It's insane that pretty much everyone agreed she wrote one of the greatest albums of the decade only 2 years ago, and now nobody's talking about her at all. What a fickle, impossible industry.
there wasn’t a lot of promo for this album, there wasn’t any tour, there wasn’t much visuals, singles, nothing like of that sort. usually doing things like that is what makes people still talk about an artist but fiona is a household name at this point, she doesn’t need to play the industry game anymore nor does she wants to, so 🤷♀️
I didn't care for her until my wife insisted on going to see her in Chicago years ago. Hands down one of the absolute best concerts I've ever seen. I've seen some pretty legendary artists, but not a single one comes even remotely close to putting the raw energy and emotion into a performance that she does. It's emotionally exhausting, but in a good way.
she seems powerful and healthy. There were times I worried about her - seemed like one of those many too-powerful performers destined to self-destruct at 27. So amazing to see - so great to her like this!
@@SuperDave44 ¿Are you Fiona? ;-) Actually wanted to add something - she's still got that anger and fire! - so many artists "find themselves" and start writing Paul McCartney music - and even when they perform their old angry songs there is no fire. Fiona today delivers! I am one who believes you can keep your fire and still grow in spirit - i pray that we don't have to become "nice" and "peaceful" to evolve in spirit. How boring that would be!
@@relentlesscactus You're all over it. Paul always wrote some weak music, even when he was also writing his best. Granny music is what Lennon called it. Fionas fire is still raging. I hope she never loses it. I feel like she'll always keep that fire. She's too tortured to ever let it go. She's a goddamn genius.
@@twistersurvivor she chooses to not be in the industry. Her music is to personel to belong to some evil record company. Full RESPECT. Her music is pure cus she has not and will never sell her soul like all the rest
This is great, man. It’s like she’s finally really coming to grips with her teens and early 20’s and is determined to push forward now. I love the emotion in this. I feel her, also being in my 40’s now. There is a drive to push forward and leave your old hang ups behind.
That's what I thought she was saying before i knew the name of the song. English is not my native language, so... I don't understand everything correctly.
Fellow gardener here. My wife almost attacked our neighbors last year for asking us to turn our music down while working in the yard (Fiona, Tori Amos, or APC usually). I've never heard her act so defensive, but still couldn't be prouder.
Hypnotic and Incredible. Fiona has always been incredibly powerful, musically and lyrically always a genius, but you can tell she’s even coming more into her own power as a person as a woman
What I love about this is not only Fiona is an amazing, gifted artist, but also her collaborators - their sintony is a blast! And I think that is one of the main reasons why FTBC feels so personal and special. I honestly can't get enough of this album!
@@SuperDave44 This is so over the top good music and what mankind is all about. Must be send from the gods of feelings. I`ve been a drummer for 30 pluss years and I would freak out to play something like this. I bend my legs into drum sticks hehe. So, damn good performance. A cold and warm everything from the north.
Tori Amos, Kate Bush, Ben Folds are three I can think of off the top of my head. Sinead O'Connor has power and angst, just listen to Troy live. Also reminds me vocally of Suzanne Vega, Laurie Anderson & throw in a smattering of Lucretia Dalts experimental soundscapes. It's good that there are "new" artists out there making something with bite rather than just generic pop crap!
@@juliaschulze290 look up Rachel Flowers. She is a gifted blind multi instrumentalist. She can pretty much listen to a piece and then play it. Her keyboard skills are amazing and she can play more than one instrument at a time.
Hearing her slay on the piano, belting out her passion has me dancing. Well done Fiona, we may have been waiting forever, but it was well worth the wait. Thank you.
I struggle with her vibrato. I'm sure the struggle breathing and talk lyrics is her style but l can't relax listening to her music. Oh Lord l see the spears flying right at me.
I didn't pay a lot of attention to her when her first album came out. Years later, I finally came across The Idler Wheel and was blown away. FtBC is fantastic too. This woman is a genuine genius.
This is amazing. This is my favourite album of 2020. Fiona Apple has been in my life since I was 12/13 and is still relevant now. I couldn’t remove her from the fabric of my life. I know that sounds extremely weird of me but her music has influenced me deeply since I was barely into my teens. Love her so much
I've waited many years Every print I left upon the track Has led me here And next year it'll be clear This was only leading me to that And by that time I hope that You Love me You Love me I move with the trees In the breeze I know that time is elastic And I know when I go All my particles disband and disperse And I'll be back in the pulse And I know none of this'll matter In the long run But I know a sound is still a sound Around no-one And while I'm in this body I want somebody to want And I want what I want And I want You To love me You And I know that you do In the dark I know that you do And I know that you know That you got the protector to pick me up And I want you to use it Blast the music Bang it, bite it, bruise it Whenever you want to begin, begin We don't have to go back to where we been I am the woman who wants you to win And I've been waiting Waiting for You To love me You You
Fiona's live performances have gotten much better over the last few years. I've always thought she was brilliant, but for the first half of her career her live shows seemed to be missing something the has now. Well done
