Bollocks, 1920 was when Estonia passed the law on the anthem, something than Finland has NEVER DONE. But factually Estonia has had this anthem since the independece in 1918. If you want to compare dates then choose something more comparable. By the way, the first perfomance in Estonian was as early as in 1869. The first perfomance in Finnish was just 2 years earlier.
When Pacius created the melody, there was no Finland. Finland was just a region in Russia. Estonia was the same - an area in Russia. So any songs created before the independence were not anthems, but just nationalist songs. Pacius (who was German, not Finnish) died many decades before the independence of Finland and Estonia (both countries declared their independence from Russia at the same time). Some 50 years before becoming independent this melody got its lyrics in Finnish and in Estonian. Again, it happened roughly at the same time. So this tune became a popular nationalist song (but not anthem, because there was no Republic of Finland, no Republic of Estonia yet) - same melody, different lyrics - on both side of the Finnish gulf. So imagine, half a century both nations were singing and playing this nice song. But it was not an anthem yet, because the states of Finland and Estonia had not been created. When Finland and Estonia declared (at the same time) their independence from Russia, both new countries needed an anthem. So both of them looked at this popular nationalist song and thought: hey, that would make a nice anthem. To take this decision one step further, in 1920 Estonia passed a law proclaiming this melody as the official Estonian anthem. Finland, on the other hand, has never passed a law on the anthem. Therefore, legally speaking this melody is way more Estonian than Finnish.
as half finn and half estoni i love dem both as equal as ill stay that estonia is annoying lil sister yo finland tho and as in the song they say that highest echo it gets so basically estonia is the echo
Finnish anthem was created in 1814 really while estonian one just in 1920 but the same finland author made these songs just before estonia got independent.
"Finnish anthem was created in 1814" You are lying so much. The composer of the melody was BORN in 1809. The year 1814 has nothing to do with the song. You are a liar!
Nothing against you, but where from do you have that turans? Fins are Uralic (Finno-ugric) language group which is related to Estonian and Saami. Some claim it to be similar to Hungarian, which I speak almost fluently, but I can't see it though.
Some words only, like käsi-kéz, väsi-víz, voi-vaj, but others like järvi-tó, kuu-hold... and the Hungarian is not similar to Turkish at all, it's a myth. Because turks occupied these territories, where also my country, Slovakia, is. And we have some words from you like čaj or alma. But only huns, who had nothing to do with today's Hungarians (they are Magyarok - mistake in most languages)...
Why can't we just share the beautiful song? This was plagiarised off the Germans anyway!! The song has a strong historical importance to both of the countries.
The Life of Gert It's not copy but if you remember around 1840 ish the melodies and bridges have a main archetype thus the refrains sound alike, but there's only one Finland
Wha- FUCKING ESTONIANS! >:( Wait... how did nobody notice this before... XD Well... estonians work hard in Finland for minimal wage so I guess they can take our anthem...
