Some of the best trails I've ever ridden that were both technical and enjoyable we're in Richmond the buttermilk trail the River North trail dogwood Dell and even more. May I suggest you try Pocahontas State Park just outside of Richmond they have some of the best trail systems for mountain bikers in the state

Some of the rocks on that trail, even when dry, are like buttery slick. No traction in places on bare rock. Fun place!

Their stair sets of doom are really fun. There is also a tight one, usually packed with people, when you cross over the river to Belle Isle. Not a big fan of the stupid-steep uphills though. We have basically the same terrain, with less rocks, on the Rappahannock just to the north of there.
