This was SO helpful. The place I moved into has a safe that was left by the previous tenants, thankfully it was left open (no key). I was racking my brain on what to do w/o calling a locksmith and paying who knows how much and probably would have done the same thing you showed. It worked, thank you so much!!
Thank you for your informative video. I acquired an opened Sentry D880 Floor Safe, and with the help of your video, I was able to find the combination. Now I'm on the hunt for the ability to change the combination. Cheers!
This video was a huge help. Bought a house that had a 2 hour fire and Burglary gardall safe inside. The door was open! Been looking and calling for combo resulted in no help. Watched your video one time. BAM! $1800 SAFE BABYYYYYY!!! Thanks so much for sharing.
Thank you this was extremely helpful. My dad passed away last year and I was cleaning out the garage and found and old browning gun safe. Didn’t even know he still had it I remembered it from when I was a kid but for the life of me couldn’t remember the combination. Glad I found this video
I can confirm that this works on the first alert 2087f, I picked one up from a garage sale with only the override key and didn’t know the combination, took the inside cover off and there was the sticker with the combination on it (bottom of sticker in brackets ) I also did it the way as shown in video and both worked , thanks muchly
Thanks I'll try this! My friend moved into a new house about a year ago and the previous owners left a pretty heavy safe behind that nobody knows the combination to. I hope this helps find the combination so we can use it!
How does this video only have 1k likes lol ty we were given a combination a few years ago however we never use it. We store stuff in it but do not lock it. Wewas always afraid we'd forget the combo it's been so long ago I forgot the combination thank God the door has always been kept open.
Did you figure out your combination from my video? I hope so. By the way, I like your name it sounds very familiar to me. I actually have a cousin named David Crockett. I am distantly related to Davy Crockett so we are always interested in family history.
That's handy if the safe has that for sure. The interesting thing about this safe, was that one of the numbers was 2 marks off from the original combo.
Thank you Thank you Thank you!!! I was just today trying to figure out how to reset or determine what the previous combination on a safe that our Dad owned years ago. We never new the combination so it just sat in the office for 2 decades. This video was the exact video I needed. It's a Safe-D-Posit Mighty Max safe with a combo/key set up. If I couldn't get the combination figured out, I was just remove it and just use the key, but thanks to you i have the combination. Luckily the door was open, cause there isn't any getting into it once it's locked. At least not without a cutting torch!🤣Thanks again! Just subbed!
Thank you Phil! We recently bought a house built in 1917, and it has a built in wall safe. The previous owners did not know the combination (and they were here for 60 years!) but I used your technique to figure it out. No brand name, but it does have brass tumblers. It was a fun project. By the way, do you know what would be a good lubricant for that brass mechanism? Thanks again
Phil, you are my new "go-to-guy", have you solved the "squirrel ruining the bird feeder" trick? you solved my deck chair pads , thanks. if only I could cut and weld steel. ;-). Nice detailed videos. I'll bet you spend as much or more time on the video and set up than the actual project. Its all good fun and appreciated. I should try it.
YES! The video editing and publishing takes WAY longer than the normal filming. Thanks for watching and commenting. You are the reason I keep this going.
Do you know if there is any way to change the combination of this safe? I have the key and know the original combo if that matters. Looking at the mechanism however it looks as if it wouldn't be possible. @Phil Crockett
I just inherited a Sentry S3110 from my dad when he moved. Apparently while some grandkids were visiting, the safe door was open and locked with the bolts out. During the move, the combination disappeared. Got any suggestions on how to unlock an open door? If I could get the bolts to retract, I could remove the cover as you demonstrate and figure out the combination myself.
You say the door is open. So you can't take the cover off when the bolts are out? I'm assuming you don't have a key? You will need to contact the company. There's a form to fill out that will need a Notary Public to sign. Give that a try and let me know how it turns out. But........ my opinion on it.......... I would save up and get a Liberty safe..... they are way better quality. IMO
You would probably need to manipulate the cams in different positions, but I've never tried that before. Sounds like it would be a fun thing to play around with. Just make sure you don't lock your key in the safe! (I actually did this once and had to get a key from the company.......had to sign a bunch of forms with id and Notary Public stamp)
I understand. However, you could write the company and get a key and/or combo. It just takes some paperwork and a notary public approval. Hope this helps.
I wish. Actually.... I had to reach the company (long story short) to get an extra key. I had to get a notary public involved. Anyway.....the combo that they gave me was a little off and wouldn't work. I ended up using the one that I figured out. These a cheap crappy safes anyway. This one was given to me without the combo.
@@PhilCrockett Phil I'm serious it only has one number. Its an bank ATM safe and only has one number for easy convince I've opened both safes with one number before I just forgot the sequence. To open.
My Mom who is elderly has a safe and she's unable to keep the sequence of events in her brain that you have to do to use a combination to open her safe. I always do the combination for her except when I get to the last number I stop right before it reaches the number. I gave her the single number 55 which is the last number of the combination and she knows to turn it approximately 3 digits to 55 to get it to open. As long as she doesn't move it any farther than 3 digits from 55 she can lock and unlock her safe. That's the only way she can work a safe.
The bolts on the locking side are held in place by plastic retainers and when a crow bar or hefty screw driver is applied between the door and seam, the plastic mounts break away from the door. What idiot cheapskate designer thought, let's make our critical safe lock components out of plastic.
@@PhilCrockett Not the honest ones you're protecting your goodies from, is it? FYI I'd not so much call it a review, but a criticism of the lack of manufacturing strength in selecting all plastic locking parts. May keep a curious child out.... LOL 🤣😅
Yes I can help! You can call the manufacturer of the safe, and they will tell you what you need to do. You WILL most liked have to fill out a form, and have it Notarized by a "Notary Public". You will also need the Model number and Serial Number of the safe. This will then be verified and the records will be updated with your info in the companies system as you being directly associated / owner of this safe. You will then pay a price for new keys and may be given the combination to the safe. I've actually done this before.
I agree. That's probably why I got it for free. In fact, ANY safe can be opened with a saw. You're better off just not owning any valuables. THat's the safest way to keep valuables from getting stolen. Thanks for stating the obvious, Clorox Bleach! I love your style!!!
@@PhilCrockett I have not used a magnet myself but saw some Locksmith from Canada on RU-vid open up a Smaller Sentry safe with some type of fairly strong magnet.
What a beautiful pen worth not selling these models in Brazil, such a model must cost very cheap in the United States, but here in Brazil, country of corruption and inflation, such a model should cost more than a car !!!
My safe can be opened with a key, or combo. Does yours have a keyed entry as well? If so, then you can contact the manufacturer and request a key. That's what I had to do. You will have to get a notary public and fill a form out, but totally worth it. hope this helps.
You have to contact the company and they will give you instructions to follow for obtaining a key. You will have to get a notary public when you sign for a new key. Not hard to do, but that's how to do it.
Adam Smith Phil Crockett yes. It is contact manipulation. With direct entry fence/wheels, like the model in the video, you measure the movement of the handle into a gate. With a drop in fence you measure the contact points of the fence into the gates. A stetoscope is only useful if you can't feel the drop in points like a bank vault where the wheel pack is almost a foot away from the dial. Its basically touch and sight (minimal changes of measurements of dial numbers) what is used in a successfull manipulation. So yes, to open a safe using sound only is a Hollywood myth.
