The Super Sabre is so underrated! In my opinion the body is one of the best! So simple but so sleek! You are right Keith...seeing one in person would change some minds! Great build and another great video! 😀
Great tips on the decals.. I too always use scissors to cut them out. Always have, since I was a kid and built models. With my big fingers it’s just easier for me.. this thing looks great Keith
There is another technique to applying decals using some warm soapy water believe it or not. I plan on giving it a try because putting decals on dry is really tricky. They are so sticky. So the soapy water method is get a bowl or a plastic tub like a lunch box and put about 1inch of warm or Luke warm water and a very small amount of dishwashing liquid for a very mild dilution. At first I didn't believe it but you can apply a little bit of water onto the body shell then apply your decals and this allows you to move the decals around before finding the exact right position then you use a paper towel to squeeze out the water from behind the decals by pressing down whilst also supporting the body shell from the inside. And there are videos on RU-vid, check it out. Looks a lot easier than trying to apply the decals when dry because they are just so so sticky and very easy to misplace. Enjoy all👍👌 PS , the Super Sabre is being re released now in 2023 and here in Australia will be released before Christmas 👍
Oh hell yes this 'tickles my fancy'! Much love for the Super Sabre, one of my favorite old school rc's. Silver wheels look great Keith...and yes, please re-re this one Tamiya! 👍👍
Lovely looking buggy, the silver wheels look way better, I must admit as a kid I wasn't that impressed with its looks, but I've certainly changed my mind now,it's a stunner 👌👊
I enjoyed these vids on this car!! As a kid it was one that I couldn't get my hands on, as I don't recall my local hobby shops ever having one, or maybe they did. My best memories of this car are from obsessing over it in the Tamiya guide books. Anyway, a great childhood memory! You done a great job on it, looks great!! Cheers and thankyou!!
It looks awesome and I think you did the right thing with the wheels! I personally like the Super Sabre over the Big Wig, it is more aggressive looking and I love the colors! The GW is more comical looking and I like it but not as much as the SS!! They do stand tall but it seems to fit the car design and it does not look out of place. I am looking forward to the run video but seeing it getting finished up and all nice and shiny was a treat!!!
Wheels look good, Keith. Better then i expected. The Super Sabre isn't my favorite car, but i like every car that triggers my nostalgia. And this is one of them. 👍
Hi Keith, great build. I've always overlooked the Super Sabre but after watching this video it's definitely one I'll be looking out for. Just a little cutting tip I've found for shakey hands and knives, try a cutting mat, it really makes a huge difference in keeping lines clean and straight.
Looking good Keith :) I always preferred the super sabre to the boomerang myself , you’ve made a cracking job of that one and I look forward to see it blasting about in part 3. Take care
The super sabre never did it 4me when I was a kid but looking at it over the last couple of years it has definitely grown on me 👍 Hopefully we'll see that rere 🤔 Thanks for another great video Keith 👌
I remember when this came out back in the day, the next generation Hotshot, the Thundershot was already out. So the Super Sabre was kinda old already when it came out. And most people like me already had a Boomerang or a Hotshot, so the Super Sabre didn't really bring anything new, so that's probably why it's just so underrated. Today I wish they would bring it back, just because I never had one and because It's the missing member in my Hotshot collection.
Great to watch as always Keith! It’s funny that you just mentioned we’ll probably see a super Sabre/ hotshot 2 released in the future and the HS II was rereleased this week lol. Good call
@@rcicons4915 ya I agree, the hotshot II is my favorite out of the line, it’s the boxart that I love, and the bigger wing…but that black w retro stripes is what I really love the most.
Another great build I just ordered rere of the hotshot they still had it in stock I heard it got discontinued makes sense since the hot shot 2 is coming out
To me the Super Sabre looks like the Hotshot and Terra Scorcher got drunk one night and this is what we got 🙂 l am a big fan of this kit and it just works for me..
I didn’t like the Super Saber when I was a kid because I was still yearning for a Hot Shot, but it’s a pretty cool take on a futuristic car of the late 80s. The silver wheels are great!
I was the same way. As an adult looking back it is cool. Back then our real cars were all very boxy so for a shape like this it was just so radically different.
@@rcicons4915 I was watching a restoration video of the Grand National just earlier. Funny how so many designs from the late 80s were simply ahead of their time. Great job Keith!
I love the Super Sabre, I'm hoping they do a rere. The new Block Head Hot Shot II wheels might be an option to save the originals when they become available.
I actually really want one! Rere this tamiya and I'm reaching for my wallet! The HS2 has just been released again but in blockhead version that is totally cool but I hope tamiya still releases the original versions too! Great stuff Keith and nice job it looks stunning!
You add spacer onto the shock shaft before putting the shaft through the shock body. It is very simple. Watch Tamiya Legends Egress build video 1 and 2. Somewhere in those vids Glenn shows you exactly how to do it.
Hi Keith!! A little bit late on this one but yeah I love it! I did a boomerang and ordered a super sabre body from TBG and it looks amazing. Fits perfectly! Also what are your thoughts on the bear hawk? Noticed you never mentioned it or even gone after one? I think it’s one of those love/hate things. Personally I love the bear hawk. Thanks buddy
Probably the only Tamiya that looks more like a Kyosho/Marui hybrid than it does a Tamiya. Prefer the Boomerang and Thundershot myself, but appreciate the Super Sabre too. Silver wheels do look a lot better
The hotshot, supershot, HS2, bigwig, boomerang and super Sabre all have the same gearboxes and arm set ups. Center chassis changed along with steering setups.
Not a diabetic. Just beat up from 25 years of construction. Although I own my own business, I am the hardest working guy on the crew. Always have been. Always will be. I lead by example. My work ethic is what got me where I am today. I am blessed to be healthy but like a well used car, it will eventually breakdown. I appreciate your videos. I know it is not easy for you to make content. Keep doing it. It is inspiring.
Never took much notice of it when it was released but I must say its definitely a looker👍 I think its a no brainer tamiya will eventually re-release it🤷♂️
