I was just wondering why you don't hear of people swapping rotary engines into projects? It seems like everyone is either swapping GM LS engines or Honda K-K-Series engines into projects or cars. Are Rotary engines that much more expensive? Or are there no transmission options or transmission adapters for them, or is it something that I'm missing? I just would think that mazda rotary engine swaps would be more prevalent.
Great stuff man. Love the videos and the positive attitude. Your always cool, even when there’s criticism in the comments. It’s contagious and makes me want to get back in the garage with my daughter and continue the projects. She loves mechanic work AND your, Rob and Kyles videos.
Hey, i was curious, is there a specific switch i should send to my relay to have the electronic radiator fan come on when it should? If so, where is it located? Need to get rid of this cracked old fan before it blows up on my rad, lol. And didnt really want to put it to a switch or hardwired on with ignition.
How available are Parts, Luckily ive never had to go out and buy new housings or rotors ..yet, do mazda still make them new or is it just a case of have a look and buy what you can get?
I'm still new to this stuff but I keep wondering if there's not some economical way to strip and re-chrome the housings. But I figure if there were someone would be out there doing it and making bank.
@RAD Potential I also have to wonder about some of the latest high tech ceramic stuff. Maybe someday once I've gotten my kids through college I can't play at that high level provided I still have my health.
i used to know an old timer who would use enp to do something like this. say a machine shop undersized an expensive part, he'd plate it to size. i don't see why a damaged rotor couldn't be machined past the damage then brought back to size, then chrome plated. i've thrown the idea out to a few people and the response has been 'sounds interesting. when you try it, let the community know if it works.' i don't know what part of i'm a broke fc owner these people don't understand. i can say go to this guy for machining. and go to this guy for metal finishing. but i don't have the money to do it myself. if no one tries this on spare parts before i can afford to, i will let you know if it works.
I spun a front bearing at the track and decided to drive home. 1 hour into the trip I couldn't go any more it just got worse and worse, 90% of the engine was trash. I should have towed it. Lesson is, as soon as you detect something is wrong, stop before you do more damage
At 3k for a reb kit and that's if you have good parts to rebuild is ridiculous on a car that's not even a corvette. These cars are junk. Period. Paul matthew engine builder.
