I love how cheeky these songs sound, from Säkkijarven Polkka to Njet Molotoff, it’s like the Finnish knew how absurd it was for them to be slapping around the Soviets as much as they did.
@@mikkobas9847we did lose it, but we finns take it as a victory :) no need for dumb arguments or any more bullshit thats been thrown around in the internetzz xd, thats just the fact :D have a nice day ! :)
I basically love the finnish people. Their honesty is out of this world. They just directly say what they want to say and leave it there. No bullshits, no fake compliments. Straight through the point.
Yeah well as a Finn I agree to disagree. There's liars and bullshitters like everywhere else and no, it isn't that uncommon to be honest. Maybe in the old times Finns were more reliable and honest.
I bet that is because the English translation makes absolutely no sense to you. But I do not blame you, I just give kudos to the guy who actually tried to translate this song into English. 🤣
These lyrics explain what a true community spirit is about. Together, united defending the common enemy. This is why Finland remained independent. The whole nation became ONE.
I think Finland's spirit is exemplary but let's be honest, during the Finlandisation era your country was less independent than it should have been. But a lot has changed in a short time 👊🇫🇮
Despite their recent civil war, Communists, Fascists, Social democrats, Socialists, Nationalists, and Republicans all came together to fight a common enemy.
Eggs and Sausages were the names of two strongholds at the Kiskis hills. At first, the Finns conquered both hills, but after the Russian counterattack, they had to give up the Egg. Tiltu's road ( road from lake Röhö ) refers to two announcers of Soviet radio propaganda, who were called Tiltu by Finnish soldiers. In the continuation war, catering lotta Elsa Lampi served in the same unit at Uhtua as Erkki Tiesmaa, who wrote the song. She was the song's lotta "Lunkreeni", Tiesmaa changed the lotta's last name because Lampi did not fit into the rhymes.
The song is littered with inside information and a slang that mostly just the veterans of the continuation war were familiar to. For this reason it is an interesting peace of history.
@@niepowaznyczlowiek At least at a certain unit, "attack on the Egg Hill" was used as an example to all future reserve non-commissioned and commissioned officers on tactical leadership.
Russians are again moving troops to the borders of Finland! since she, after the Ukrainian conflict 2022 , began to ask for NATO, because she still hasn’t forgotten 1939 !
@@karirytkonen1321 as I understood by you finn? if so, I am very sorry that my great-grandfather participated in this war of 1939, although he is not particularly to blame, this high command sent people to this massacre
Finns make the best war music no competition. Russians and Germans make the best military marches, Americans make the best diss tracks, but Finns make the best songs about war.
I am Finnish from my mother, my grandfather fought in the winter war, and the second world war, we were from Kokkola before, we had some land, with cows, I feel happy to be reminded of Aimo my grandad in this way
My grandfather and their father were in the winter and continuation wars. To my knowledge the area I come from is a place the Russians learned to fear, also a lot of medals were given to people from the area.
7 grandads brothers died, both granddands severly wounded (one fought in 1918 Finnish Freedom War(/Civil War)). At least this grand dads 3 boys will "give Hell" like there is no other. putins slaves will eradicate themselves in Finnish forrest-lake lands.
@@josipamatic6085 Putin relies on traitors to the Chechen people, that is, on the Kadyrovtsy. Those who fight in Ukraine on the side of Russia are not the Chechen army, they are Russian troops, and representatives of several dozen nationalities serve in the Russian army, including traitors to our Chechen nation, unfortunately. The real Chechens are now fighting on the side of Ukraine!
The language used in it is in a way very relaxed, idk how to describe it, not very serious... It has dark humor in it while it has serious message and serious stuff, it still has the humorous tone in it, even in the lyrics.
To me it's quite the contrary - the very un-warlike, cheerful feel of accordion tune makes martial music done to it all the more vicious. Hard to describe why, but nothing spells to me that merciless, hardened and purified-of-emotions grit of going to war than the joyful, cheery starting tune of _Säkkijärven polkka._
@@stalhandske9649 My grandfather fought on those places at Eldankan kylä (Village) He was a hard boiled soldier with sharpegded humour to cope with us kids....
I like this song. Its kinda got a vibe that's like saying "We are going to war again? I just survived the hangover from drinking at my last comrade's funeral !"
@@Davoodoox1 No, they weren't given to men in the trenches in 1942. They were probably vitamin pills, even though men might have thought they were something else.
The Finns make awesome military music, it is on par with the Yugoslavians, the Soviets, the Irish, and Germans. The music from the countries I listed are absolute bops.
Came here from My Summer Car -- I love that the top 8 results for "Finnish folk music" are 7 songs about telling the Russians to fuck off set to jolly pokla music, and Ievan Polka.
Translation thoughts: In the last part, "riuku" means pit latrine and in this context "liuku" means poop instead of slide. Oh boys, damn, bring my mask. Here people have built pit latrines and pooped in them.
@@emrecanarduc4378 I mean its fine if you arent blaming him but you gotta look at things realistically. The democratic idea of just dont vote the person is a very idealistic perspective. Read up on the russian election history and youll see they actually dont have a say in their government
@@yunitto731 thanks for your opinion but i still think general russian population supports invasion. If they won this war in 2 days , Putin would be hailed as 2nd Peter the Great
