Let the truth be known that Ian actually has a chipmunk voice and has been deliberately slowing down his videos for the past dozen years to make his voice sound normal
Why'd you choose a 308 AK if you were gonna modernize it and add all that extra weight? Why not just run the last build with a magnifier? It was much faster and lighter, it just needed a magnifier. I would have liked to have seen you run a mini-beryl (since you're polish) modernized. You're gonna be gassed and shot after the first run my man with that heavy 308
@@mr.c.3760the Crew of polenar tactical is from Slovenia not Poland. There are quite some countries in between them... But I would like to hear his opinion anyway on your question.
Probably my favorite part of these Brutality matches is seeing the folks who run less-than-optimal kit. Because as great as it is to test yourself, it's still important to have fun. Competition always needs that element, otherwise it becomes another job. That said, I like Ziga's gun best, but overall kit goes to Bloke.
I think Calvin's plan here could turn into a new match division (PUBG division, if you will). Everyone in that division shows up with no rifle, maybe no kit at all, and no knowledge of what they will get. Could be some AKMs someone dug out of the mud, could be standard PTR 91s with red dots, could be sharks with lasers. Who knows!
Add that M-14 to some of the European shooters bringing variants of the FN FAL, the H&K G-3, the Cetme, and the battle rifles used in European Army's, western or eastern, Europe. Whatever has been in use since 1950.
@@kenlandrover I managed a whopping 11 hits ( :| ) and nearly face planted. It was fun. I think the best I've seen was 15? There's another version of the same drill that's done with a kettlebell, but isn't a normal Kasarda drill.
Pretty sure Mike should win just by turning up in that kit. 🇬🇧 that’s also one of the very rare occasions that someone has tried to use the browning holster.
At Desert Brutality '21 I managed to get third place overall on one stage. I determined that I was able to do so because of two things: 1) shooting a pistol accurately and 2) sprinting. Running sprints isn't sexy and neither is shooting the best groups you can with your pistol on B8 targets, but that stuff translates into performance.
Uncle Harry is probably banned from Finland, so hopefully Henry can help get that cleared up so he and Josh can be there next year with any weapon they want... Although Harry and Les probably do international weapon shipping slightly different 🤔 Oh well they'll figure it out! Thanks for being the dependable "supportive redirection team" this year 😆👍
Good video discussion! You covered what I tell my students; the range is here so you can improve your skills and performance, not to just come out and make expensive noise.
I agree, Keep shooting to the best the weapon system can shoot, the skill you guys have is something I strive to accomplish which means more practice, more trigger time and more training. You guys keep doing you.
The Finnish Brutality is awesome. I wish I could participate but at my age it ain't happening. I have enough trouble with a standard IDPA or a Steel Challenge competition. Wish the best for all competitors. I'll watch as many of the competitors as possible. I wish all the different shooting sports activities were available when I was younger. I am just as happy that future generations will be able to participate. Wishing the best for all competitors. Good luck everybody.
That Finnish M05 is great looking. Already saw Jiga's loadout, that's a crazy tricked out AK. If it wasn't in Finland, might be cool to try a 6.5 grendel AR.
I tip my hat for Ian's G3. A battle rifle might actually be quite beneficial on some stages, I took the 3rd place in Irons with G3 last year. It only took six rounds to turn the spinner.
I was not a boy scout and another "average" guy. I watch 9-Hole to learn how to hit targets at distance. Thank you for explaining your techniques (eg; chevron, front post, reference target-landmark) learned over "many years". Your 15 min videos have passed to me your secrets improving my on-target skills at range. Good day.... sammy
Great discussion as always gentlemen. You fellows mentioned British soldiers clearing small European houses with full sized SLR's. Remember that in WWII, much house clearing was done with M1 Garands, No4 MK1's, K98K's, and Mosin Nagant's. In those situations, the luckier soldiers had Thompsons, Grease Guns, Stens, MP40's, PPSh41's, or PPS43's.... For the heavy class in Finnish Brutality, I think I'd go with a Para FAL with a Primary Arms 3X microprism on a DSA mount......or a Perun X17 with the PA 3x microprism.
I did an all day rifle class with a PTR 32 and can tell you that the G3 platform will work you. It was a fun day , but being 59 years old I felt like i may have chosen poorly lol. It was a fun day though and the rifle was flawless .
Your comments WRT weight and size of past Battle Rifles is interesting when applied to the US military’s selection of a new rifle. Having carried an M1 Garand, M14 in training and field exercises and transitioning to an M16 in the active Army, that weight and size (including ammo) makes a world of difference, particularly with all the other “stuff” a soldier needs to carry.
Fully agree that we see you both shooting to the best of your potential. This sets a benchmark for those who wish to improve and see which platforms perform best to that improvement level. Also, regardless of discipline, if either of you are having issues, these will magnify for lesser able or practiced shooters. IMHO your videos are exceptional and benchmark skills and ability alongside the platforms and optics allowing the watcher to evaluate without the expense of time and investment to reach a conclusion. Exceptional video as always and also very funny...BOTR getting a self destruct, Gun Jesus carrying a dumb-bell weight, multiple shots of Polinar gasping and Calvin...omg! Do not change your vids and put Muppets like me on shooting...keep up the EXCELLENT work!
If I ever had the honor of being able to go to something like Finnish Brutality, I think I’d do “larp” setups because it sounds like that’d be super fun, even if it’s not the most optimal setup
Great preview of the competition! Regarding that last comment, I enjoy watching experts wring the absolute best out of any item, be they rifles, pistols or cars. What really annoys me is snobbery where anything but the most top tier precision example is dangerous garbage and those who choose lesser are incompetent poors.
This reminds me a lot of your scenario videos. Any chance you guys are going to do more of those? Maybe bring Josh’s competition experience as more “main” topic
I'm a Finnish scout sniper myself so I like to know what other people can do with weapons that are similar to that I myself are most likely to use in real situation.
on the topic of the comment that you mentioned, I watch your videos to see what the rifles are capable of when someone with the proper experience uses it. it helps m understand the potential of the rifle and what it can do if I was to train and learn.
I feel it is strange to think “average” shooters would somehow translate into more useful information. They wouldn’t shoot as well. That is all we would learn. Higher skills, more training should, I would think make the pluses or minuses be easier to identify. Especially due to more consistent shooting. I do some archery. If I haven’t practiced in a while I still shoot well enough but I am way less consistent. Also fatigue sets in quicker. Without those things effecting these guys as much I’d assume we get -more- reliable comparisons. Besides military rifles are meant to be used by people who train with them. I can’t think of any value to be added by a noob. Unless it was ease of use. In which case I suppose we would learn which gun to buy if we were suddenly going to war and planned on just lining people up and handing them out.
+1 on the philosophy that everyone should strive for self improvement, and it is good to follow and aspire to equal or exceed those who are superior shooters, athletes, scholars, whatever.
@@calebwentzel4337 You sure love proxy wars, eh? You love giving all your money to a CIA installed puppet regime led by a fucking actor/comedian? Ok pal, you sure can pick em. 😅
I really enjoyed that video - like everyone you guys made! Just a little point on US vs EU houses: we are defending our houses since the roman times - we know how to build a defensive position 😈Greeting from Bavaria - sitting in a house, built in the 1700‘s
Totally agree on the working on skills. The skill levels achieved by armies who trained to shot well compared to other armies who did not train as much been shown to have dividends many times. However this would take a several hours of discussion to go into.
Whole heartedly agree with Josh's last point on defeatism. Maybe it's just people rationalizing to themselves why they don't push themselves to improve.
Idk what the comment said exactly but perhaps when talking about taking a variety of random shooters, they meant what Karl (InRangeTV) did with Primary & Secondary testing battle rifles
you can push the limit of a firearm if you cant shoot 100 yards anyway. i love the fact that your a tac driver with irons out to 500. i kind of do like the idea of a normal shooter out on the range with you guys ( you can show the difference between skill which is more important than the rifle)
I'm glad that I'm not the only one rocking a full battle rifle. I have changed some parts on my m1a standard and also put a scout mount on my 22" barrel with scout scope or red dot. It works great and is the lowest mount. I get 1 moa out of her .
I remember competing in Finnish and Desert Brutality in '21. And by "competing" I mean "sat on my couch and ate pizza while watching them on RU-vid." :P
As a shooter and a regular viewer of your channel, I watch your contend BECAUSE of your great shooting skills. I want to know what all these guns are capable of. If an "regular" shooter shoots these tests, I do not know how the result came to be. If the person behinde the gun is very good at using guns in general (compensating for wind, weather, mirage and so on), then I, as a viewer, know what the GUN can or can not do. That is my view.
Ref your comment on the "Skill of the shooter" when you 9 hole your rifles. I agree with you, the better the shot, the better we as viewers see the potential of the rifle. It would be good to see you two guys competing in Finnish Brutality, I would love to see the gear out you would chose, perhaps maybe do a short on what you would choose, if you did have to compete, that would be interesting.
I appreciate your point at the end. I want to see what the absolute maximum performance of a weapon system by high end shooters. I really don't like to consider myself a "professional shooter" but I was an infantryman, and now I work in nuclear security where I'm paid to patrol with a rifle. Both have a level of competitiveness around our range scores and times on the ranges that involve running and clearing areas. I want a 1moa rifle to train with because I want to eliminate as many variables as possible so I knew every flyer in my grouping is due to something I am doing and can improved on. It's the same mind set of all the other top end shooters at my job. It's what's allowed to me to improve my shooting proficiency as quickly as possible because I was never thrown off by mechanical issues disguising themselves as technique issues when I was doing everything right. The other biggest driver of performance has been physical fitness. The fattest I've been was also the least accurate I've ever been. If your body is in shape every aspect of marksmanship will be easier to achieve.
100% agree with Henry & Josh...."you want to know the core potential of a firearm, so having a good shooter behind the firearm is ideal when testing on a range". Any "Average Joe" can improve their shooting skills with some time & effort (training) practising shooting fundamentals.
First of all I agree with you on keeping the bar high and improving yourself. Question for you both, what would your pack out be if you were going to Fininsh Brutality?

The one thing I don't understand is why Mike isn't running DPM Tropical, they'd be lighter and more comfortable but GOD 68 patt looks amazing and boots DMS are fantastic. Thats the loadout I am reproducing next.
