreciate the island where you were born and raised, even if it took a little time to do so, have a great time on your next trip :)
I enjoyed this video tremendously! Born in Ponce but left at 16 years old so I have never been to many beautiful places in Puerto Rico. This makes me want to go back to explore the beauty of my country.
Thank you so much! We love everything about Puerto Rico and can't wait to get back to explore even more. We really hope that you are able to get a chance to return there for a visit soon too! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment!
Love that you hired a golf cart to get to the beaches, that’s about the only vehicle we haven’t hired although $100 per day is pretty steep. Worth it to get to see so many places in one day! Sounds like a pretty full on and long day including the ferry journey. You making Skylar test the depth of the water made me laugh so much 😂 that rooster too, he wanted a feature on your channel! You did well to make it to 3 beaches in one day, it’s important to enjoy yourselves, La cocina looked beautiful for dinner, what a day!
Yeah, the golf car was only like $20 less than a 4x4 Jeep, but we though the golf cart would be more fun and save us some money on fuel. That rooster really did seem to want a feature in the video, and he got it😂
this video made me so excited about my trip to puerto rico that i won’t be able to sleep tonight lol. thanks for providing all the tips and warning us about all the hiccups you went through. awesome vid
I like the second playa tge best. It's boulders provide the perfect l'arriere plan! I lived the Seychelles four years. Only their beaches can match the Flamenco! Thx for sharing!
Thank you so much for sharing, MJ! After we saw several more rather large crabs on our hike back from the beach we started to think they might be crab holes.... but now we know for sure!
My husband I love Flamenco Beach. We go every time we go back to Puerto Rico. The first time we went it literally took my breath away walking over the little boardwalk. Great video. Such a beautiful place to visit.
Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment! We were amazed by the beauty of Flamenco Beach as well. That's so amazing that you get back to visit every time you visit Puerto Rico!
Puerto Rico's 78 cities are beautiful. Aguadilla City also has many beautiful beaches in Puerto Rico, and Rafael Hernandez International Airport is scheduled to expand due to the large number of tourist visiting from the US mainland and Canada.
Hi Noel, thank you for watching and commenting. We are happy to hear that the Rafael Hernandez Airport will be expanding. We flew into that airport a few years ago when we first visited Puerto Rico. We had no idea how small it was until we landed! We had such a great experience exploring the Rincon and Aguadilla areas.
With all Respect,Not all towns "pueblos" are city's, San Juan,Guaynabo, Bayamón,Ponce,Mayaguez, caguas, aguadilla, are city's they are more populated with high rise buildings and bigger local government
Hi everyone, thanks for exploring Culebra with us! Which beach was your favorite? Playa Resaca (the most challenging one the visit)? Playa Brava (the one with the giant coconut)? Or Playa Flamenco (the most well known and easiest to visit)?
For me Flamenco Beach is the best!! But another that has not been mentioned is the one in Culebrita Island. Yo have to take a boat or a speedboat with someone from the island of Culebra and ask them to get you there!! The beach in Culebrita Island is just P A R A D I S E!!! Saludos Amigos from Explorcation!!! #theviolinistprince
We've seen many photos of the Culebrita Island beaches and they do look lovely. We will definitely make it there someday. Hopefully sooner than later! Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment!
We had Zoni on our list, Juan... but since we just missed the first ferry and had to come over two hours later than planned, we just didn't have enough time to make it there. Next time we visit Culebra though, we'll definitely be sure to check out Zoni Beach! Thanks so much for taking the time to comment, Juan!
Those crabs were pretty cute! I think we would do the hike to the first beach, it looked worth it to me (plus it looked fun and scrambly!). Glad the ferry sickness passed quickly... that did not sound enjoyable 😬 This looked like a such a fun day though!
Yeah, those crabs were really cool, and they were all over the place! I think you guys would love the first beach and would really enjoy the hike. We're so glad the ferry sickness went away quickly and we were able to fully enjoy the island!
Amazing! ❤️🏖 I took a quick plane ride over to Culebra from the Ceiba airport and drove a golf cart over to 3 easy to access beaches (Flamenco, Tamarindo, and Zoni). Next time I go, I may try one of those hikes you did.
That's awesome, Celi. About have way through hour ferry ride to Culebra, we were wishing we would have taken the flight instead! We actually had Zoni Beach on our list, but just ran out of time.
Eeek guys, you’re almost at 10K 🤗🤗 Love that you also like taking difficult routes to get to beautiful beaches! Oh my gosh…I don’t have the best ferry memories 😂 it was our first trip together, we went to Seychelles and I got super sea sick on the ferry…it’s just the worst feeling! lol, I would also have made Craig check the water level to make sure the golf cart would make it 😂 Really like the little rock pool at the 2nd beach. Only $5 of gas for the day is so good! Flamenco beach is soooooo beautiful 🥹😍 So glad your ferry on the way back was a lot calmer 😌
Hey guys! Yeah, getting a little closer every day 🙂 I guess we're gonna have to finally do a Q&A video since we never found the time to do it for 5K! Getting sick on a ferry really is the worst. We were so nervous that we were going to feel terrible during our entire time on the island, but thankfully we both felt good once we FINALLY got off that boat! Skylar definitely enjoyed the rock pool at Playa Brava. It was a nice relaxing spot to cool of on an otherwise really wavy beach.
All the beaches was beautiful but flamenco Beach is breathtaking what a beautiful beach no one that is rated one of the best Beaches in the 🌎 world's thank you guy that was beautiful 😍❤️ do you went to humacao beach
Also wanted to ask if you are going to visit Bora Bora and the Maldives some day? I would love that so much!! And thank you for the great quality videos you make from my island Puerto Rico!! Thank you for the respect, love and professionalism that you put in your great films!!! Amazing work!!! #theviolinistprince
We would love to visit both of those places someday, and if our channel keeps growing and we are both eventually able to work on our channel full time, I'm confident that we will! We're really happy to hear that you appreciate and enjoy our Puerto Rico videos, and we're sure that the videos from the next trip to your island will be even better!
@@Explorcation the first one I watched was from Culebra!! And then the other ones... now I'm planning on watching more of your videos from the other places you visited!! You provide great information, descriptions and beautiful visuals which give the true feel of my Island!! I'm sure that the videos from the other places in the world are awesome too!! Thank you guys again!!!
My favorite beach in Culebra is Tamarindo beach. That was a few years ago and we are going back this month so I'll see if it's still my favorite. Did you get to see the army tanks on Flamingo beach?
Thanks for sharing. We'll have to check out Tamarindo next time we visit. We didn't walk all the way to the tanks. We had planned to, but were too exhausted by the time we made it to Flamenco.
Getting around the island via Gulfcart was so much fun, even though we do wish our cart had just a little more power!😂 We really hope you are able to make it back for a return visit soon.
we have been traveling to Culebra nearly every year (except during COVID) since 1993 -- some years going twice. you need a LOT more time there to really get to know that tiny place. I hiked to Brava twice this year and it is spectacular - much easier than Resaca. and shade there as well. nice palms. We did a night-time camp over on Resaca over with the FIsh and Wildlife Service many years ago when they were doing the turtle surveys. What an experience. Flamenco is beautiful but touristy. Still, well worth a visit. Zoni is on northeast side of the island. Wonderful. Larga is a good walking beach but no swimming. Punta Soldado has good snorkeling but the better place for that is Tamarindo -- near Flamenco. Mostly coral beach with some sand, it is beautiful for sunsets and has excellent beginner to middle-skill snorkeling. Carlos Rosario has exceptional snorkeling as does Melones. THe leeward beaches are mostly coral but have incredible rocks, boulders, shells and plant life. Snorkeling is very good. Nice beaches also on the cays offshore. Culebrita and Luis Pena have great stopovers - scenic and great snorkeling.
We believe it, Gary. We had Zoni Beach and Carlos Rosario on our list of beaches to visit to begin with, but soon realized there was no way we'd have time to visit the all. Next time we visit Culebra, we hope to have much longer than just a day. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to provide this great information!
Howdy Guys - you seem to find the absolute top spots when you go touring! I loved all 3 beaches, but if I'm relaxing the day away - I would probably choose Flamenco since is was easy to get to and rated the best. That hiking and walking through the forest, over the bolders etc was a bit rough - Reminds me of a really touch summit hike we have here. It's interesting to hear your experience with the ferry system, parking and the smaller ones being a little rocky. I tend to take something before going on the water, or sit at the back where it's less rocky.....seems to help :) Hand me some Chicken Pasta too pls - HAHA YUMYUM
Yeah, we definitely could have both used a Dramamine on that ferry. Next time we'll do as you do and try to find a spot towards the back (we unfortunately did the opposite 😅).
Playa Resaca was definitely Skylar's favorite. Like you, he loves the isolated beaches as well as the hike to get to them. That particular hike we both really enjoyed though, as it was well shaded and had some fun boulders to climb over. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment!
@@Explorcation Any time! I enjoy your content, your Florida beach guide videos were a real help for us on our recent vacation, was good to get away from the tourist traps of Orlando and explore the Gulf Coast. Thanks for your content 🙏
@@LJSW-rp6xm thank you so much for this comment, it makes us happy when we hear that our content has been helpful to explore the Gulf Coast. We really love it and want others to be able to enjoy it too :)
I would have suggested if you are going hike to Resaca then walk to the eastern end of the beach and hike around the point to Brava. That is a fun and spectacular trip. If you want to hike to a nice swimming and snorkeling beach, Carlos Rosario, is it. Zoni is great for swimming and being somewhat secluded, recommend walking north on Zoni to find the nice swimming area. Flamenco of course is awesome in general.
While we would have loved to have received these suggestions prior to our visit, I'm sure they will come in handy when we eventually make it back some day! We did have Zoni on our list... but with only one day on the island, we just ran out of time/energy. We really do appreciate the tips, Kevin!
@@Explorcation I wish I would have also been able to share sooner. I have been to Culebra twice. I actually traveled to Puerto Rico to specifically visit Culebra. So I spent two entire weeks on the island. I also did visit Culebrita, which is fantastic.
@@kevinsouser1457 two weeks seems like a much more appropriate timeframe to visit Culebra! We would love to visit Culebrita too. The beaches there look amazing. Have you been to Vieques yet? We had plans to visit that got derailed by Hurricane Fiona.
Great to hear, Preston! We only had time to visit about half the beaches that we had on our list, and can't wait to return someday too. We hope you have a great time in October!
Culebra Island has two(2)of the ten(10) beaches un the World according to Travel Magazines. Culebras Island was Military Base, Military Practices and Shooting Ranger in 1902-1973.It was the Island for the participation of the USA in the 1st and 2nd War as well as in Korean and Vietnam Wars. The Island is very quiet and a lot of tourism. It's very hot weather can reach 110°F. Always prepare for hurricans.
Wow Culebra looks beautiful! So many beautiful beaches! Flamenco Beach looks absolutely stunning. And it was amazing that you had Playa Resaca all to yourselves! What a cool experience. I would absolutely hike down a trail full of boulders to be alone on a beach like that. Love the fact that golf carts are the way to get around the island haha. That's very unique. Yours looked fancy!
Having Playa Resaca to ourselves was definitely a highlight of the day, especially for Skylar! The hike was 100% worth the effort! We really loved that golf cart was the primary mode of tourist transportation on the island as well. It was a fun way to get around, although we definitely pushed the limits on ours!
I just watched your top 10 beaches in the Tampa area. I was just at Anna Maria Island this past weekend. Coquina Beach to be exact. It was perfect! I normally go to Sand Key Beach just south of Clearwater Beach since its closer to where we live. I'm also going to Culebra in a week for the second time this year. I absolutely love it there! The ferry ride for me was not fun though. I got very seasick! We ended up flying off the island and are going to do that this coming trip as well. Love the videos!
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment. We just recently visited Sand Key and really enjoyed it. Definitely a nice break from the craziness of Clearwater Beach just a couple miles away! We hope you get some calmer seas on the ferry to Culebra this time around. We cannot wait to go back and visit someday!
@@Explorcation No ferry this time. Flying does cost more but it is so much quicker and adds something different to the experience. Plus, it's a little more flexible on when you can leave. You can even fly from San Juan to Culebra.
A Puerto Rican lady said the passenger only ferry was actually rougher than the cargo/passenger ferry but faster. Nobody got sick on our ferry/cargo but I felt queasy a bit and one other almost lost it😮.
We were lucky enough to experience that beach a few years back. It was quite empty when we visited, but we definitely didn't have it all to ourselves. What an experience that must have been!
We've seen some pictures of Culebrita and it looks absolutely amazing. Unfortunately we didn't have the time to visit that island on this stay, but it's definitely on our radar for our next visit to Puerto Rico! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, Kenneth!
All of the culebra beaches were great but my family and I thought zoni beach on the north east side of the island and playa tortuga on culebrita were the best. The scenic driving around culebra was also amazing and fun!
I'm finally going to Puerto Rico in 2025 and it will be my 1st time flying and off the mainland..I plan on visiting Culebra while there...How long was the ferry ride? If you said I apologize I must of missed it
That's exciting to hear about your upcoming trip, Antonio. We hope our Puerto Rico content helps you to make the most of your time there! The ferry from Ceiba to Culebra was only around 40 minutes from what we recall. We hope your ride isn't as rocky as ours was! Get on the passenger only ferry if at all possible... it seems to be more stable from our experience.
As far as I know,,, the internet booking is limited to 20% of the total amount of seats available. That's why,, even if the site may say is completely booked,, most likely there will be available seats.
Yes, definitely worth it once you reach the beach. It was a somewhat challenging hike, but something anyone in decent physical condition could do. Just take your time and don't forget to pack water (like we often do!).
It must have been a good iced coffee if you can remember it from over 30 years ago! I wish my memory was that good 😂 Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment, Luis!
Puerto Rico (Boriken) have the most beautiful beaches most visited by tourists and internal tourists in the greater antilles in central america atlantic caribbean sea also the top most popular beaches in the Caribbean 🇵🇷 🇺🇸
We sure do love to visit the beaches of Puerto Rico and hope to visit even more in future trips. Thank again for all of your suggestions and for watching 💗
Such great adventures in beautiful Puerto Rico! My favorite was Flamenco beach. I'll be watching to see if maybe you went on one of the bioluminescent bay kayak tours. Nearly impossible to photograph but such an incredibly cool experience.
It's easy to understand why Flamenco Beach is your favorite (and the favorite of so many others)! Unfortunately we did not do the bio bay tour near Vieques on this trip. We were considering doing it if we didn't make it to Cuelbra, but we just didn't have the time to do both. A few years back we did to another bio bay tour in southwest Puerto Rico. Like you said, it was nearly impossible to capture it via photo/video, but the experience was absolutely amazing!
I think the website should say if tickets are available at the counter. But yes you should be able to purchase them at the counter as long as they are not sold out.
Flamengo beach 1000000% beautiful is like a larger pool but my ch better because is a beach with not to many waves(water so calm) i visited that beach twice.. that’s why I know 😊 and I love it so much
This trip was quite a while ago so my memory isn't the greatest. I believe we had a light breakfast and brought some snacks for lunch. We ate dinner near the ferry terminal at the end of the day. Thanks for watching!
We had planned on it... but unfortunately we just ran out of time since that one is a bit further away from the ferry terminal. Next time we visit we'll give ourselves more than one day on the island to explore!
Just like here int he states, there are no doubt spots that best be avoid, but we have had nothing but positive experiences in Puerto Rico and we will definitely be returning.
My favorite beach is the Zoni Beach which you didn’t visit. The Flamenco beach is way overrated and a touristy spot. Maybe it’s a good thing. The Less people know about my favorite beach the better 🫣
Zoni was definitely on our original list, but we ultimately didn't have the time to make it there. Next visit for sure. And we do somewhat agree on Flamenco. It was beautiful for sure, but probably our least favorite of the 3 we visited.
