Truly you are one in a billion! To have so much respect and passion in the artistic agility of the voice and what wondrous sounds it can produce. You always amaze me in your ability to analyze the colors and textures, riffs and runs, belts and vocal cries to their placements in the song and the artists intentions. You just blow me away. I wanted to send a very important message that should be of interest to all angels, and especially for Angelina. I don't know how many of you are aware, or are members of Angelina's patreon. The patreon membership is a way to get some special perks from Angelina like early previews of songs, ability to send her messages, and most importantly to support her in any way we can financially. When Angelina started her patreon over a year ago, she stated her goal was 2,000 members within the year. That should not have been unattainable considering the many thousands of members in the fan clubs. However, I see that currently she has only 250 patreons! Considering our numbers, I don't see why we could not increase that 250 by a significant amount! If we don't step up, who will? The revenue generated on a monthly basis for Angelina will help with any expenses she may incur, primarily business, secondarily family. We hear the Christmas concert was very costly, and we also are aware that Mery has been ill. I know we all extend our prayers to her for a speedy recovery. What I could add: Most time she was singing these hight parts of "go easy on me..." in her head voice, whis seems to be quite low for her imho. One time, after this belting part at the end, she uses the chest voice, and then, when it comes to that again, she easily goes four notes higher from there in her head voice again, and there it feels even stronger. (I am no vocal coach or singer just my reception) Btw, great performance, her voice sounds for me like pearls on velvet. And great insightful reaction.

Excellent analysis! Adele is a huge star, for many good reasons, and I don’t quite get why some are so opposed to comparisons. I really like to hear Adele sing this song. Angelina keeps a lot from the original, but adds complexity with more tonal variation, breathiness, longer runs, her signature «inside» vibrato etc. To MY ears, that makes it more interesting musically and impactful emotionally.

Her voice leaves my heart more than full. Sometimes her tone is so good i doubt I’m musically mature enough to fully understand and appreciate it. Those belts are so solid and it seems she has more room to go if she wanted.

With Adele you get pure, non-jazz, Adele. With Angelina you get something much more complex, for Angelina is a true jazz singer and there is no way a non-jazz singer, even one as great as Adele, can match the passion that Angelina brings to permeate the deepest recesses of the human soul. As a 'vocal chameleon' she is able to incorporate the essence of Adele, but adds the 'breathy' releases of Billie Holiday and the 'raw' infllections like 'slurring' certain ending words of a sentence, as well as radically changing 'key' within a line that Amy Winehouse was known for. The result is a '4 pronged' assault to the senses that a single singer just can't match in complexity.

I RARELY use the "genius" label (it's far too overused), and have never before used it to describe a singer, but Angelina is a musical genius in how she interprets songs and knows exactly what tools to use (from her dizzying paletee of vocal tools) and how precisely to use them to maximize genuine emotional impact in a song.

You did a wonderful analysis of Angelina Jordan's version of this song. I actually like this version better than Adele's. Angelina's version has more depth and she puts in her own special nuances where she "feels" the emotions deeply. It's hard to believe she is SO young. An "old soul" indeed. Adele's version is not better or worse. It's just a matter of preference! Both songs are beautiful and special in their own way.

Angelina's Christmas Concert that aired on the 23rd and is still available, with the quality and history of musicians that were involved, it shows how much Republic Records believes in, and are willing to invest in’ our Angelina Jordan’s unbelievable talent. She is one of the greatest talents the world has experienced, and we got to watch it happen. I have watched the concert 22 times, so far. AJ performs "You Say" at the end and she will bring you to tears.

Thank you Anna for your reaction, comments and analysis on one of my favourite singers ! Angelina is a big fan of Adele and came out with a Tik Tok cover I think the day after Adele's release that was phenomenal ! Then within another day came out with this performance ! She as you can see has a lot of Adele in her but she manages to make it uniquely her own ! Angelina's version I felt more emotionally connected and her voice has more hope in it ! I found Angelina's singing had a more heartwarming effect on me ! Adele's song had more despair and grief I felt ! But that's understandable since she is writing from a personal perspective ! The song is so very good and I'm happy that Adele is back with us again and her writing and performing beautiful music again ! Anna you are so very good at picking out the slight variances and nuances that Angelina adds to her cover ! I'm amazed that you heard some tiny changes that Angelina did that others never mentioned ! Great breakdown! That’s our Angie! A complete artist. She paints beautiful pictures with her well trained instrument. She uses so many tools sometimes in the same phrase creating a true masterpiece. Every performance is different from the last making us want more and more. A true artist at the core thanks to grandma Mery Zamani. Mery’s greatest masterpiece of them all is our Angelina.

You're such a natural and authentic reactor Anna, I love how you share your great knowledge and how you work the camera! You seem to have the same careless confidence (if that makes sense) Angelina displays when performing. I'm curious to know more about the creative process before a studio performance like AJ did here. I mean, Adele's original came out just hours before they did this! It's very raw and authentic. According to a friend of the family, Angelina can memorize a song after listening to it 3 or 4 times. She did this from when she was just 4-6 years old. I'm guessing Angelina had the song memorized before she met Rob Christie, and they had a couple of rehersals before the video was shot. I'm wondering how conscious she is about her technique when doing this. On one side of the scale, you may be completelty aware of your own technique and making active choices and adjustments as you go. On the other side, you're deep into a Jimi Hendrix-style creative zone and in the flow. Angelina has stated that when performing, she goes to that special place where everything is fantastic. I'm guessing Angelina is pretty far over to the creative side. She's like a conductor before herself playing her instrument.

@@anonimouse1618 I should probably just let it go, and just enjoy :) There's a story being told where I live, of the millipede: There was once a millipede that was like any other millipede. One day the millipede got up and went out of its cave, where it slept at night. It was a beautiful day. Just fit cool in the air, as it is on nice mornings. A sun that could be sensed behind the horizon. Sound of morning birds and leaves whistling. The millipede climbed onto a large rock. Why did not quite know, it kind of stood there and lured so nicely. It settled down well and looked towards the place where the sun would soon rise. Then it happened as it always does, as the sun's rays protruded over the mountain tops everything became quiet. The birds stopped singing, the wind died down, it was as if all living things held their breath for a few seconds to receive the new day. And the millipede? The millipede felt at once so light and good and fine, it wanted to go up, up up, and there it stood, with only its hind legs on the ground, and its upper body rocking with its head high up. And it danced. It had never danced before, it had not even known that millipedes could dance, but now it danced as if it had never done anything else. And as the sun rose that day, it was greeted by the dancing of the millipede, and it sent some warm rays down over the beautiful, dancing creature, way down on the ground. The other animals that were nearby also saw the millipede. And they watched in awe. They came closer, and soon there was a small herd of animals around the millipede. Bees, frogs, birds and even a snake lay there. Every morning after this the same thing repeated itself. The millipede crawled out of its cave, walked over to the rock, sat down quietly and waited for the sun. And with the sun came the dance. And with the dance came the animals. More and more animals and insects gathered around the millipede day by day. Then one day something happened. While the millipede was dancing, there was a voice from the animal assembly that interrupted. Some people think it was a toad. A toad who for a long time had looked at the millipede and been jealous, and who had now hatched a plan to put the millipede in place. But I do not know. Maybe it was just an animal that would like to dance itself, and wondered how it would do it. But what everyone agrees on is what followed. - You! said it down from the assembly. The millipede got ripped out of its trance and looked down. For the first time, it noticed that there were many animals there. It had only danced and not noticed what was happening around it. Now it was almost a little shy, blushing and looking around. - You! said the voice again. - Yes? replied the millipede. - How wonderfully beautiful you dance, said the voice. I would also like to be able to dance like this, tell me now, how do you do it? - What do I do? replied the millipede. - Yes, I have tried myself, but I do not understand, what leg do you take first, what do you do then, and what music do you dance to. Tell me everything, step by step! - I, I… I do not know really, said the millipede. It looked down at its body, trying to recreate what it had done. - I think… I think… it said, and wiggled the 93rd leg, and then the 65th. It was confused. Then the dance was over for that day. The next day the millipede came out of its cave again, to the rock, where it sat down, waiting. But as the sun rose, it looked around and saw all the animals. Then it looked down at its legs again. - What am I doing, thinking to itself. What am I doing? It straightened its back, held its head up, but the legs would not move. It tried to bend a little here, and then there. But it no longer looked at the sun, it looked at all the animals. It no longer felt how the dance grabbed it and led it, all it knew was 1000 stiff, shaking legs. Quietly it sat down again, turned around, and went back to the cave.

Wonderfully insightful analysis. I also noticed she is "going harder" in this rendition than is usual for her, though even then she softens it up a lot from Adele's version, which brings more feeling and meaning to the lyrics. Just going to add to all my future expressions of appreciation of her hard work and sacrifices, when she started her patreon, she expressed a hope for 2,000 members to help her finance her start into the music business. At now, only 250! Let's help the family out people. Moi moi.

What a GREAT ear you have. You are the first reactor to talk about how AJ strays off key sometimes on her vibrato here. You can also hear AJ go off key slightly during the a cappella intro to "Bohemian Rhapsody." Not a big deal -- she's still so young -- but definitely there.

Hello Anna! Setting aside her staggering vocal gifts, what strikes me most about this performance, is her visual delivery maturity. Though subtle, when she brings her hands up, I believe it was her way of communicating a "white flag" moment, tempered with a brief melodic fluttering of her fingers, to express that life can still be beautiful in acceptance. 😊💋✌

I just realized I have 25% Laplander blood in me. My maternal grandfather grew up there and left during The Big War where after being wounded fell under the care of a small but feisty nurse from Nebraska, my grandmother. He had the last of several strokes at 58 when I was 6. I remember going to there little play on my parents farm and watching afternoon cartoons and Roy Rodgers, Sky King and Lassie. He couldn't talk but in the magical language between grandfather and grandson we understood each other. Wow!! Where did that come from? Maybe the recent health issues with Angelina's grandmother and how much they mean to each other. I was a strange child too, which is not a knock against Angelina's childhood. Her "strangeness" was embraced and wasn't just allowed, but was encouraged and nurtured. I wasn't so fortunate. This performance had more in it than Angelina had available before her grandmas issues. The threat of more loss and this one closer than the others I think has given her a depth of emotion that can only be gained unfortunately by experience. But this was her best most complete effort in my mind. I felt a connection with her music that was new to me. That ee, ee, eeasy on me was perfect. Those are so tough to get out of at the right time. I also noticed her transitions from her head voice to her chest voice are so much smoother. I have always loved the shape of her 'oo' vowel sounds. She and Morissette from the Philippines both do them similarly. I wonder if there is any enunciation similarities? Angelina is going to be a monster as she gets this thing rolling forward after this pandemic quits getting so much attention. I say no more on this subject. Thank you so much for your reaction and insights. P.S. Did you notice she raised her hands in surrender when she sang the part that went, "I give up" at 3:24? I don't know if that was planned or spontaneous, either way it was cool.

I also enjoy the switch between the Finnish and English (with subs please). Even though I understand many Western European languages (French, English and German) I normally can "decode" many more (even the other Scandinavian languages) but Finnish is really something else. Thanks Anna, another worthwhile reaction. If you posted hours of reactions everyday of Angelina, Pentatonix and Morissette Amon it would keep me from doing much else in my day. So I guess it is a good thing you have other things in your life to tend. Keep the reactions going on Angelina, she has over a hundred covers of some of the best vocalists of the last century and your knowledge and expertise helps the rest of us understand why we are so drawn to her voice.

What stands out to me in this Angelina performance, although I've never seen it missing in any of her performances, is her accuracy. She sings incredibly exposed with minimal accompaniment but never stumbles on pitch, dynamics, or coloring. This song tested all those elements. When you listen to a very, very good singer, she can have 99% of it. Angelina seems to bring another 99% more. ... Anna, you should have a much larger following. I think you would have if you reacted totally in English. I find that the English captions are very good, but I guess there are too many English speakers who won't bother with them. ... Hope the new year brings you good luck.

Angelina’s voice and her total being is like an ocean wave or soft summer breeze that takes you in and rushes you to places you have rarely experienced. Your heart rate increases, you find it difficult to catch your breath, chills and shells engulf you. You are now addicted to Angelina Jordan the finest story telling vocalist I have ever experienced.

Angelina said that she felt a connection to this song as soon as she heard it. That would explain how she was able to post a TikTok video of it six hours after it was released, and this studio cover 12 days later. Some people ( including you ) think that with Angelina, she is singing of her life so far, and the connection she felt of how it tells of her childhood. Go Easy On Me, could be a plea to her Angels and others to let her live her life and not pressure her at such a young age with so many expectations. I have to admit that I stopped this video at the 7:30 mark. I'm 67 and know absolutely nothing about music except what I enjoy listening to, so all the technical aspects would be lost on me. I did really enjoy the "reactions" your face displayed as you listened though, and this is the reason I watch Angelina's reaction videos. Keep up the great work, and keep sharing Angelina's videos.

First, Let me say you are very pretty, very intelligent, with a great voice. You could be a recording artist yourself. For me there is only one singer who makes me cry, Angelina Jordan. We have other great voices coming out. Daneliya, Allie Sherlock,Diana, Grace, Angelica, just to name a few, but none have what Angelina has. Angelina has empathy, elegance, humility, etc, yes but she something extra special that it cannot even be put into words. I guess some people in the business would describe it has having that "IT" factor. At age 77, Angelina is the only celebrity in my lifetime that I could actually say I would be willing to risk my life in order to save hers. That is unadulterated adulation. Angelina is a Earth Angel. She is a Healer. She is a supernatural being !

Five-star analysis! Angelina covered this only like about ten days after Adele released it! I like Adele, but that breathy tone of Angelina is truly one of a kind! It fits the line "so go easy on me" so well! However, Adele sang that line just flat at medium volume. Adele also can't belt anymore like she did five years ago, I assume her vocals are seriously damaged. If that was true it would be a huge pity.

Hi Anna! First time in your channel and I think you did a wonderful job reviewing Angelina's performance both from a technical point of view as well as how this song relates to Angelina's own life experiences. Not many reactors made the connection! Lots of people tend to listen to her performance with Adele's "story" in mind but fail to see how the lyrics fit perfectly with how Angelina found her passion for music and started singing publicly at such a young age. The plea to go "easy on me" is for all of us to give her the time she needs to further her career and , at the same time, living something resembling to a normal life as much as possible. Just before she starts singing, we see her with her grandma who's been a driving force in her life and career and is going through a rough time. One thing about Angelina's performances and videos is that they always have a personal touch. Regarding her performance itself, as you pointed out, there are many nuances, change in dynamics, different vocal techniques that, IMO, makes the song's "texture" so much more interesting than Adele's. By this I'm not ignoring Adele is a wonderful singer and particularly songwriter. Just saying, the way Angelina sings this song has more feeling and depth than the original ;) See you around soon 😊

I love this reaction. So careful and detailed. And I have to say, ignorant man that I am, I don't think I have ever heard so much Finnish at one time. How delightful. And so fluent in English too.
