Käsipyyherullajärjestelmä. You can break that one word in parts so it is easier to pronounce. Käsi pyyhe rulla järjestelmä. Most of those long words are made just to make them sound funny, but there are also a lot of compound words, we like to write things together.

Just the other day, I was talking to someone about European names that have people tripping over their tongues in Australia. I'm sure it's similar in other countries. A couple of people actually managed to pronounce my friends married name properly. Her husband's family is Slavic. Then I mentioned that if my Finnish grandmother's name hadn't been changed that we'd have similar problems pronouncing it. Her family immigrated to Australia during WWI. It was common practice at the time. Originally, it was Kalliomaki, which means rocky hill. The family members who immigrated to America became the Hill family. In Australia, their name became Rock. I remember my mum talking to my great uncle/grandma's brother once about travelling in the top area of Queensland. Where our highly dangerous Saltwater Crocodiles live. She asked him, "Weren't you afraid of being eaten by a crocodile?" To which he replied "Well he would have had a "Rock" in him, wouldn't he?" Lol My grandmother was pretty amazing. Unlike an Italian lady I knew who forgot how to speak English in her old age. My grandma was still bilingual. I found it fascinating to hear her speaking Finnish to her cousin on the phone. Even though I couldn't understand what she was saying.

The Language office of Finland, Kielitoimisto, says they consider PYYHKÄISYELEKTRONIMIKROSKOOPPI to be the longest word in Finnish. In English scanning electron microscope. In Finnish we have a tendency to form combined words. I googled a bit and found a newspaper article telling that The Finnish Army was looking for an officer for a special job and there were 71 letters in his title. All numbers are one word in Finnish, if you write the number as a word, with letters. If you have a big number starting with trillions then billions, millions and so on... it's going to be one looooong word. We don't use cheques anymore, I think, but in the past, they had to write the sum on the cheque with letters as well as with numbers, to prevent counterfeiting the numbers.

There used to be a bar here in Finnish Lapland, Salla. It was called Äteritsiputeritsipuolilautatsi -bar. It used to be by the name Santos but due to some difficulties with "naming officials" they ended up naming the bar after that swamp (jänkä). Greetings from Sallainthemiddleofnowhere 😅👍

The first one sounded like you got this, but it quickly went downhill from there on. If someone needs to use that longest one daily basis, they probably use 'turbine guy' instead. One of the most popular Finnish RU-vid channels is Hydraulic Press Channel. One reason for the popularity is that English speakers have fun listening Finns struggle with English or hearing them not even bother with correct pronunciation. And those words don't need be long at all: "Hydraulic Press Channel Crushing book with hydraulic press" and "Anni´s show How to pronounce words in Finnish accent?".

I wish they had something to slow the voice a bit, because I understand it can be hard to follow if you say words too fast. Or they could brake those words apart, because they are compound words. It would be easier to follow one word at a time for someone who can't finnish.

Not very long word, but I think if you can say "hölökyn kölökyn", you can make an impression, well, at least in Savo, but probably in a very large part of Finland among the slightly older population. It basically mean "chin chin (toast)" or "cheers". More accurately saying supposedly originates in the province of Savo. Therefore, often when someone raises a toast with "hölökyn kölökyn", it is answered in Savo dialect with, "hölökynpä kölökyn". To that, the first person responds, "hölökynpä hyvinnii kölökyn". It might be loosely translated into colloquial American English as "Down the hatch!" -- "Yup, down the hatch!" - "For sure, down the hatch indeed!"

Kolmivaihekilowattituntimittari, you almost used bad language in Finnish. Finnish F-word was very near to come out from your mouth. Thank you for your nice videos.
