I learned with my daughter who is 13 months right now to let her self soothe herself to sleep. She would wake up 2 or 3 times during the night when she was 6 or 7 months wanting a bottle. But as soon as I stopped giving her a bottle before bed and made sure she wouldn't fall asleep while drinking it she was fine. They say if they fall asleep doing that it wakes them up because that's the last thing they remember doing before going to sleep and wake up upset and wants it back. Idk just something to try out. Good luck. I was there it takes time.

Life moves fast, but balance is so important. It really allows you to reset, refresh & come back stronger. We have been working to find balance with personal & intimate time too after a rough year of being diagnosed with cancer & having major surgery but love truly does conquer all and we continue to work towards finding that same balance. Take it day by day, you’re doing amazing 😊

I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND! My husband and I found a way to get our intimacy. We send our daughter every other weekend to the grandparents. It’s helped with us so well now she’s three.

I know it’s hard, but as parents, we have to set boundaries. As a mom of 2 and 1 on the way, it’s important to keep your bed, YOUR bed. Also, make an arrangement with someone that you trust, that can give you one or two date nights a month. And being consistent with your new schedule is important for your relationship. Also, it’s natural for breastfed babies to start cluster feeding again when they go through growth spurts. You guys are doing great!

I just want to start off saying I love you guys and been watching you guys since FOREVER, but listening to you guys talking about having me time just hit me a little because me time is VERY important as a parent, it's a blessing for those who have both parents being active,together or not. It sucks in my case and is making me a tad emotional because my son doesn't have that, I've been a single parent since I had my son in 2019. It's definitely hard but I do what I have to do to make sure my son is well taken care of. Shine is very lucky to have you guys. Y'all are doing a great job, don't let anyone tell you guys otherwise

Y’all are doing a great job. My daughter is 1 1/2 & her sleep schedule get disrupted every few months too. It could also be because he’s teething too. Usually when my daughter is teething/teeth are cutting her schedule is super off as well. I hope it gets better in a couple weeks ❤️❤️❤️❤️ y’all got it!

The best advice would be allowing more help into your lives if you need it and have that option. The saying “it takes a village to raise a child” is a fact! I’m a mom of 5 and although their dad is here helping it’s SO HARD to get us time as well. When we do we have to pay and thinking about doing that having 5 mouths to feed and bills to pay plus payoff for whatever we do on date night makes us not even want to go out. And it gets stressful and it can also cause problems in the relationship so again if you guys need the help and have it don’t be ashamed to take it!!

Thanks for keeping it real guys! You two are doing great! My husband and I have four children I can relate to everything you said. Parenthood is a constant transition, but I promise it will start balancing out. The older Shine gets especially when he starts getting cereal or a little more food in his system he will start sleeping better at night hang in there! Also not sure if you guys have a swing but that works wonders once he starts getting used to it! Hiring a post partum doula could help as well for intimacy and me time too

Parenting looks much tougher than I thought watching this vlog. You both are doing so well being parents for just a little over 3 months. I really do hope I can do this good when I become a parent. More grease to your elbows Riss and Quan.

Love your honesty in this video because becoming parents is a huge adjustment. You don’t want to lose yourself and you also want to nurture your relationship. I believe setting a schedule and using your “village” will definitely help. It’s rough in the beginning to establish the routine & some days it may not even happen as planned but it’s okay. My hubby & I had to recently do the same thing since we had our second child together. It’s also more rough because we are opposite schedules as far as I work days and he works nights but by the grace of God you find the balance as you both put forth that effort ❤️. You Guys are doing great. Finding me time for yourselves is extremely important, even if it's for only 20 minutes. It's normal for babies to gurgle, particularly when they're fighting sleep. Shine is still young. He's very smart and growing fast and beautiful. Things will begin to balance out more and more. It's great that you Guys are addressing It. Just don't turn on each other. You may have to schedule intimacy time. It's cool. You're an Awesome team and can and will get through this together. Love you, Guys.

You guys are blessed in so many ways...1 of those ways is with supportive present grand parents! May I suggest you start back your once a week date night and have Shine chill with any of his grandparents. Keep on doing what yall are doing though, yall are REAL and are doing GREAT and we thank you for sharing your journey with us...it is very inspiring.

You guys are doing an amazing job. 👏 as a couple, as parents, and as an entire family unit. 👪 Maybe try to have a grandparents day? Once a week, once every other week, whatever works for you. Then maybe utilize a date night babysitter like Rissas sister. Use all of your help for sure to get date nights, personal days, or a mix of both in the same day. The weekly idea is amazing too!! I'm currently a single mom of 2 with zero support system and I have a 4.5 year old and a 1 month old that have opposite sleep schedules. I have to get very creative how I use my time so that I can take care of my personal needs. For example I set the baby in the seat and wash my face while my son is eating or taking a nap. I wear him on me and make myself food or I wouldn't eat 😂 Or, when both of them are awake and I need to do things I will turn on a dance video for myself with them around me in the living room. Sometimes even getting your body moving feels like you're doing self care, and releasing endorphins. When my son was Shines age he loved watching me dance and workout. I hope this helps. 🙏 💙

Good morning, You two are amazing parents so don't be too hard on yourself even when it gets a little hard. All of that is to make you stronger in whatever you do next if that make sense. Your baby boy is growing into his next development stage and teething and getting you two to do what he wants LOL. I'm here to tell you it's the cutest thing ever. I'm so glad you have all of this on video for him to see later when he's older. I love how you two support each other and the support of your family. For me, I was a single parent of two at age 19 1/2 and 25, worked full time, attempted college full time but decided to devote all of my time to be a mom which I was very grateful to do. I had the support of my family as well, some women don't have that at all and for some of them, it can be extremely hard. I was able to put all of my time energy into my babies they were worth it. I'm now a Nana of two beautiful grandchildren. As I watch your beautiful baby boy make those beautiful sounds to fight his sleep reminds me of my granddaughter who did the exact same thing at his age that I video her. It's so funny because him waking up like that, you are not alone. My baby girl did the same thing LOL. It's their baby language only they understand and you two are learning to figure him out which is very beautiful. I love the fact Shine looks like both of you, he's like a chameleon. Ik it’s hard, I have two kids & due April with my third, mind you my oldest don’t even turn two until May. I can honestly say that you guys wear it well!! You guys are very much appreciated because you still continue to give us content! Parenting is definitely a full time job & not an easy one!

First off I want to say that you guys are doing a great job and I love watching your content and seeing Shine smile and laugh and play with you guys. Definitely brightens my bad days. You guys are always so open with Us. That means a lot. I am a mom of 4 and my oldest begin almost 17 and youngest begin 5. I would definitely suggest sleeping training. It will definitely give y'all the balance you are looking for. His feeding naps and bedtime would be at the same time every time. It has worked wonders for me. My youngest 2 kids are 6 and 5 and they are still on a sleep schedule. Bedtime is 10pm-8 school starts at 9. I hope this advice reaching you and hopefully help. Sincerely speaking you are doing a tremendous job as first time parents, even as parents period. You are doing so great. Scheduling the me time is a good strategy and has high chances of working because it will now be a part and parcel of your schedule, it won't be outside of your schedule. That strategy worked for me as well.

Yes you are Blessed to work from home I had to go back to work when my son turned 2 months it was hard eventho his older brother and his girlfriend watched him it’s still nothing like you being there as a parent so I’m happy you guys don’t have to experience that. Y’all!!!! I feeeeelll y’all!! My husband And I go through the same thing . It’s a process and it’s worth it but it’s even better when you have a planned schedule. Plan plan plan and if anything has to change go back ti the drawing board and plan again because you will have to shift the schedule when things come up. Seasons change in our lives and (not just outside seasons ) in our relationship with our partner(spouse) , children , work etc. it’s a great thing y’all pretty much got the hint of what to do . Application is the key and consistency as you both know. Having your first baby , a business, a great spouse is beautiful and worth growing through things that life throws at you . I definitely understand! But as y’all work together it will definitely workout. I always say this our children are small humans and they go through , they grow, have mood swings , etc just like us so we have to be understanding and flow with them as well . Y’all got this ! Stay strong! ☺️ p.s we used teething tablets for our daughter. Hope it helps .

Y’all are amazing first time parents. I remember when I had my first I had PPD it was really rough. Y’all are doing amazing. You mentioned you weren’t sure what’s the right age for food. Nowadays it’s recommended to not start any foods not even purées until 6 months due to your baby's digestive system has what is called an “open gut.” This means that there are spaces between the cells of the small intestine which allow proteins and pathogens to pass into the bloodstream. Every parent is different I fed my first 3 kids at 4 months before I knew about this. My last 3 some of them didn’t eat until a year old because technically they don’t need food until a year. It’s more of a fun and learning experience around 6 months.

Im really glad you guys touched on this of course its a blessing being a parent and it comes with its on joys but definitely STRUGGLES. So implanting a schedule for the week for our personal time was the best thing we did for our selves. And We slowly adjusted our baby’s bedtime so that we could have more couple time together. Without being exhausted at the end of the night. Of course that does take away from our mornings and sleeping im but eventually they start to sleep longer as they get older so that helps . And you just learn how to work off that schedule and my daughter is 9months and i still take “naps when she naps “ lol 😆 so that i can have the needed energy throughout the day . Also we keep a large “social” calendar in our hallway and we try to keep a balance and plan our outings and hobbies for the month

First things first you both are doing a great job.... being new parents can be challenging but it's just leveling up which requires more. When I listen to you guys share you do know what to do cause it's your fundamental principle for self, as a couple, work that just has to roll over into parenting, you both just have guilt (maybe) that Shine will not be apart or you will miss out which could be tied to whatever was both your experience as a child that you may have desired from your parents or maybe how time as changed to now, remember the love you have for yourselves as individuals and together is also sharing your love with him. Wish someone told me this cause after a while it builds frustration and can cause division in focus but you guys will find your rhythm... blessings

Truthfully, I've learned for me. I was given so much advice, watched so many videos and felt that I was as prepared as I could be. But I had to learn that no amount of advice will matter because it'll be your experience that'll fit your routine. It'll literally be trial and error. It'll take some time but the family's schedule will fall right into place. Of course you'll still take bits and pieces from all your experiences and people around you though.

My daughter is 5months she was doing the same thing going down perfectly sleeping about 6-8hrs a night and then she went through something called sleep regression. That might be it for shine. Also it could just be a growth spurt hopefully you guys get through that 🥰

I know you guys are venting and not complaining but welcome to parenthood. Your life is no longer yours, it now revolves around the life you created. You guys are extremely blessed in every sense! My husband and I get maybe a handful of times to ourselves per year and that’s being generous. We have no outside support and it’s literally just us two raising our queens but I wouldn’t trade it for anything in this world. Also, you guys have the money and means to take a maternal/paternal leave. Take that time to truly cherish your boy and get the rest you both deserve. A lot of us have to work hard to accumulate just enough to get by and struggle while on these leaves and are forced to return right away but you guys have it easier . I say this all with all the respect in the world because no matter the circumstance, it is hard to be a parent . I just want y’all to realize how blessed you are and can make this happen while knowing us supporters will definitely understand and be here upon your return. God bless and have a good night

I know y’all don’t want to miss milestones but one night at grandmas will not hurt I had to learn this with my baby.
