I happened to be in Germany so I thought, why not do a crate digging video while I was there! I happened upon this gem of a shop with rarities galore and variety that would please any collector. Join me on my hunt as I dig through the rare records and see what I find!

Germany is an amazing place for records. I was just in Berlin and found myself surrounded by record stores and places selling records such as flea markets, cafes, restaurants and bookshops. So fun to watch this video.

When i went to japan, the nice people at recofan boxed up, about 7 to a box, and i stacked them in the middle of my bigger luggage surrounded by clothes. I brought home 32 records that way and nothing happened to them

When I fly without check-in luggage I always still bring a bag with vinyls with me, never had an issue with that. A backpack and a shopping bag

Already the first LP in the rare section rack is a Danish psych classic. The band is Alrune Rod (Meaning Mandrake Root) and they performed some fuzzy psych similar to early Gilmour-era Pink Floyd and Nektar. That is their third album, Alrune Rock, where the band began to write shorter and more straight to the point psych rockers.

That shop looks amazing. So much great stuff. I found out very recently, that the Fair Weather Album on Neon UK is technically a second press. It originally came out in the UK on RCA Victor in the sleeve design you showed there and was then re-issued on Neon. Not sure of the story behind this. Keep up the good work 🙂

Would've been great to see a bit more of the Krautrock, looks well worth visiting. I've taken records back as hand/checked luggage a few times, isn't all that difficult. I appreciate if you only had a small rucksack you didn't wanna take the risk.

Great video Jake! I really enjoyed it. Very nice collection of Vertigo swirls in the rarities section. Cool record shop. I bet the shop has a decent selection of Krautrock records - I did spot an Amon Duul section :)

Couple of stores south of the river that I used when in Germany several years ago: No. 2 Records Wallstrase. 15 · 60594 Frankfurt (recommended) and Sick Wreckords nearby in Schulstrase, much smaller but with some bargains at the time.

Well, you've got to buy 20 or 25 LP's, then stack them, alternating the spines, putting the most valuable records in the middle and a couple of cheap ones on the outside on each side. Then you are going to put the stack in a tote bag and make sure it is a tight fit. Not tight enough? Buy more records. Now you will not have an issue when you put them in a backpack because the stack is braced. Although now you might be over the hand luggage weight limit...

I like the video! When I find a record I like I always look from were it is - I avoid pressings from East-Germany, Yugoslavia, India, mostly Italy and some others, but it when it says UK, US, or Germany I am curious, as they are mostly equally great, the best, of course are from Japan - that`s why I can`t get this Swirl-talking...

You can't take your records on the plane? It 's what I always did when I went to the UK before Brexit. Bought my records, put them in the suitcase, wrapped them up tight among clothes and stuff and nothing ever happened.

Dear collectors from abroad, please don't buy the 70s rarities as german pressings here in Germany. You absolutely have to buy the US or UK ones, because they are much better than the German ones😂😉 and you can pay much more money for them. Seriously, in the 70s the plates from the US and UK were often sent to Germany and pressed here. It's just that the vinyl quality in Germany was often better. But keep believing in the US, UK first press hype. I believe in German first pressings. But if you are more interested in the value of the collection, you have to buy expensive but Investing in records is like riding a dead horse.
