A couple valleys to the west, you will find Letchworth State Park...or as a former western New Yorker we call it the “Grand Canyon of the East”. That’s a nice motorcycle day trip you should do sometime.
@@djjamminjimlawton6365 I believe that's the entrance we are heading to for planting our travel trailer. If I recall correctly, when I was 7 I started restoring my Dad's 1967 Triumph Tiger 500. My Dad took that bike from stock to hill climber to ice lake racer to chopper then left it disassembled in the basement. I helped return it back to running stock. Don't have it anymore but really miss that bike. That bike still had the world record speed holder factory sticker on it.
@@josephvanwanzeele5125 Amazing to me that your Tiger was so rugged. My Triumph was a 1970 T100C (off road knobby tires and all), but it kept eating the pawl on the kick starter. After I installed the zener diode eliminator it was more sturdy electrically, but push starting because of the pawl issue got old real fast. Good luck on your camping there in Letchworth!
Great 👍 footage of the area and the drone shots were really cool! Definitely looks like a fun place to visit I’ll bet the trees are colorful in the fall. Stay safe look forward to your next video!!
Chad and Tara you did a wonderful job showing off the beautiful area of the finger lakes region in upstate NY. Al and I were so happy to meet both of you. We hope our paths cross again post coronavirus! Stay safe and see you soon hopefully.
Thanks for showing New York is more than New York City. The Finger Lakes area is my home and I would not live anywhere else. We have it all. Love the videos.
I actually live in Newark, NY... A nice little community that use to have the worlds largest rose garden. The rose garden was relocated to the west cost and are, and were, the sponsors of the Parade of Roses. I have many fond memories of that time.
Spent a summer in the finger lakes working for a farmer; camping in a little wooded area of a pasture on the farm. Wake up to a herd of cows sleeping around us every morning. Girl friend had never cooked anything worked for a lady that did a bakery out of her house just up the road. I am glad there was no social media or that awesome summer would never of happened. Beautiful glacier lakes and great trails to get lost from everyone and just enjoy it. They used to have a nice racing area also. You are going to Maine that is another awesome state so much to see there. Stay safe and healthy.
THANK you for doing/showing all them steps!! I myself could NOT have done that!! With braces on both feet, & bad back that would of not gone well. So THANK YOU BOTH for those BEAUTIFUL/GORGEOUS Waterfalls!!!! I LOVE Waterfalls!!! LOVES/HUGS...
38 years ago I stood on top of those falls and peered over the edge. Amazing time, and it's crazy what you'll do when your young and indestructible. It's a great place.
LOL, 45 years ago i did the same! NY is known for having rules for everything, i'm surprised they didn't have that upper section fenced off to prevent access.
@@mikewilde64 Yes, we were young and stumbled across it from the upper road. I tell ya what, I still remember trying to get OUT of there. The first handhold was like at six feet high, once you got up to there you could grab onto the trees and climb out, but I couldn't do it now.
YES, TAUGHANNOCK FALLS IS PRETTY AWESOME. I LIVE IN THE FINGERLAKES, 70 YEARS NOW, BEAUTEOUS !!! A GREAT PLACE, AND THEN THERE'S ITHACA THAT HAS MANY FALLS, GORGES AND TRAILS. HAPPY TRAILS😊!!! I CAN'T GET OUT MUCH, NOW, SO, IT'S NICE TO TAKE A VIDEO TOUR !!! 👍
I just love watching you two. You can just feel and see the love and respect you guys have and its nice to see. You remind me of me and my hubby! Cheers to you both!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE the Finger Lakes (especially the wine) I grew up just to the east of the finger lakes and sure so miss it. Watkins Glen is the place to go for food!
I live in the Finger Lakes. I'm glad you came!! It was nice to see my" backyard" on your channel! I live close by to Keuka Lake. Lots to do in Hammondsport, New York.
We camped at Watkins Glen State Park Seneca Lake when I was a kid. Never saw any of the falls, so glad to see them with you. Will be on my bucket list when we full-time it! Love you guys💖
First-time viewer, FT RVer since early 2018. Your respect for science & state laws (as well as your great video) has earned my subscription! Thanks for inspiring me to include the Finger Lakes region in our (🤞) 2021 plans. Was in Seneca Falls in 1998 for the 150th anniversary of the world’s first Women’s Rights Convention, and then again in 2010 w/our then-tweens. Beautiful area!
I had to chuckle at the 58 degrees. We were stationed a little further north at Fort Drum where our oldest graduated HS. My mother asked what she should bring and I said a jacket..she thought I was kidding...I was not! She graduated the end of June and we all had long sleeves and jackets on.
Being born and raised in Rochester, the fingerlakes were always the summer playgrounds as well as the 1000 Island region! Alexandria Bay, Cape Vincent, Chaumont Bay! You guy's would LOVE it up there and I highly recommend taking the Uncle Sam boat tour on the St Lawrence River to Boldt Castle! Lot's of RV parks and camping around the area with excellent River views
Great choice. That is where i lived from birth to 13 at the southern tip of that lake (Ithaca) beautiful country and just imagine it in the fall. Man that hike to the falls takes me back. One thing for sure in NY state parks around there you will definitely get your exercise. Fun fact... the finger lakes were formed by a Glacier.
Fingerlakes and the wineries are some of our favorite vacation places. Great wineries for next visit or others to see are Lakewood and Barnstormer - several within minutes of Watkins Glen - hard to walk away with just one bottle
FYI My wife and I did go to Cape Cod this July. The 18th thru Aug 2. We camped and went to Martha’s Vineyard. Masks were worn and social distancing was required. Sorry to hear you guys cancelled your trip. We had a great time there. Now we see that you were right in our back yard. We live in Rochester. And yes the lakes are great. Safe travels. We watch all of your videos and have taken a lot of knowledge and put it to use.
Really appreciate what you’re able to do, we live in Alaska, full time with our Montana and cannot get back through Canada to RV the south during winter...very frustrating.
I haven't been to the Finger Lakes in 35 years but always have had wonderful memories, so thank you for quick flashback of good times. Your a wonderful couple that compliment each other nicely. Take care, Robert
We were just around the corner at watkins glen state park the same time,. From A Army veteran to you Thank you for serving and we like to watch your channel.
Changing Lanes we love our state and it’s so beautiful our camping is awesome but the state is not run well. We are heading to mackinaw this week and can’t wait to visit the same places you guys did. Keep safe out there.
As a former resident, I suggest checking out all the lakes. Canandaigua main street has some small, family owned shops and eateries (if covid hasn't shut them down). There are a few more wineries around there too. Beautiful place. And as others have mentioned, Letchworth is awesome. I went white water rafting there back in high school. A picnic table may or may not still be in a tree.
We just took a trip up through Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Georgia, and back home to Florida. Indiana has some of the nicest farmland near Middlebury. The Finger Lakes Region is nice and is on our list. Our youtube channel is coming soon. Thanks Chad & Tara for the videos.
My father’s uncles had adjoining lots (and one in the middle they co-owned) on Seneca Lake. We had our family reunions every year on the lake. Crystal clear lake water back then. You could watch fish swim in 30’ of water...
Excellent area to recreate in! I live about 1 hour south in Pa from there. 58 degrees is not cold! Come back later fall or early winter and you will find it chilly then!
If you ever return to the finger lakes, try a scenic drive through the Bristol Hills. You can start in Canandaigua to Naples, then take county road 36 from Naples to Honeoye. You will be blown away by the beautiful Bristol Hills. Recommend summer or fall.
This video just popped up in my feed. My wife and I stayed a week as Sned Acres in late June 2019. We were back in the woods near the ravine in the older section and also ate at that restaurant.
It's great to see where you are visiting. While you are up there hopefully you don't miss Letchworth State Park with it's gorges, waterfalls, wildlife and upstate NY beauty. If it's missed, it'll make a great spot on another future trip. It's beautiful up there!
We're following your trip and are having a great time. Thanks for all the effort in making video. Sadly We're here just before Memorial day and a few things are closed like the gorge trail in Watkins Glen. But found plenty of other water falls in the area. Today we're doing Waterloo area. Lots of history in this area. Unbelievable old homes and buildings! We completed 7 days here and could have spent more! There is soooo much to see and do. The are is very central to Bath, Corning and other places we ventured into. We got home after two 400 hundred mile legs. Whew, that's a long drive. But very much worth it.
I lived in Geneva until about a month ago. Its usually a ghost town but restaurant are usually open. I love The Rusty Pig. Bummer you were not able to eat at that awesome restaurant!!
A few years ago, I took the shuttle, from the Visitors Center to the TOP and walked the full length DOWN. Also took my dune buggy to the racetrack and was able to run a few laps. Beautiful area.
I love the Finger Lakes. Lots of history. I’m a Canadian and have been there lot of times. The bottom of Seneca Lake is host to racing. Lots of history. Watkins Glen. Awesome place. I love Pennsylvania. Go to the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania. And stay near Wellsboro....the main St is lighted with gas. I have ridden all over the northern States. Doubt I’ll be doing it again soon.
Awesome video! There is so much to see in the Finger Lakes...You need a month at least! I live across the street from Rasta Ranch. Lot's of fun times there. Scale House Brewery/Restaurant right next door is a great place to go.
Awesome video. Love Sned Acres Been there several times in the fall Right in our backyard. Too bad the Rusty Pig was closed when you came to Geneva. Fantastic food. So glad you all had a great time. We love our Finger Lakes.
Hi folks, you’ll definitely have to do Nova Scotia and Cape Breton. The South shore and the Cabot Trail are just awesome. Tara will just love the seafood everywhere. Great bike riding everywhere, Saint Williams in New Brunswick is also a great stop , Wayne from Windsor Ontario Canada
Hi guys , we camp at Samson state park love it . Now we stay at Smith state park are favorite winery is Hazlet, they have yummy slushy red cat is my favorite. We been going there for years.
Great to see you in our backyard, we love trying all the state parks in the region. Your finger lakes installment really captured the area (except for Geneva, not a place I would have suggested for you) next time though hit up Ithaca and Letchworth State Park. Looks like many fans in the area you could do a meet and greet. Happy Travels
Hi Guys, Looks like had a great time at Cayuga lake, I live just 45 Minutes south of Ithaca in the Binghamton NY area. we spend a ton of time in that area through the summer. I can give a ton a great places to go visit in NY when you are back in NY again. my wife and I are Teardrop Campers for the last 2 years and 30+ years as tent campers. One place you must visit when you return to NY is the 1000 Island are (St. Lawrence River), Our favorite place on earth. With the river, history, outdoor activities, boating, fishing and Wineries you can spend so much time there and have a wonderful time. Keep up the great Videos.
My wife and I were on that gorge trail literally 2 weeks after you were there. Lol And the walkin's Glen state park campgrounds was open because we stayed there.
Best part of NY state right there! Be sure to check out Ithaca next time you pass through. Ithaca Beer Co. has a great tap room and little restaurant. And the falls in Ithaca - magnificent!
It was so exciting to see you in the fingerlakes, that is our area, the kids went right where you hiked, I had pics but your views were more comprehensive
Great video! Grew up in Seneca Falls and return to visit parents and in-laws every couple of years. You hit T-Falls and Watkins Glen which are the 2 places we visit every time we go back. RT-89 is great motorcycle road along the lake but there are a ton of country roads all throughout the Finger Lakes that are great too. You passed my father-in-law's house on Bayard St in Seneca Falls and passed the church we were married in. We didn't make it up there this summer but will be back up there in 2021. Too bad Covid-19 forced most Wineries to be closed during your time up there. Rasta is a winery/head shop but is fun to experience. We ate at O'Malley's and the Thirsty Owl last year. Small world.
This was a great video, you two work so well together and funny, especially the part where you said can i agree and disagree the answer was NO without thinking, very funny, thanks again.
Watkins Glen is one of our favorite campgrounds and destinations, been there numerous times on bicycle outings and it has a lot to offer, the state park is great
I love the Finger Lakes area. My father grew up near Syracuse and we still have family in the area - including Geneva!. Love the tour you gave us. Brought back a lot of memories of visiting Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and cousins as a kid.
Thanks for the cool hike on the Gorge Trail. Looks like a new bucket list item! Really appreciate the additional information you add in the dialogue boxes! Great video. Stay safe.
We loved Chenango Valley State Park! Especially since it's only an hour away from where we live. I thought Taughannock Falls and Cayuga Lake were beautiful, and so relaxing, even though we were in a campground where we were pretty close to our neighbors. Next time we're staying in the campground next to the lake. Tock-AN-ick is how you pronounce the name of the falls.
Three Brothers Winery is a great place too, and Buttonwood Grove Winery. My favorite wine there is their Blackberry Briar. Fingerlakes area is beautiful! I live in North Bay, near Oneida Lake. We usually get a bunch of friends together and do a wine tour every fall. Someone also mentioned you should go to Letchworth, that is a definite next time you are up here!
Love it up there. I used to haul Ferrari’s in for the Ferrari Challenge at Watkins Glen International. I would hang out for three days exploring the area on my boss’s Road King (perk!). Watching this brought back some great memories.
Pretty cool adventure given the times we're in at the moment. Those parks are only hours from my home and you've inspired me to take my kids to adventure ourselves! Thanks
Loved the vid! Love the Finger Lakes area. We did a bike trip there 3 years ago. My Aunt and Uncle lived in Skinnyatlas (Butchered Spelling). Hey! Come to Michigan.... So many cool places to explore, we could give u the Grand Tour being Michiganders. Like seriously! Cheers!!!
Tara, you’re not boring you just...*yawn* oh sorry bout that. 😜 Another awesome video with great footage and editing. Absolutely beautiful area you were in. Chad, I noticed a little more footage of you walking behind your lovely bride this time (nice job big guy 👍😝). Lol. Who could blame ya. And those falls certainly added to the beauty of the shots. I’ve never seen anything like it. Really enjoyed the ride on Lucille again. Been missing those. Thanks for showing us around. Well done. Troy
I was fortunate enough to use the campground two years ago. I and my daughters and grand kids did a week there as well as a road trip to Niagara Falls. Absolute wonderful time.
If you folks ever get back to the finger lake area you can rent a hot air balloon ride through some of the major gorge areas. Especially nice in the fall to see the colours. My advice is to book in well in advance, of course second nature for the two of you!
