I found myself wanting this video to never end. My breathing and heart rate slowed to a peaceful calm as I watched. The new garden bed with cement blocks turned out beautiful and has motivated us to try it in our garden. You certainly live in a beautiful part of the world. Thank you for sharing it with me.
Brook, I just want you to know that as a man who suffers from depression I support you. I know we don't know each other, but the vulnerability you have put out there by sharing your story draws me to you. I pray for you and your family. The start of the video explains my life. From the snipits that people see of my life, I have it all. What they don't see are the internal struggles. Thank you so much for putting yourself out there. We as men have to support each other !! I so look forward to your vlogs and seeing your little boys grow faster then any of the weeds (the struggle is real to keep up with those pesty weeds !!!) Much love and support to you and your family !!! Stay strong !!! and when you can't..know that its OK to have a not so OK day as well.
A beautifully sad however uplifting piece of art. I truly look forward to your vlogs and the honouring of us being allowed into share a piece of your life
I'm in awe, caught between my smile and my tears, amazed by the beauty of this video which reminded me of early Terence Malick's films. Thanks again, and again, and especially for the words and your face at the beginning. Seeing all of you at peace and right in the right place, possibly happy, is getting more and more important for me. Prenez soin de vous...
Thank you Beautiful Souls for sharing and showing the deeper side of humanity 🌷☮️ Your family is so beautiful! Seeing the boys living their life in nature is so inspiring to see. Much Love from SLC, Utah USA
The opening scenes of facial expression transformation was beautiful. Thanks for the update on your garden and upcoming projects. I enjoy hanging out with your family during these videos.
Je suis en admiration en regardant malgré tout votre combat pour l autonomie votre jardin est un exemple ...et en plus il est beau...courage pour la suite de vos projets ils sont si incroyables ❤
Really chuffed to see you guys growing your channel- I hope it’s supporting you financially a little bit as these videos are very time consuming. We appreciate all the hard work that goes into them. I hope you’re all well and enjoying spring.
I absolutely love every video, but this is definitely one of my faves. Thank you so much for sharing - I always feel such a sense of honesty, peace, and contentment in your lovely videos. Your family is precious. Your kind, gentle manner, thoughtfulness, and ability to capture the genuine moments experienced are truly appreciated. Looking forward to seeing the results of the potato experiment and bug hotel/resort! ☺👏
This is a well done video and shows artistic talents in so many ways. I love how your gardens, home and landscape are coming along so beautifully. One must never compare ourselves to others. We are all unique and there is no one else like us....we are wonderfully and perfectly made and each has wonderful gifts and talents. We have certainly seen many of yours and thank you and Happy Easter to you and your family...💗
Thank you for allowing a glimpse into your life. I see real people, lots of hard and lengthy work in garden, baking, crafting and really satisfying results. Your boys are lucky you chose this wonderful piece of land. The bugs will be as happy as bugs can be. Looking forward to seeing that project grow. Your spring garden is inspiring, I can hardly wait for mine to come to life again.
I think it’s marvellous in what you two have accomplished in the short time you’ve been there. Bravo 👏 Keep on going, stay safe, and thanks for sharing. 😉💋❣️ I’m nearly caught up to the present vlogs💋❣️
After finding your channel last year, I now had the opportunity to check out your recently posted videos. Let me just say, be super proud of yourselves. In taking on projects such as building a homestead it is easy to get lost in the neverending to do list, to see all the problems and be critical of your own work. However, please celebrate the victories and look at all you have achieved. All the tear-down jobs and re-do jobs ensure you have a good foundation long term of which you will enjoy the fruits of your labor years down the road. Pointing walls may seem neverending, but let me promise you that you are making such excellent progress, all while raising two little humans as well. When sh*t happens, it helps me to say "this is good because".. it helps me keep a positive outlook and mentality. But please be absolutely proud of everything you have done so far!! You guys are doing amazing and I cannot wait on your future videos!
Only just discovered your channel & I love it. I don’t know how you find the time to edit such wonderful videos on top of all your physical work, you’re all very inspiring x
Oh my.... Did not expect that at all this Sunday morning. Your quiet intro just speaks so loud and is my reality. I started out expecting normal banter and suddenly found myself in tears but slowly healed and calmed with the realisation that life goes on and make the best of it with experiments and building bug hotel. Oh my....
Vous avez trouvé la bonne voie dans votre choix de vie . La vie n'est pas un concours de réussite à tout prix mais faite pour êtres vécue pleinement. N'oublions pas que nous sommes que de passage, nous n'emportons rien de matériel lors du départ.
As over-used/trite as it sounds: YOU do YOU! YES it is perfectly "normal" to have up and down times. I despise those commercials about depression showing people sadly looking out the window. What a bunch of hooey. Thank you for illustrating that happy faces are not always a true depiction of how people feel on the inside. I KNOW. I've been there for many, many years. My mantra: This, too, shall pass. I SO enjoy watching your vlogs!
Another curious episode :-) I've been getting the feeling recently that Brooke could do with a change of scenery for a few days. Something is 'off' . That's the vibe I am getting... I touched on the 'instagram life' myself a few days ago too. Things are not always quite what the seem sometimes. .... Life is a puzzle, Some people are good at some puzzles but not quite so good at others. Also, It seems that you are looking for the right recipe for your channel.. Judging by it's statistical success, You have already found it.... Marc 🙂
Please convert that barn into a guest lodge. Not only to supplement your income, but because whoever stays there will be blessed by the peace and oneness which you both emanate❤
Laying blocks without a footing looks like an issue to come in the near future if it would be more than a couple of blocks in height of course due to frost in cold weather climates , but if just used as a garden bed most likely would be ok.
The happy face was by far my favorite. Smile on and be happy. Great video. Oh and by the way, every eye growing out of them potato’s was a chance to have a bigger crop.
I already like it. You’regood people and have many obstacles to overcome‼️but, in the meantime they do their best, And appear to be a fantastic couple and also are attentive and give kindness to their children
Many people have shadows under the surface. As with grief and pain, it is helpful to know that you are not alone. The video then proceeds to show us ways to heal: work, creativity, appreciating the beauty of nature and the love of family. This couple's work is helping others as well as themselves. The commenters seem to be lovely people, although maybe the video helps bring out the best in us.
It is Art , creative , real , made to feel. Some will love it , some will not get it , some will struggle . Real is to feel. Fab filming , very artistic , music great , and the garden looks loved now , I don’t want to watch babbling overactive you tubers . For me it’s the music and what is filmed . Lovely .
The opening was moving. I hope the land gives you inner peace. Also, do they call those windows French windows or just windows since you are in France?🤔
Thanks Ronda. Sorry I don't have the recipe, it was just one I found through Google. It was a very basic raisin biscuit/cookie dough that I made ahead and froze and then cooked at a later date. Sorry I can't be more helpful!
Great video. You're so right. It's so important to find happiness in the simple things in life, especially in the current context. We moved to Charente Maritime to achieve self-sufficiency after reading Deep Adaptation and, even with that knowledge in our heads, manage to find a way to be happy in the here and now. I worry desperately about my kids though. The world they are inheriting will be devoid of the pleasures we are able to enjoy presently. With a child so young, you must be concerned too. Does the knowledge of the impending (and near term) collapse of society impinge on your happiness at all?
I (Brook) don't really have climate anxiety anymore, my views have shifted. Maybe since having children, otherwise I believe it's a hopelessness mindset. A change is happening, every day I see more people showing others how to look after the natural world and knowledge is shared. The mainstream alternative; flying round in a private jet lecturing other billionaires about climate breakdown. In my opinion chaos, suicide and depravity will ensue due to hopelessness, if we tell children there's nothing to live for anyway. My concerns lie more in the aging population crisis, the lowering fertility rate and how we manage a shift in demographics across the world. If we come out of that without major economic disaster or the health systems collapsing then that'd be a start. Then we just have to worry about trigger happy counties with nuclear arms, asteroids, solar flares... 😅
@@LivingintheLoire Great response. You've obviously spent time reconciling yourself with our predicament. My own journey involved anger, despair and grief, but now find myself in a mental place not too dissimilar to your own. If anything, I have a tendency to enjoy life, and the 'little things', even more than ever before.
@Living in the Loire Who is it that plans, shoots and edits the videos? I'm interested to know because there's some impressive work being done, every so often some there's some glimpses of real brilliance
Brook does the majority of the filming and all the editing. Rebecca does most of the writing of text and voiceover. Ideas are a mix. We don't plan much as it's almost impossible with children at this age.
@@LivingintheLoire Awesome, you guys have something going. I've noticed on more than a few of the videos there's some real cinematography magic happening and that's quite rare even on a fantastically busy video site like RU-vid. To the stars!
I appreciate that a lot. We have an idea of where we want the channel to go. I struggle with finding our style and tone. I like variety and sometimes it doesn't fit with the audience (which is very diverse) or RU-vid's algo, but that's okay. Any tips are welcome if you want to ping us an e-mail anytime.
The music you play is so amazing so relaxing. We Always wait for your videos, we always enjoy them. I think what you have achieved is brilliant, the garden looking so good and your lovely house. Keep in there all your hard work will pay off .
Brook, watching your change in expression at the beginning of this video reminded me of a line of poetry: "There will be time, There will be time To prepare a face to meet the faces that you meet..." The Love Song of J.Alfred Prufrock - T.S. Eliot Don't we all shield what is inside from those outside? Peace...
Never compare yourself to others, it will drive you crazy. We never know what is going on in other people's lives, we see snippets of what they share. The Bible tells us to be content with whatever is going on, don't stop trying just be at peace with where you are.
I envy the space you have… and quiet… Do you know the herb celery leaf, looks like pearls sort of…very easy and useful and good for flavouring things. Not such hard work as actual celery! I am not sure if you have a comfrey bed?
Very good question. We either have comfrey or borage and I'm not sure which it is 😂. I'm hoping it's comfrey as there's so much you can do with it. Haven't heard of celery leaf - will look it up.
@@LivingintheLoire the comfrey you need has a pink/ white flower. Of course Borage has blue and sometimes a white variety too…. Comfrey tends to have one sort of dock shaped leaf from the base whereas borage has a stem with I think. Leaves opposite up the stems . The comfrey is ‘ blocking’ variety ywhich is a non invasive one. If you have comfrey you can lay some leaves in the planting holes eg of potatoes and tomatoes no need to make the stinky comfrey soup for them! Anyway ,well done for all you are doing!
Thanks for the all the info! I didn't know you could just place the leaves in the holes like that. Will definitely have to grow some if it turns out we don't have any.
@@LivingintheLoire if you have time google ‘comfrey- garden organic.’ Even chopping it in your compost heap too. Lots to learn everyday which is why gardening is my tonic.
Such a wonderful video, I only discovered your channel today and look forward to watching more. Also following on instagram. I love France and with my wife and son have been to The Loire a few times. I miss it and can’t wait to get back. One day hopefully we will move there as it’s been a dream of mine. Merci
