Finishing my Comfy 1890's Teagown -- Welted Pockets Aren't That Hard After All! 

I burst into laughter when you show me that original tea gown has a fake pocket on the side. It’s just like me saying “ Meh, I don’t wanna do another welt pocket, nobody’s gonna know it.” (150 years later...)

Aww, of course we watch for Dora! I watch Abby for her dogs, Noelle for her cats, Bernadette for Cesario... It's all about pets. I mean, the creators and historical clothing are great, but the pets are awesome 😊

So pretty, very flattering, the silhouette is just perfection. The color is so you! I especially like how the yoke makes it look like the blouse is layered under the dress.

Interesting detective fact - the girl who originally owned your extant gown was left handed, hence only the left pocket being usable.

Real fake pocket!!! And here I thought fake pockets were a modern fashion invention, I suppose they have history too. XD The way the fabric looks thick but is actually thin makes it look so soft and cozy, really gives of pajama vibes (which suits a teagown, honestly). It's so pretty on you and looks wonderful!

That is so beautiful! Lord, I don't know what part I like best, the sleeves are magnificent, I love that pleating, and the volume leading to those slimmer forearms. So Pretty! That wool is absolutely gorgeous also. Well done madam, you did a beautiful job. Im so glad you chose to do the welted pockets, patch pockets, while easier, might've interrupted the clean lines of the gown. Love it, love it!

What a beautiful creation! I just love the pleats in the back and all the buttons. I know it was a TREMENDOUS amount of work but so very worth it. It's just so lovely to look at. I can't imagine how you must feel wearing it! Excellent, excellent job!

My daughter’s cat sucks her earlobe for hours. Been doing it since she was a tiny kitten...(the cat, not my daughter...) The dress is fabulous!

Beside the fact that is came out absolutely gorgeous, you are such a lovely person, too! One comment on your welt pockets if I may. You may think that the welts (fabric strips) should have been different widths but in reality, they are supposed to be the same so the seams do NOT lay on top of each other when connecting the bag to it so there is less bulk. Excellent job!

One of the things I can't believe about you is your skills, the amount of work you put into your dresses and your RU-vid input. You have a full time job and still manage to do two videos a week; Tuesdays being the longest one. Some CosTubers have given up their jobs to do RU-vid full time and still only manage a 20 minute video once a week - if we are lucky. I'm loving Dora too!! She's a'Dora'ble. 😊 I'm a cat person and am looking forward to the day when I can have a cat - the cat on my profile pic should be mine, but for some reason she never bonded with me and prefers my son who she now lives with. (I've never had a cat not bond with me before 😢 .) Ironically, the Yorkshire Terrier we bought for him bonded with me instead and so lives with me - so that's something, I guess.

I loooove what that yoke does for this gown! Beautiful work. And I love how candid you are with us about your thought process, struggles and decision making. You always keep it real.

Ever since you started this project I've wondered why this dress was put together so hastily and so poorly. Was it a daughter and mother fighting over what she would wear? Did the daughter hat the color brown and because of the depression that was the only color they could afford so she begrudgingly sewed the dress knowing no man would ever see how beautiful she is/was in the dirt colored brown dress. Yours turned out gorgeous! You are stunning and I am anxiously waiting for your next project. Thank you for your work!

It may not be that warm, but it looks wonderfully cozy and comfy for indoor wear. That velvet ribbon looks so nice with it as well, a lovely soft contrast that just adds to that cozy vibe.

I had a thought on how to apply the velvet ribbon on by machine. if you had a double needle the width of just the velvet of the ribbon and so that the needles would catch the selvages of the ribbon. you probably could have gotten it all stitched down in half the time. There were a couple of things you didn't get quite correct with the pockets. But as long as you're happy with the way they turned out, that's all that matters. I looks great and inspires me to make one of my own.
