Thanks for posting this. I just got a Powermax 45 XP last week and was wondering how well each type of consumable worked. Also good to know about the aftermarket ones on Amazon.
You have a supplier for “cheap” Hypertherm consumables? I bought an upgraded torch that uses them not realizing how expensive their consumables were. Idk if I trust the Amazon $40 consumable set 😅
Hi, thanks, very interesting comparaison. I'm from France, and working in a university. We just buy a machine like that. did you try already to mark (=grave) with a noddle 45A? it's recommanded to use 10A or 20A, but we do not have it. wwe use 45 A fine CuT for cuting, but as you send, fast speed is better (we just start so, lets see). Thank you again for your video !
Are you using the same swirl ring on the fine tips as the regular? I believe Hypertherm requires a different swirl ring for fine tip consumables. The number is 220947. It might also help with cut quality. Great video for reference! Thanks!
The powermax 85 has automatic air adjustment, and according to them its optimized, in other words you cant improve on it by manually setting it but i could definitely put it in manual mode and tweak it
@@turbocobra 220857 hypertherm 45-85 amp swirl ring, 220947 hypertherm fine cut swirl ring used on the machine torches, you will seriously reduce dross with fine cut consumables. also try 220777 copper plus electrode lasts 3x as long as regular 220842electrodes
45amp low speed I use for the material it's not rated for like 3/16 steel I use fine cut low speed to cut my 3/16" steel and from what I know hypertherm doesn't have that listing in their books
Have you considered switching up to 18 or 20 ga for your signs? I would imagine the costs alone on just the sheets would outweigh any benefits gained from the thickness of 16 ga, for just general sign work.
I do make some things out of 20 gauge. small parts could definitely make it thinner, but anything over like 14" gets pretty flimsy on thinner than 16 gauge, and anything over 30" really needs 14 gauge
Ramsey Customs - turbocobra Burntables brand. Has THC. Everyone I have asked said the THC won’t work with the fine cut stuff. I am still learning as I go. Now I did see a different parts diagram the other day that showed fine cut nozzle but used reg shield?
