How to hold a hip hinge during the drive phase?

This one comes from @pitchmechanics101, who asks about "ideas for pitchers to hold their hinge better during back hip load/drive and not extending early." I finally felt this properly when I was pitching last week and ripped the hardest fastball I’ve thrown in a while. It almost felt like my body was lighter as I drove towards the plate because I got in probably the optimal position. You just don’t know the feeling until you do.

Have you watched any of Joey Myers videos from the Hitting Performance Lab? His book changed the way I coached my son and other players swing. It just made sense. That’s what led me on the path to discover someone teaching pitching like that. You guys should get together and share info for a book series. His is a best seller on Amazon I think you’d have the same success.

Can you elaborate on what you mean, when you say to relax the back hip into rotation?

I activate my glute well during the hinge drill, but my drive knee hurts when I throw because the hip shoots away and the knee caves inward. How can I keep my knee from caving while loading the glute in the drill?

You can try this feel that we came up with. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HiJFPA7JgSo.html The idea is to maintain a firm "strong" angle on the back leg as you move forward versus caving into early valgus. Another cue it to keep the kneecap pointing towards the SS for a righty as long as you can.
