The political climate of western Ontario was shaped by a huge influx of Finnish communists in the early 20th century, and they still feel it today. This video is also a quick crash course in my understanding of the Canadian political climate on the Ontarian Provincial and National Level.

I am 49% Finnish from my mother's side, her father was a Finnish emigrant, and her mother was a second-generation emigrant. As one of the last groups to emigrate Finns were decimated against, always kick the last person off the boat. With the decimation Finns formed their own stores the "Coop's" 70 years before the hippies. My older cousins were taught Finnish. They were bullied in school by other students for their Finnish accent, I had cousins that sounded like they were in the Film Fargo. In the late 40's my aunts and uncles decided that the kids would no longer be taught Finnish, I missed out.
