The Finn Wolf is a solid knife for the outdoors. The shape, size and thickness of the blade makes this knife durable. The grind is one that is almost perfect for camp and woodscraft chores. The handle shape provides good grip and lock in with the hand. The Tri-Ad lock is sure and adds confidence that this knife will not close up until you want it to. I have the OD Green version and the Tri-Ad lock was very “sticky” at first. You couldn’t hardly close the blade when that lock was engaged. But with a little rim oil and some use it loosened up so that it is now a one hand closer. Thanks for all the effort that you put into each episode. Your content is useful information that I appreciate. You’ve got my subscription. - Tennessee Smoky

First thankyou for the sub. Much appriciated. I was surprised at this knife. A very solid folder. I oiled it which helped some, but I am sure over time it will"wear" in. Again thankyou and be safe this holiday period.

When I was in the market for a Scandi ground folder it came down to this Finn Wolf and the EKA Swede (a Swede Wolf if you will). The Swede had a wooden scales option and I don't care for thumb studs or pocket clips so the Swede it was. Don't regret it for a second, the Swede is a beautifully put together knife of great quality but don't think I'd have regretted buying the Finn Wolf either, it looks like a solid option.

Hey George! Paused at the 4:36 mark to comment. #1 - Absolutely think you're a cool dude and I love your back story. #2 - I rarely watch many of your vids because most of your pieces are sadly, "Made in China." Just can't do it. *haha* But it's nothing personal to you at all. I saw the title of this and thought "Yesssss!!! FINALLY!" So I clicked. I'm going to give you a tip, not many know this nor do this....cuz everyone's different. But back in the day, yearssss ago. When I picked up the CS Recon1. The clip felt a bit funny on my hand. Not too bad. But still. But what I did, was I had CS send me ANOTHER pocket clip. I installed that. What it did, was that it COMPLETELY balanced the knife into my hand. I absolutely could NOT BELIEVE IT. It took every pic of pressure/weird feeling - of the one pocket clip, and distributed it throughout my entire hand by having one clip on each side. Problem solved! PLUS - fun fact : It makes those CS knives look even cooler with the 2 clips, and of course.....depending on your day/circumstances etc. you can put it in either pocket. It's just a fantastic fix and it made me wonder why Lynne never did that, I should have written him a letter and pic. Oh well. But that piece you have there. Any CS knife made in Taiwan is basically as good and well put together as any shop/company doing it here in the US. Lynne knew what he was doing by cutting some cost and passing it on to his customers. The AUS8A - actually used to be considered a "Super Steel" back in the day. CS does an incredible job in the heat treating of their 8A steel. It's a very forgiving steel and won't chip and it's easy to bring to a razor's edge. Just wanted to say 'Hey George!" You have a fantastic folder there and it'll last two lifetimes and you just cannot beat their Tri-Ad back lock by Demco. Be good. Edit : I now see what you're saying with the lock. That is NORMAL for the Tri-Ad. It's STIFF STIFF STIFF when you first get it. It needs to be manipulated and those parts need to wear in and they will. It'll be the best locking knife you own and that is a fact. Iirc what folks do...and I did too. Is overnight, again iirc....open that piece just a tad. You'll feel the tension on the spring. LEAVE IT OPEN when you are sleeping. It will break in that spring quicker and be easier on you, then consistently opening and closing x 100 a day. You can put a couple dabs of a good oil down in the lock and just hold the blade firmly....and open and close it....back and forth, without closing the knife shut. Understand? I'm sure other Tri-Ad CS owners will agree. Incredible locking mechanism George and as it breaks in, it simply keeps getting smoother and smoother and stronger and stronger because the two pieces that make up the lock seat together deeper. You'll be fine! :o)
@2ndchancegeorge
@2ndchancegeorge 9 месяцев назад
Oh my. This is great info. Thankyou. The lock is a solid as it gets, and I was sure ut would wear in over time. Gotta try the double clip idea. 🤔. If ut doesn't work for me I'll take ut off and make a little keatger slip sheath for it. I'll update this knife in a month or 2 on what's what. Appriciate your USA support. I have a thick skin so never take it personal...well untill I do. Lol. Be safe these holidays and appriciate your support.

Griv is probably short for grivory.. Grivory is some sort of synthetic ivory and Cold Steel has used it on all sorts of things, not just knife handles. Their Sharky, Torpedo, and a couple more items are made of grivory. I've seen cream colored grivory that had been etched with a light grain, then polished, for cane handles as well as pistol grips.. As such, I really thought it was ivory until I was told different. Great vid!

The Finn Wolf is a good blade. I don’t like the stubs as they get in the way of sharpening, and the plastic handle I expected to break, but it never has. Mine is paired with the Finn Hawk fixed blade. You aught to try that one out. (Hey, just maybe I can sell you a knife!) The Finn Hawk and Finn Wolf make a great pair. Like always, love your video!

That Tri-Ad lock is one hell of a lockup. I have the blue one. The blade performs beautifully. My Ontario RAT knives are also made in Taiwan. I will take Taiwan over China any day. I am not a huge fan of the plastic handle, but as a solid folding bushcraft knife it works well.

😎 Love the Coldsteel! The fin wolf is an excellent budget blade. IMO! The tri-add lock should get smoother with time! Press lock bar a hundred times then lock & unlock blade ,several hundred times & it should be a lot smoother! If you feel frisky after that, clean internals, polish brass washers & add a little dab of grease to the pivot. If you want to deploy fast & one hand out of pocket, check0ut Snaggletooth MF/tactical. ✌️🤟🤙

I added some oil and depressed the lock about 100 times it's so much better already. I go check the fast deploy. Hmm got some work to do on that guy. Great knives for the price. Thanks for watching 👍 always appriciated. You be safe out there
