AndersonCattleCo. Again sorry for the late response. I agree, I do prefer the taste of grain finished, to me it just tastes better. There’s quite the debate on this subject but ultimately it comes down to what you prefer. Sounds like they’re going to be tasty!
Joe we wean at 7 months and grow them on high roughage low concentrate 3 months and then we start increasing the grain and at 14-15 months they are hanging on a hook ready to cut into steaks.
I personally don’t start them until there 90-120 days out from butcher. Up until then there out on pasture and a good quality hay in the winter. There typically ready for butcher at 18+ months of age or so. This could very depending on breed of cattle and quality of feed. This is all personal preferences and what is preferred by the consumer.
