Two things before you tear me a new one. Firstly: yes, I know the correct name is HELLENIC Black Metal. I just think that there’s a lot of people not aware of that, so I just named it like this so the most amount of people know what’s up. Second: I don’t know if you can actually watch this video in HD or 4k. I recorded it on 4k so it should be good, but I think it got messed up during exporting. Hope it’s good.
I love Finnish metal but Finnish Black is not my type but Greek black only septicflesh are my favourite rotting christ just play standard tuning and I prefer d tuning in black or c#
@@Kapitan_Pazur do be honest I thought they play black but I got confused from their album covers so they are death metal but they play symphonic death metal where you hear symphonies. My favourite black metal band is going to be nightfall they play blackened death metal but I love their style there was an album that kollias from nile played for nightfall
Fun fact, Necromantia wrote most of their music on 2 bass guitars; one 4 string and one 8 string bass. Very innovative for the genre at the time. R.I.P. Baron Blood.
I chose Greeks, for a bit of ancient atmosphere in some of their riffs. Good job. I'll be waiting for Polish BM vs Ukrainian BM. It's gonna be interesting.
I'm So glad that finally someone mentioned our precious Hellenic black metal scene! But it makes me sad that non Greek black metal fans glorifies the Hellenic scene more than we do here in Greece! I love my country but sometimes im a bit dissapointed because we don't promote our selfs as much as we must and as much as other countries do... Not only in black metal...we don't have to be jealous of the Norwegians or the Finish even the Swedish...although i respect them all Hails to all black metal brothers around the world!!!🤘🔥
Probably, this is a common thing for most countries that don't have giant worldwide promotion. Like "we can't do this like them. They are good, we aren't" or something like that. But the internet i think solved this problem.
@@phorz1463 Sure internet helped artists promote their music in every corner of the world...but even this sometimes is a problem because selling your music became something like posing your self or something
the way i see it Greek and Finish black metal have the same vibe that Norwegian and Swedish black metal have. ones more melodic in this case Greek/Swedish bm. the other is aggressive and or colder, Finish/Norwegian bm.
I will speak not like Greek but as a guy that lived the atmosphere of late 90's being a member of black metal bands in Greece. It was amazing times with really occult feeling we were some of the first bands getting on stage with corpse paint here at 1996-97. My band was 'Mortem examination' and our brother band 'Carpathian lords' many lives on stages here Athens. There was times watching the head bands of Greece Rotting, Deviser, Kawir, Naer Mataron, Varathron, Thu art lord. I will remmber all these years always with love and nostalgia.
I'm checking out your band as I write this. The Greek bm scene is one of my top favorite metal scenes and it had a part in helping me embrace my roots as someone of Greek descent who never really fit in with the overall Greek-American community \m/
My favourite Finnish black metal band is Beherit and Impaled Nazarene, what I know our local metalhead says in their channel videos that Beherit has some influenced from our local Death Black Metal bands ,Rator band
greek black metal uses more unique scales sometimes, however finnish and scandinavian black metal, always have a cold feel i love accompanied with awesome rhythms and melodies. awesome guitar plays btw
I'm not gonna let my patriotism take over and just say Finland takes the W here. The Greek black metal is incredible, they have more melodic riffs and their sound is overall more atmospheric in my opinion where as Finnish is darker and more on the raw side of black metal which i tend to like more and makes it more appealing to me personally. Great video as always, keep it up man!
Finnland has a lot of history at black metal, but at this video Greek black metal is like a winner at my ears. Very nice idea such a video. Good work!!!!
Man honestly great video, great skills. I am Greek but I am not gonna go into who is better ( not that you did as well ). I honestly like all the bands and to be honest I learned some new Finnish bands that I didn't knew and I will start listening from now on. For me all the riffs were ducking blasphemous and great. Cheers from Greece bro!
Dude you and The Suffocater should totally do a video together. Black Metal or Death Metal, either one would be dope as fuck. Love your content and love this video!
Havukruunu and Sargeist are sooooooo good, I've been listening to them a lot this last year, glad you included them. Also, fuck, this was fucking amazing! All the riffs are insane, played amazingly, congrats man. The best part? I only knew Havukruunu and Sargeist, I have so much new music too listen to, thank you 🥲
There’s cuts, but that particular one was a glitch because the video file got corrupted lmao (that’s also why it isn’t available to watch in HD). Thanks!
Making it look easy but it isn't I know this . Excellent job!👍👍You got skills bro! If you ever heard Greek rap it sounds a little like Spanish (to me anyway) Check out Niku Bossi "Naqeta" it's in Greek but it's an Albanian (my race) collaboration.
@@jojoplaysmusicThe mixing is so dense on the whole album you did a great job of figuring it out. I'd love to see a full song cover from this terribly underrated masterpiece of an album.
Kinda surprised that you used a song with a faster tempo to represent Varathron; in my opinion, their best songs are the ones with the slower, more traditional doom-esque tempos. Think “Under the Sight of Horus” from Walpurgisnacht or “Kabalistic Invocation of Solomon” from Untrodden Corridors of Hades.
Great video my friend, so many bands to choose from.I love that I saw Macabre Omen.Check out the band Wi ter Eternal if you haven't already. Great band. Also if you're interested on new bands, check out my band Mind Erasure ,the album is called Connive!!!Getting from Corfu!!!
Hah, greel black metal without Accherontas, Thy Darkened Shade, Acrimonious, Devathorn, etc. Very strange. But maybe you compared the progenitors of the genre in each of the countries. Then there are no questions. Still great work!
Well I never knew there was a thing called Greek black metal do the bands dress like roman gods? Once again another learning lesson from professor Jojo
@@SaladPizzaRestaurant an opinion I can respect, I like Der Stürmer but they’re not he greatest thing on the planet. Wolfnacht is incredible tho I love that shit
@@jojoplaysmusic that's good pick. I can give some recommendations, cause I'm a part of Polish Black Metal underground scene: Besatt Christ Agony Infernal War Graveland In Twilights Embrace Cultes Des Ghoules Furia Mgła Chanid Vesania Hate Them All Odraza Plaga Proch Łza Zeschniętej Róży MasseMord Arkona Thunderbolt and from Ukraine for sure Kroda Khors Drudkh Nokturnal Mortum Morok Astrofaes Lucifugum Ygg Blood of Kingu
Greek black metal all the way, the traditional metal influences make it sound refreshing and it has a more elegant occult aura, Finnish black metal sounds too samey and 90% of the songs are in the key of D minor, overusing the same patterns
Hellas wins because of Necromantia, Varathron, Der Sturmer, and Wolfnacht. Old Nightfall and Rotting Christ are cool too but they became so awful later on.
Good Job!! Your decision Shows, that you know the good Bands of Greece. If you would have choosen Naer Mataron, i would have delete my subscription of you channel.
