As you know that I am an international student from India studying in the southern part of Gold Coast, Australia. This video is of a visit to Fingal Head Lighthouse located in the Northern, NSW and is quite near from the southern part of the Gold Coast.
Fingal Head is situated within Bundjalung Country, making it a place of significant cultural importance for the Bundjalung people. Fingal Head, known as Booningbah to the Bundjalung people, is a place where natural beauty and cultural heritage intertwine. This headland, with its striking hexagonal basalt columns, was formed by ancient volcanic activity and holds deep cultural significance for the Bundjalung people.
The unique geological formations here are not only a visual marvel but also a testament to the rich history of the land. For thousands of years, the Bundjalung people have called this area home, relying on its natural resources and honoring its sacred sites. The waters around Fingal Head are alive with marine life, from playful dolphins to majestic whales. These waters have provided sustenance and spiritual meaning to the Bundjalung people for generations. The lush coastal vegetation, too, has been a vital part of their way of life, offering food, medicine, and materials. Fingal Head is a testament to the enduring connection between the Bundjalung people and their land. It's a place where stories are etched in the rocks, the waves, and the very air. When you visit, you become a part of these stories, adding your own chapter to the rich tapestry of Bundjalung Country.
