25:27 25:27 GMC trucks and cars were made on the same assembly line as Chevrolet trucks and cars, and are identical except for badging. They are marketed as being special, so they can charge more for them These guys are not that knowledgeable. This Tennessee guy is a master bullsh*tter, and the interviewer can't tell the difference. I could pick apart just about everything that guy said. He never saw anything like the Trunnion on the Triumph, and those were used on just about every independent suspension until ball joints came along in the early fifties, and American Motors used them on the upper joint until 1969, and the lower until 1963. My '63 Rambler American (in my avatar), has them upper and lower.

My sister's husband's father was a master mechanic for a Ford dealership for a while. Then they started a repair shop at their house, he had a 4 car shop and he was a cougar enthusiast and he had a bunch of cougar XR-7 cars and parts and he had one with a 429 in it and whatever else optional extras were available. But he just passed away a few years ago and he was the only one left in the family who was there at the house and when they took over the house and property they scrapped everything that was there including the cougar parts and extra body parts and it was a big deal and before he passed away he was trying to sell everything that he could? But there wasn't anyone that was interested in the part's and car's that were left. It was a shame that it went to waste!

I passed my DMV driving test in my grandmother’s blue 1967 Delmont 88 in 1970. Later that afternoon I damaged her car in a parking lot pulling into a parking space. I paid for the repair by mowing her lawn for the next couple of years. She told me that I actually did her a favor because now she can tell all the other grandkids under me that they can’t drive her car because if they crash it she has no way to get around town. 😁. This is only the second Delmont 88 I’ve seen in 50 plus years. Thanks

I had worked at a small GMC dealership back in the mid eighties and would prep the caballeros for the lot. We would only have about two or three at a time. They were just better than the Chevy el caminos. Some of them came in two tone with trim. Parker's laugh is contagious while he expresses his knowledge about his herd of classic rare rides. Great video.

Wow! I thought that I would never see another one of those again? I have owned 2 1968 Oldsmobile Delmont 88 and I tell you what an awesome riding car that is! It makes you feel like you were on your couch cruising down the road and they had good power. I bought them for the engines mainly, but I wanted to drive it around for a while before I pulled the engine out. I put the engine in a 1966 Oldsmobile Cutlass f-85 deluxe coup. I raised my kids while I had the Cutlass f-85 deluxe coup car. And when my son was old enough, I gave it to him and now he has it restored and he will probably pass it on to his son? But I kinda wish I could find another 1968 Delmont 88 one and I would just restore it and drive it. The 2 car's I owned were wrecked and that was how I found out about them.

The Bonanza was a yearly limited special sold in the spring thru the 70s, It included certain features grouped together at a discounted price. There were multi-level packages, A, B, C and D, each one piling on more options. It was a response to the similarly promoted Ford Explorer pickup (before it was an SUV). That was also a spring special with various discounted option packages. Interestingly, the nameplate was recycled by GM-Brazil in the early 90s. After the GMT400-OBS Blazer & Suburban came out in '92, the Square body tooling was sent there and the vehicles were called Bonanza. The square body was built for many more years there. Fun fact., the car Ted Kennedy was driving was a '67 Olds Delmont when he dunked it at Chappaquiddick in the summer of '69. The Delmont replaced the both Dynamic 88 and small-engined Jetstar 88 in 1967. It lasted 2 years before being replaced with a base-model Delta 88 in 1969.

The disc brake option for the Olds of these years were four-piston Kelsey Hayes, and therefore the 15" wheels that were part of the disc brake package had a unique profile to clear the calipers! My uncle had a former Fire Chief '67 Olds Delmont 88 that had those rare disc brakes! My folks had a pair of '68 Olds Delta Custom, both were Holiday Coupes - what they called the two-door fastbacks. The Olds 88 heirarchy was Delmont 88, Delta 88, and the top of the line was the Delta Custom, much like the Chevy Biscayne, BelAire and Impala.. All were available as two-door fastbacks, or 4-dr sedans and 2-dr convertibles Anyway, Mom's had the 455 high-compression 4-barrel, and dad's was the 455 low-compression 2-barrel. Mom's was more plain, but it had the automatic AC where you set the temperature, power windows and the AM/FM 'Wonderbar' seeking radio. Dad's had every option there was -- vacuum operated power locks, vacuum operated trunk release, cruise control (speed was set with a dial on the dash!), power windows, Manually controlled AC, full vinyl top, rear defogger blower in the rear package tray, power antenna.... His vinyl top was they called the 'halo roof' since the vinyl top did not go to the edges of the windows - it had a 1-1/2" wide bodycolor band, separated by chrome trim. .

That Delmont is the entry level Oldsmobile. It is on the C Body platform shared with the base Buick LeSabre and Pontiac Bonneville. Certsinly an uncommon car. Drum brakes are likely adequate. To switch to disc brakes, parts from a Delta or Ninety Eight will fit with no problem.

Those big olds were common on the west coast. 425 the daddy to the 455 which came out in 68. The 425 was a three year run. Probably Olds best big V8 ever. Have had two 65 Jetstar 1’s. And yes speedometer drives off left front wheel a gm thing even a corvair was like that. And as for the old ford truck last year for the flathead V8 was 53.

The Cougar does not have correct bucket seat upholstery for a XR-7, but most likely is better condition then the correct ones. The fender with the "Hecto en Mexico" stamping was a replacement fender from late 70's early 80's. It is a Ford service part. Not all Cougars got Disc brakes, is was optional. Over all a nice ride. I like the Spitfire and the Delmont 88 425. I had a friend in High School whos dad had one, but a 4 door company car. .

The Delmont was a fantastic Oldsmobile! Most had 425 Olds, and they had a 4 speed auto with S mode transmissions! " S stands for " super overdrive" and these cars take off like a jetfighter when you hit that s mode you better have that seat belt on! I bought a 66 Dynamic with 425 2 bbl, S mode, the guy I bought it from bought it off the showroom floor in 1966! It had 60k on it and had been serviced on schedule all it's life. I payed $350.
