[ Experiment 7.10] Fine sand and coarse sand piles
Two piles of sand are formed: one with fine sand and the other with coarse sand. Weights are placed on each pile of sand to test their solidity. The pile of coarse sand paste collapses under a weight of 400g. The pile of fine sand collapses under a weight of 3200g. It is therefore 8 times more resistant. The finer the grains, the greater the capillary cohesion.
