It is not a horse issue. It is a human issue.

Remember,,, horses and ponies can be very protective, nervous and aggressive when feed is in proximity. Horses anxieties can contort and warp, meshed through various emotions, via visual, sound, tactile,,, and smell memories.

I have a very dominant mare who is always pinning ears- she came to me that way- and is still that way- but I learned that with her there is a point where the pin is meaning certain things- I have no idea what happened in her breaking process or with any thing that happened before I got her except that she hates black trenchcoats- that is all I know- so I figure someone wearing a black trench coat hurt her- so I did some work on her accepting. me in a black trenchcoat and that went well- but she still pins her ears all the time- just the way she is- she is a sweetheart but scares people alot and I guess she gets them to leave by pinning her ears so thats why she does it. I know when to take it seriously after 7 years of working with her- and I am fine with being around her- but I also know her very well- so can read her moods and stay safe. I wouldnt recommend getting a horse that constantly pins ears unless you are willing to stay the course and really learn about that horse to know its true meanings and its limits. Having said that- I would never get rid of a horse just because it pins its ears- sometimes the real cause for it is not able to be fully known- especially if you dont know the history- my girl was sold twice before I got her- whe was young, and inexperienced and afraid of people- but she for me is the closest hores I have- I know her and she knows me- there is an understanding and respect and she has never attacked me in fact she tries to go at other horses that are coming round me- she rounds them up and holds them in a corner- she is jealous if I work with the other horses. So I think for her she wants just one person- and thats it- she doeant care about other horses- she will go on her own- and doesnt have anxiety about leaving the herd- just like some people- they are loners- some people are social- horses have same differences amongst the herd. Thanks for the video- was interesting to watch and learn about this horse and why the ears are pinning-

My mare behaves like this. She is very impatient and doesn't like her face to be touched or she will try to bite you. Will this exercise work for her biting problem too?

Did you find a solution?

It is not 'her biting problem'. She is not the issue. It is you. You are causing the horse to do that.

Does always means they are aggressive or it mean they are in pain!

Source of irritability is low rafters in barn areas. I'd be pissed too if I had to worry about hitting my head on a rafter if I stand up too straight in the wrong place in my house. BTW, maybe call the Word Salad Girl in the White-House for a root cause investigation - she'll solve the problem.
