The historical weight Leonardo's name carries, is only one aspect of the divinity of this painting questionable though it may be. It is significant to a high degree, but obviously, the painting is a hybrid of influences, and several people may have or did in fact build on its greatness. A woman's hand restored this work to an ultimate perfection, as your sublime video here shows. A woman in deep grief, who shows what we can see and feel and know, a reflection of the sacred in our inner being, reflects back to us through this work so obviously inspired by God and or his angels. Her hand, inspired by an angel, the spirit of da Vinci, a student who contributed, or God the Almighty? How rare is it to see and recognize a miracle of what feels like it transmits an element of the divine, if ever one gets to see a painting so magnificent? It was my aunt and uncle who had it in there home for almost 60 years.... there are in heaven now and are probably giggling with glee that they had owned this. Maybe they are giving Leonardo a high five up in heaven. Sad, however, that when my cousins sold this in the estate sale, they had no idea what it was......obviously...... they got about 2k for it....

@@commonsense31 There was no documentation whatsoever in declaring this painting to be a DaVinci. Two things were done - First, there was a visual examination by DaVinci experts in both the US and Europe who deemed the painting to be authentic based on style and on quality. Second, an analysis was done on the paint, canvas, and wood frame to date the painting to the 16th century and trace the origin of the materials used to northern Italy. Those checked out but of course an exact date couldn't be given. The painting could have been done later in the 16th century after DaVinci's death. Now do you think those alone are good enough to prove authenticity of a painting done by a master that could be worth tens or even hundreds of millions of dollars? Given the monies involved, there was certainly an incentive to declare this painting to be genuine.

Well, it sorta IS Leonardo, just not in the shape and form as it were ''restored'' into. Look at the cleaned version, the modelling and realistic features of the painting are excellent, albeit there are significant damages. Modestini gave the picture an artificial cartoonish 2D appearance, that can no longer be called a Leonardo by any stretch of imagination..

Well As it has been confirmed through Research and Historic notes, History books and all the Experts that has spend a lifetime studying the tiniest method and tiny deviations of Leonardo DaVinci. I think I'm gonna trust the Evidence presented and the experts. And not some random Painters on RU-vid, That has some valid Trust issue with Authorities about something that was sold for 400Million USD.

What is disgusting is the original owners only got $700 after the dealers bought online for $1200 and immediately assigned Martin Kemp to ble$$ the battered plank. Literally major inCONsistencies in provenance and the attribution is very controversial. The Pentimento theory or thumb duplicate is a classic forgers trick. Any decent forger would know how to manipulate a close inspection. Beltracci did brillaint fakes for years as Sothebys continued to sell his works via dealers. Carlos Slim was sold multiple fakes of Modigliani and other works with the authentication validated by multiple experts. The Mundi is just another Delusion for The Masses. The Modestini Mega Makeover ensued without any disclosure or scrutiny. Apparently there are no physical HD pre 2005 photos. In other words there is no evidence to view any microbial aspects or deduce chronology to cross examine. Agreed, not a Leonardo, who's figures are always twisting and turning against the light. This is far too simple to be a Leonardo. However, I believe the facial features are impressive and may have been touched by the master himself. It has that hazy dream affect akin to the Mona Lisa.
