Founders have long been confused about how to value their startup and how much equity to give to the investors especially in the first investment round. For early startups, there is no mathematical model to find the valuation but simple techniques. In this video, I will let you know a simple method that you may use to decide on how much equity you would want to dilute for your first investment round.

we totally understand what you said but suppose we have no business and we make a good revenue (1cr) by the help of 10 lacs(invstmt at10%). wont it be diffcult to shoot the valuation 10 times in second round . if at 0 revenue i m getting a value of 1 cr will the investor in 2nd round give me a value of 10+ cr despite of 1cr revenue ?

Sir yc also invest in very very very early stage stage startup where product is also not ready in so many cases . But ultimately they become successful nd yc valu a startup around 5-10 million$ but ultimately they become successful.... What actually matters is how big the market is and can it be unicorn... So if pre revenue startup valied at 10 cr still Angel can make 100× return

so suppose we are in seed funding stage and want around 10 lacs for 10% stake which gets evaluation to 1cr. So do we need to make a promise to investor that in 3-5 year we'll give them return of x% for sure?

Hey Nasim, congrats for your achievements. First make sure it is a startup and not a business. Not enough information to tell you the valuation, depends on how you want to dilute and raise. Have made a separate video on finding investors, you may check that.

Ok Rajat What if my startup generates revenue of 60Lakh p.a ... so should i say my company valuation is 60 * 5 = 3Cr* , or valuation will remain 0 because no one cares huh!

Hey Gourav, nice point. If you generate 60L pa at early-stage without even raising any investment and have a sound business plan. Your valuation should be even above 3cr! The concept in the video is for typical early-stage startups who are in the pre-seed/seed or angel stage. They usually are pre-revenue.
