In this Collins Country video James builds the movie theater base platform/riser for the recliner seating in our future movie theater! We love how this DIY turned out! It was simple to build, inexpensive and James explains/shows how to build it with the tutorial in the video Thanks for watching another video about our Farmhouse build:)

Excellent Video Question... What kind of INSULATION are you going to put INSIDE your riser? No insulation... there will be an echo... and squeaks ... Thank you for sharing this video... Where is the rest of the video? The Finished stage?
@CollinsCountry
@CollinsCountry Год назад
Hi thanks for watching our video. We used fiberglass insulation inside. We Stuffed it relatively tight. We also have carpet wrapped around it as well. We have a series of videos finishing our basement and the theatre is done. Please subscribe and check it out!! Thank you again. Have a great day!!

I gotta admire James's work ethic there cuz he looked a liitle frustrated at the beginning but he got it done. I cant wait to see the finishing touch!

+Nathan S Oakley Yes. His work ethic is insane. In my 30 years of living, I have never ever met someone to work harder than James. Of course I’m biased as his wife, but it really is the absolute truth. He does get a little frustrated at times because he wears many hats as a Godly man in this world, but he does it all with such grace and always gets everything done. I am very blessed with him!

Impressive. I wont do it in my basement though - I lazy! Debating whether or not to run CAT 6 in my basement. Some people say yes and others say wireless with signal booster. Why did you go with CAT

What model is your guys’ sawmill and how well do you like it? Have plenty of power for what you need? Thanks!

Hi, we have a woodland mills HM126 with the 14 HP Motor. It has good power. We cut mostly red cedar but handles white oak and red oak no problem. Sharp blades are the key. Thanks for watching

Powered recliners are the best !! Our local movie theater has all recliners and it is so comfy!! Awesome!!

Agreed! We had never sat in the powered recliners until we went to the movies recently (for the first time in over 5 years!!!) It was amazing and soooo comfortable! That is why we decided to put them in our home:)

Found your videos thru browsing basement insulation and framing and thoroughly enjoy this series!! 🎉 James is the man! And thanks for showing everything and giving lots of good info on how to finish a basement!! I especially liked all of the cool ideas and installation pertaining to the home theater room stuff!! 🎉 Maybe James can build some custom 24” speaker boxes etc ;)
@CollinsCountry

+@MattyDaddy14 Thanks! Thats our goal. To encourage others to diy stuff isn’t as hard as people make it out to be:) James is very smart with this stuff and doing it in a very tight budget! :) The 24 speaker boxes is a great idea. Our plan is for him to retire in 2 years so maybe that will be something he does:)

I like how you built this riser. Most of the videos I've seen use 2x6 or 2x8 sitting on the 2'' end. Has always seemed a little more precarious that way.

+Tac Tacelosky Hey there and thank you!!! In real time it is finished and it turned out perfect!!!!!! It was an easy build. Less than 2 hours:) Let me look through my photos and see if I have a finished picture… I know I have video footage for a video but I can’t remember if I have any pictures…

For some reason it won't allow us to post a picture in the comments, but in a few weeks we will be caught up with the basement videos and we will do a tour of the basement. It will show the riser with the carpet and furniture/everything in place;)

Yes. We used tapcon screws to hold the treated lumber to the concrete.

Cool job. What are your thoughts on putting insulation under the floor? I'm about to build a 120" x 64" riser (12" high) and have seen people put it under the floor to supposedly help with the sub woofer. I have a bunch of old R11 pink stuff in my garage I need to use up anyhow. I wish you would have filmed yourself putting the insulation in. Did you just use hangers?
@CollinsCountry
@CollinsCountry 2 года назад
Hey. Thanks for watching our video. I do recommend putting insulation in the riser to help with the echo sounds from the sub woofer. I packed in the insulation somewhat tight to keep sound waves out as much as possible. I’m happy with how it turned out.

+Umair Ali Hey there. Thanks! We didn’t actually make a supply list. I’m so sorry but we built this a year ago and can’t remember how much of everything we purchased but we will try to include supplies for our future basement videos. If I went back and watched our video again I may be able to guess pretty closely though what materials were used and how many…

You probably should have used treated lumber where the wood is in direct contact with the cement.
@CollinsCountry
@CollinsCountry 2 года назад
Thanks for watching our video on this!! The lumber against the concrete floor is in fact treated 2x4s.
