In this episode I finish the Sky Offroad YJ swap on my Suzuki Samurai and go over how to set your pinion angle when you are installing new leaf spring perches.
Good tutorial! always nice to see a start to finish on suspension, I know it's a pain in the ass! I'm doing the same swap on my Sami as well, front's done, rear almost done (today) I used Dr. Z Fab. ultimate YJ kit, Trail gear high steer, Sami axles, VW turbo diesel, Yota frt drive shaft in the rear. Keep up the great video's!
That jack adapter is interesting me/ many can relate Once owed a black 86 samurai hard top - that little rig would whip around and was really reliable on the tightest fire roads and small creek beds. The aftermarket was in its infancy For some reason I always remember that manufact. high side custom rubber mud floor mats that could hold seemingly several gallons worth of melting snow Bonus / 4 people in the 86 traveling between Md and NYC on I-95 🆘
Thanks man! I love your channel and your rig. I have a bunch coming up soon on this little zuk. Toyota steering box, tc pump, pac hydro assist, custom shock mounts, transfer case mounts with skid plate, custom bumper. All to take it to Moab in April and hammer on it. Would love to meet up and wheel one day. Thanks for watching!
@@LowerWeldingShop cool, that sounds like good content. Maybe I can steal some of your ideas! I just did Moab a few months ago, but maybe you can make a trip out to the Rubicon. Zukicon is every summer 🤘🏻
I think it's cool you're building a little Zuk, they're a great off roader when they're built. I had one years ago in the military, I just never had the opportunity to build it, so I'm digging this 🤘😎 And Great heads up on the way you set up the degrees for the axle, GREAT content 😆👍
If you don't want drive line vibration, you NEED to have your tcase and axle flanges TOTALLY PARALLEL to eachother. You can't just aim the differential flange at the Tcase and call it good. Of course your drive shaft knuckles need to be clocked the same also. Been there done that. So frustrating until you study drive shaft geometry. Then it makes total sense.
You should stretch the rear or get a land cruiser rear axle with the offset third member because the samurai transfer case is offset. There will be a lot of vibration with normal axle
The Yj spring for a Samurai still not going to help if you are using the same driveline. I would mount spring on samurai original mount and fabricate the driveline this will extend wheelbase for flex and articulation. Why not do what I did using Isuzu Rodeo rear spring for both front and rear of the Samurai it’s longer and softer ride than the YJ
Nobody said anything about stock drivelines, I ordered custom length shaft from Tom woods. That will be in a future video along with custom crossmember fabricated to clearance the front driveshafts. Thanks for watching.
