Loved this culture shock, was not at all aware of this feature in Finland. Thanks for sharing this wonderful video. Take Care and God Bless you and your wonderful family. Was this video recent or an old one?
its interesting how finnish people feel comfortable around people inside a sauna but not comfortable enough to stand close at bus stands. 🤔 anyway ❤️ from kerala
for Finns, a sauna is like a church there discusses all the things that cause worry and stress in relaxing sauna heat and humidity but people respect everyone's personal space at the bus stop, of course, depending on the location, people can be quite close at the bus stop as well
I visited Finland a while ago, when i was doing some work for Elisa Telco. Being a Mallu, though i appreciate the amazing development of the country, it felt very depressing because people don't talk or smile. I felt everyone to be very lonely. Especially if you are from Kerala where there is no concept of private space 😀. I understood it was just a cultural difference. I ate some grilled Salmon with some light herbs from the Street. If you ever know the name of it, please let me know. It was delicious.
Yeah it's a big thing in Finland, most of us have no clue even what our neighbors names are and we barely even say hi to them 😅 here in India I know and greet everyone in our surroundings 😋
Enjoyed the video!🤩🤩😊👍 thanks for showing us about the finnish culture! 🤩😊👍👍 I have few doubts, is the blood pancakes basically of cranberries? And are there any specific place where I can order and explore Finnish foods in India?🤩🤩🤤🤤
the blood pancakes are made with wheat and pigs blood :P they are usually served with cranberries! Don't really know if one can order Finnish foods anywhere here...
Great to revisit our experience of Finland through your video. Glad that I did get chance to visit Finland before lockdown in 2020. Most of my Indian friends do not like but I loved Salmiakki 😀
As you said Finnish personal space and the serious lady, I now understand why Aki Kaurismaki portrays that kind of atmosphere in some of his movies. Such a wonderful screen writer and director. I am a Mallu who watched almost all of his movies . Nice to know you
Moi moi. So my mum worked as a exchange student coordinator in Nepal for DIAK University for like 10 years. I grew up with Finnish people in the house and I can totally relate to this video tho I haven’t visited Finland. We have about 15 Moomin cups in the house (I grew up watching Moomin which was translated to Nepali), Moomin trays, Cute Moomin tees, Marimekko tissues and trays, the amaazzinggg Fazer chocolates and eating Salmiakki which I loveee. I even learned tuiki tuiki tahtonen and Paa Olkapaa. 💕Much love!
Oh my goodness, this just made my morning! How cool that you have so many moomin things at home 🤩 haha, I miss salmiakki and Fazer chocolate here every minute 😅🌴✨✨
Nice video! I remember being completely repulsed by blood pancakes and blood sausages even as a child, ended up going vegetarian and eventually becoming vegan and I had completely forgotten about these "delicacies" 🤢 I much prefer spinach pancakes, those are pretty unique to Finland too!
I'm from the USA. I live in Pennsylvania right now but I'm originally from Ohio. We do the sauna here as well and jump in the snow too! Plus the jacuzzi is a popular thing to do and jump into the snow.! The snow is finally about to melt I'm excited I'm over the snow and cold. Tomorrow it's finally going to be 52° I'm sooooooo ready for spring.! Nothing in Finland seemed weird to me! 💜
So amazing that you guys have snow there, you are keen to get rid of it and I miss it so much!! :D haven't seen or felt snow in 6 years now! I think next time we go to Finland it has to be winter time..though I don't miss the cold! Here we have 32 celcius daily
@@anniinavivian Wow yes I've been here going on 39yrs I'm over it lol. And actually the only real reason is cuz we live in the mountains on a hill and it's very difficult to get up and down the hills in my car. But we finally got my truck fixed and back so it's not as bad. It's literally like an ice skating rink outside of my camper.. lol. Snow and rain and freezing temperatures don't mix very well. Disaster sometimes.
@@anniinavivian yeah! I used to watch it after school on TV! Those were the best days! 😍 Also, my first phone was Nokia (the pic you showed)....😅 Lots of love x
@@anniinavivian "Very old" takes it to the Vikings! Hey, from now on I will remember you as a Shield-maiden whom I lived to see! :D P.S. In the Vikings TV show Lagertha was my favorite character. You must watch it!
@@levwii I love Lagertha too!! And the Vikings! And I've actually met one of the actors who is Finnish btw, don't remember his name in the show but his real name is Peter Franzen :)
@@anniinavivian That's what I was talking about: Bring it out bro, bring out - The Viking in you! :D You may share anything about Finland in the future and compare it with India; people would appreciate them. You don't have to hold back. P.S. WOW! You met that guy? His name is King Harald ! P.S.S. I wonder; do you feel better living in a warmer place like Kerala or a colder place?
in the good old days when it was time to slaughter an animal so everything that was possible from the animal was utilized, the blood had to be utilized moderately warm otherwise it clotted so it was used to make sausages and pancakes
I didn't get the personal space concept of Finland properly. Here in India, it is an outright introvert behaviour. Is it because Finnish tend to be introverts or really respecting personal space. Or it just a generalized statement?
Interesting video (said by a Finn, so it tells a lot!) :D The Finnish culture can seem crazy but it's just a matter of trying to understand it more ;) The most seeriously hilarious and informative book I can suggest for those interested in the Finnish culture (and even for Finns as well, like me) is called "Spaghetti and Sauna" - I couldn't reccommend it more :D
Terve! Cool, this is the first time I'm hearing about this book, I will surely check it out! Have you read the: How To Marry A Finnish Girl book? I have heard its funny and informative about the Finnish culture :)
@Anniina Vivian Moro! :) I did red the one you mentioned, though it's not as accurate and as hilarious - so far the best I found is Spaghetti&Sauna. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did - it made me see and appreciate our culture from a different perpective (and it was great to get a good laugh as well). It's just a pity that it's only as an ebook :( Keep up the amazing videos! I'd LOVE to watch some videos with some suggestions on how to become a youtuber/live a creative life/go for your dreams in business.
