The first time I heard this song was 8 years ago on NPR while sitting in my car in the parking lot of a hospital where my Mom was a brain injury patient. I was a bit numb and cloudy from all the information I had received about her status and the uncertainty of her recovery. Then I heard that VOICE, the voice that trembles with pure emotion and power. I hadn't really shown any emotion up until that point and the flood gates never really opened physically, but my soul wept for my Mom and my Dad whom was still sat beside her bed side. I wept for the only definition of a love I had witnessed my entire life. I wept because an artist I had followed, adored ,and connected with for over 15+ years had wrote a song that in my eyes, and ears , immediately captured the essence of that LOVE. In my heart of hearts there's no song that captures FALLING IN LOVE, with hope and glee more efficiently. I watched my Dad fall in that LOVE once again and FOREVER in that hospital room and Anything We Want was right on time as the soundtrack of that moment. Thank you Fiona.
Hi CL, that's a beautiful tribute story, THIS IS a beautiful love song, I want a love like that, for me, for everyone. I've always hoped that my daughters get to experience the emotion of falling in love in the way this song evokes that feeling. I've been listening to the new album the last few days (today is 19 April 2020). The opening bars / piano riff of track 1 "I want you to love me" are a nice extension of the feeling this song evokes. There is one other piece of music I like, which to me evokes the feeling of falling in love. Mozart's Piano Concerto #12 K414. I was written in 1782 around the same time he married his beloved Constanze. I've always wondered if he was influenced by the happiness of new love when writting that. Take Care. X
