The guy that runs his cows on my property has 2 Bobcat mini Excavators maybe a size smaller than his Cat but as far as back filling the dirt along the lines I’m surprised he didn’t use the skid steer to push the dirt back over the lines I’m waiting on my partner to bring one of his back so I can learn how to operate it. I use his Bobcat skid steer to move dirt & gravel around and I’m getting ok with it. But I’m wanting to dig a pond in my north pasture where it’s already low

Kubota, Bobcat, Yanmar. Buckets I would get a 18" and a 30" bucket the 30" would be a smooth bucket(no teeth) and a Thumb hydraulic. My company we had 2 Kubota's and they were used just about everyday building playgrounds and parks.

Best series yet. I installed my own septic system with a backhoe. 1,000 gal tank and 450 feet of leach field. Wish I had an excavator.

Hi I would highly recommend watching Outdoors with the Morgans .Mike Morgan has Kubota Mini Tractor and now new purchased skid steer with tracks .Might give you some ideas as to what can be done using those machines .

Looking good and now you can use the RV as a second sleep-over place for the kiddo’s. Regarding the purchase of an excavator; Andrew Cremata did a video about how the hydraulic thumb is SO MUCH BETTER than the fixed thumb that you won’t even consider the fixed one for your unit. Additionally, his comments on a Bob Cat skid-steer might change your mind on even considering one of them just based on the extra maintenance issues they cause. The Kubota and John Deere would be much better options considering their availability and locality. Also, you may want to get the closed cab too so it’s more useful in different types of weather and the cab helps to keep you seat and interior mechanicals out of the weather and some sun.

I’d recommend a 3.5-4 ton sized machine because you can get a ton of work done with that size and not need more that a 14k-16k trailer and as far as brands go with whatever has the best dealer near you that you want to work with. You can find pros and cons on every machine

A good used Small Kubota can make you all kinds of money on the side, plus having on the farm is the greatest tool to have. I had one, sold it, now I am kicking myself because of it. I wish you the best in getting one. Oh, if momma gives to the green light Kubota has the best warranty.

I would highly recomend a pre emissions model. Higher hours is ok as long as it was maintained properly. Check the auctions out, can sometimes end up with a great deal.

You don’t have to justify anything. if you have the money and the expense is not going to affect your family, buy yourself an excavator. We’re all gonna die one day and we cannot take the money with us.

The very best maintained pre emission unit you can afford with a good dealer nearest to you. My biggest concern is the cost of privately owning heavy equipment, where the possible lack of heavy/large equipment maintenance experience and decently equipped shop for repairs burns through your funds. Possibly consider a leased unit with a full maintenance package, more expensive but less worries. Same concern is for newbies that want to farm with little to no welding, repair or fabricating experience.

Livin my dream! Lol property, 5th wheel, tractor, zero turns, potential mini ex … one day! … If I were you I’d buy an older mini or smaller one that is pre or no emissions. That’s where your biggest issues will be! Just my two cents

I don't know how I missed this video. Thanks RU-vid. I'm excited for you to get a mini excavator!!! The dump trailer compliments an excavator so well. I need a dump trailer. I wish I could have bought one when they were less that 15K. I'm hoping the prices come down so I can finally get one. I want to echo Nick about the grease. Grease the hell out of it at the end of the day. It significantly prolongs the life of your pins and bushings. Grease is cheap, pins and bushings are not. I bought a used 2009 Bobcat 335. It was wore out and neglected when I got it. I was new to it and didn't know what to look for. One bushing on the upper structure was 85 bucks, it needed 6. It took half a day just to get to them.
