Great video and really helpful! But I have a problem that i can't fix. When I open my model the colors of it are weird mixed with green, pink blue...Can you plz tell me what I have done wrong? Thank you!
@@oldmatelarry7727 I got the same problem. If you have the textures of the model, go to files, external disk, missing files and then go find the textures file and press open images.
i watched countless tutorials on this problem for many days... none was able to fix the problem until i discovered this video. IT WORKED MORE THAN I WANTED IT TO. BEST, SIMPLE, CLEAR AND STRAIGHT FORWARD VIDEO. Thank You.
Blender is extremely deep (in a good way) and learning it without formal training can come with brain-exhaustion. This short tutorial has relieved a lot of my brain trauma. THANKS!
Also, check to see if the material in the background is the cause of the problem (you can check by selecting the "World Properties" and see what the preview looks like). For me, my textures were showing up fine in the Viewport Shading but when I checked Cycles my model had the texture but was also shaded with pink. I searched high and low and found out this was what was causing the problem for me. Hope this helps someone else! :)
hey same proplem after two years anyways when i import the file in a new project every thing fine but in my main project its pink how do i enter world proprties plz
Maybe it's because of the global lockdown. The internet services have had a few changes to reduce traffic. You cannot play above 480p in my country (India). Is everything else playing on higher resolution ?
This was such an easy fix, I had no idea Blender could even do this. I was worried I'd have to re-link everything by hand. You are a lifesaver, thank you!
Wow, my gut instinct when this happened to me in Blender was to do an internet search for it, because nothing in Blender is logical or intuitive. Turns out, this one time it actually was! :)
this one is really good but, my blender keeps telling me that there is no texture found, so i did the next best thing, and instead of letting blender do the job, i went into the shading- and browsed for the texture myself and its applied directly, this option also very easy and more productive if you maybe don't like the actual texture and you want to replace it.
THIS IS SUCH A LIFESAVER! Also, A quick tip for those who are plagued by this problem after recovering an autosaved file - if you specify that Blender make all file paths absolute rather than relative, it won't try searching the directory or folder that it ends up in (temp, if you're recovering an autosave) and will instead keep the links to their original locations in the file system. I think this eliminates the problem entirely, but as a result if you want to move the blender file and its asset files into a new folder everything will break in the same way, so only do this if you're absolutely positive you won't be migrating the files anywhere else.
Solid information man, much apprecaite you taking the time to go over quick tips that can be frustrating when your first starting out, lol. Appreciate it
It happened with reference images in my case, and since there were only 3 of them in a folder, it took a second to fix the problem! This really helps, thanks:)
Try checking for time stamps or additional text in your texture file. The MTL file is looking for the exact file name. In my case, i transferred my KIT to my HD and when it did this it added a timestamp to the file name. I needed to use a bulk rename to get rid of the text at the end. It was really annoying.
What if all the textures are embeded on the .blend file because I dont have the image files, just the .blend file how do I fix it? I know it had textures because I go to materials and set somthing as image textures, I can find all the textures
this kinda helped, but it keeps saying some textures can't be found, but i'm looking at them right there in the folder. and this is a recent project that i opened a couple days ago, and nothing was pink.
Thank you for making this video. I sam still very new to Blender and couldn't figure out why the project I downloaded was pink/purple. Never would have thought to look in File.
I'm having a problem of my own with pink textures that may or may not be unrelated: while trying to apply a texture to a simple cube through an image texture node, the cube comes out completely pink, even though the material preview shows the correct texture. Weirder, some textures will work on the cube, while others don't! Getting this problem in both Cycles and Eevee. Gonna guess my problem is a different one. Great video though!
for some people if you download a model or file .blend some textures can have a different format that the one you downloaded convert it then do automatic search for example an error would pop up with the .name like .TGA convert then search
Thank you, This is my first day, and I restarted twice, because it would crash while rendering, and I would come back to missing textures. Thank you again for the help.
omg thanks for this video! i deleted so many models i spend forever on because i thought the textures were broken and the model was based around the texture and if the texture was gone i would just make a new one
Thank you! I'm just starting out and the program is already daunting in itself, so when I woke up and saw all the textures missing after all my work learning yesterday, well.. lol! Great video :)
@@MrCuptastic After I exported j had made a folder for it to go into and a put it in and then went into blender. Then I imported it and pressed texture paint and it turned to purple and I did the thing find missing files but nothing happening after many minutes and I kept trying. Now it’s went from being pink to not changing color at all and just saying missing texture detected.
@@GraphicGR I apologize, I started using the program for the first time 2 days ago, so I'm still very much a noob lol! I don't know what might be the issue unfortunately. I did some reading around tho, but the only things I got was to make sure you're using an updated version of blender. I also saw this, but not sure how helpful it is: "In texture paint mode in the upper bar is a texture slot option. Yours might be set to single image without an image. Change it to material and it will detect your created image."
omg thanks I did not know how to do this so when I would have the purple models I would individually go and change every single texture it was such a pain. thx :)
It pains me to admit how long I spent trying to figure out wtf was going on when I moved one of my folders around but could still see the link and even the texture previews looked fine. This solved it immediately. Thank you!
thanks a lot for this tutorial, i had this same problem for a lot of my old files which became purple as you showed. your tutoriel allowed me to retrieve these files again. I'm very happy of this because this was a hard work during several months. so again and again thanks a looooot.
Justin SUPER HELPFUL! But I have exported a scene from 3ds Max as an FBX and find missing files doesn't work, how do I manually find the textures in the shader that need replacement?
Probably the 4th fix I have come across that doesn't work, i don't even get any error messages about it either and this is me testing it throughout several different models.
the missing textures are always a problem for me, on any project over 2-4 hours all textures bump maps included turn pink out of the blue and make me retexture everything
Awesome video. In my case I had messed around with my base colour settings without realising. Resetting all of the options fixed the problem in case anyone did this as well.
Thank you big time! Subbed. As a Maya user had no idea how to do this obviously. I know it in Maya but useless here :) Quick search and done. Thanks again!
Okay, that was f**king brilliant. Thanks for helping. I was bashing my head against the wall because nobody uses the "External Data/Pack Resources" when they sell their assets online. That would solve this problem. But now you've shown me how to fix this monster issue. Cheers
Thanks so much! I was an idiot and renamed my texture folder without thinking that blender wont find it. I was wondering why the textures suddenly didn’t load 🤦♂️ lol.
I have a similar problem, but the deal is that when I load the textures to the Image texture node the texture file has a "UDIM" written which it doesnt have in the actual file
