I am Lahore born,now living in Delhi.Internet has brought us so close to each other.I used to hear a lot from my late father about Lahore and Chakwal(my grandfather had a lot of landed property in Chakwal,Talagang and Bhaun)You have a very rich voice and you have described everything in a very graceful manner ,in urdu.I think it would be much better if you mix a little bit of Punjabi also because nothing is closer to mother tongue. Coming to Rafi Sahib,I must tell you that he was one of the most respected singers of India and he was a great human being as well.There are various stories about his large heartedness.I would like to say something here.Rajkapoor had nothing against Rafi Sahib but the only thing is that his voice was very different from Rafi Sahib and most of the songs which were picturised on Raj sahib were sung by Mukesh sahib. Mohammad Rafi was born in small village now this town is in India half way between India and Pakistan. His family moved Lahore before partition. He had two brothers one was working in Lahore Carporation and opened his Barber shop in Bhati Gate. It was culturally at the end of days business particularly in Winter there is gatherings of those were jntrested in singing to practice with free tea. I remberber I had friend who was very social able well respected in the local community. Because of him I use to meet him in that barbers shop. A straw mat warm inside few of them sing Bulhay Shahq or Waris Shah klaam. I was very much intresetd in this environments because my father was Sitar player and authority in Waris Shah kasay a classical romantic story of Heer Rangha. Very well known in classical music and Raggas Slamat Ali Khan and brothers. Bhati gate was known for fun and use of Bhati gate style or every day talk. If you were sad you go to inner Bhati gate. I can cherish best part of my youthful life. Outside Bhati gate in winter also live theatre use to put on canopy Just before tha entrance a comedian dressed up as a clown . His act was to attract intrested In theatre to buy ticket to get in. I remember once I whet to see Heer Rangha play. During the scene the cow relieved whit her Phoo. Stage drama was cancelled and voucher was given in compensation to see in your ease and convenience.
