A podcast?! who would have thought. let me know if you want more of these. Michael is the Co-Founder of AOD with me, and right now you can join AOD at the best price possible with our early bird SALE, nearly 40% off. See you inside AOD: shop.theartofdocumentary.com/
This is well done Mark. Podcasts can be a good strategy, but they take some time to really gain traction. I co-founded a VC software accelerator and produce our podcast ("Startup Stories from the Treehouse" - my co-founder hosts). It really takes a full season of 6-10 episodes to prove out. If you can leverage your following on RU-vid to drive traffic you could get to an audience there faster. But you'll definitely want to use something like Simplecasts to publish to Spotify/Apple - that's where you long-term audience growth will be for this type of content. Thanks for all your work on content here - delivering this level of quality consistently is challenging....
This is such a wonderful discussion that highlights that Filmmaking is more than a vocation... it is a lifestyle, and it reflects who you are and who you aspire to be. I'm truly grateful for AOD and the insights you both share so authentically.
I love the business partnership / relationship you two have, and hearing how you discuss it. I love your more philosophical conversations. I love the community you’ve built, the team you’ve built (Kim, Landan, Lewis!), and how good you both are at teaching more generally. I just love all of this. Thank you for being awesome.
I would’ve paid good money just to hear this conversation. Only halfway through and man I’m gunna have to listen again. So good and helpful in so many ways
Thank you, you two! This was incredibly beneficial, insightful. I joined AOD last week, and it’s helpful to get to know you guys when we can as members. Hopefully you’ll do another episode soon!
Michael is an exceptional director; I appreciate his attentive listening and valuable advice. Missing out on their Zoom workshop would be a loss. Mark, the same genuine person you see on RU-vid, possesses a remarkable heart. Not everyone is blessed with the skillset of Mark Bone 🫶🏽
Wow. This is just chalked full of so many key learning outcomes and actionable takeaways. Thank you guys for continually pouring into the community like this. 🙏🏽
no this is awesome. this was fun to listen to as I clean up the studio lol, but having michael in a non-zoom call chat, was a good change up, feels like we don't hear from him enough! and as always, love hearing marky mark
Wow, impact production really hit home for me. I love learning new vocab in the industry that helps me pinpoint what it is that I'm going for! This podcast was absolutely satisfying and beyond helpful. Thank you!
This was an excellent exploration of filmmaking and the thought process. Operations management with an arts focus is a unique cross section of experience. If you are serious in this need let us know. I feel pretty sure that you will find people with this experience in your audience.
Stumbled across you guys a few weeks ago and have been consuming everything. Just heard the best quote from Michael. I want to be a good father a good husband and a good filmmaker. I love the simplicity and clarity of that.
This is helpful. An open and honest discussion about film making. Perhaps more helpful than you think, even? I’m one of the 1% who listenen in until the end. I am indeed looking forward to another video podcast. Soo much to learn and dive into.
All of the courses look amazing. I am almost tempted to purchase all of them but was wondering are there additional discount codes in addition to the early bird sale? Also, I am interested in having the opportunity to meet for office hours which will available in module 2, but I have not completed module 1. I definitely know I want to buy Module 1 and the Cinematic Eye, but am wondering if it is premature to buy Advanced Doc.
The additional sales are when you bundle. You can save $1300+ off the regular price when you bundle them together. You’ll see in the shopping cart how much you’re saving with each additional product And it’s never too early to jump into the advanced if you’re looking for feedback. This is great at any stage. There will be questions you get answered in the advanced course (module 2) about your directing that will help you in tandem with documentary foundations (module 1)
Michael Del Monte, I know you struggled in school, but that’s no reason to trot out trite, bigoted stereotypes like that there are “no atheists in a foxhole”. If you can’t get your point across without denying the convictions and humanity of people that don’t believe the same as you, then perhaps you should talk less.
