When you're watching Temple of Doom and you think that's a pretty unrealistic mine. And then you see a place like this, whoaza!

All I can say is, WOW, Frank, this really was a superb exploration, and you mentioned that you only saw about 10% of the workings? This mine must be absolutely huge! I could imagine the sounds of ore carts going through that mine , going backwards and forwards etc , that mine sure is massive and some sketchy bridges as well. Why would they have doors deep into a mine though , was that to stop the blasting coming through??

This mine was quite the adventure! It had just about everything in there- historic graffiti, elaborate timbering, unique mineral deposits, vintage mining equipment, accessible ladders, and miles of underground workings! I'm glad we all got to experience this one, Frank!

Thank you for bringing us this fascinating insight into how far this mine went and it's multiple levels. It is certainly quite well preserved inside bearing in mind it's age and long life in production. The colours in it are very impressive too. The bridge over the pit of death sounds something like an attraction on a ghost train ride in a fairground!

Hey Frank! I’ve recently come across the Mi Vida uranium mine in Utah this weekend, and there are lots of portals and adits to explore in the area. It is accessible via a paved road off of us highway 191. Would love to see a video on it if you ever get the chance

Well that was certainly an adventure. Your taking the boards over those pits reminds me of when I was a young punk working installing a/c in the Bakersfield area. We were in an attic and there was a gas leak, could smell it strong. I said to the old timer I was with, "You don't think it will explode do you?" He thought for a moment and drawled, "Probably won't." Same logic applies crossing on those boards. A great adventure that was like a dirty ride on the "Thunder Mountain Railroad" at Disneyland. That thing snaked all over the place.

I've never been inside of a mine. Truth be told, I probably never will. I do ,however, follow a few mining exploration channels that love to wander about in the dust of those old mines out West. While I enjoy, vicariously, walking along with them, along the way, I have also developed an admiration for those "crusty" miners of long ago. They lived in small cabins or tents, ate their meals from tin cans and rolled their cigarettes from loose leaf tobacco and opened their steel canned beers with a "church key." With dynamite, picks and shovels, they wrested from the earth the minerals which fueled the bon fire of our industrial revolution. In between hauling out loads, they found time to leave their mark with the smoke from their carbide lamps. As always, enjoyed the video.

When you find graffiti I wish you would record it so we can freeze it and try to read it ourselves, rather than just walking past it.
