Funny story: When Michael shook the F2004 down on the first test, the team simply couldn't believe the times. They thought there had been something wrong with the timing equipment or the sensor, after they had checked everything well into nightime and found no errors, they believed the car was underweight, so they put it on a scale the very next morning in the exact same configuration it had been at for the test the day before and found no errors either. Ross Brawn, according to his own account then got so scared by what he and Rory Byrne had created, he called it quits that day at 10 am and went hiking in Tuscany for the rest of the day to get rid of his anxiety :) The next day they had a meeting at Ferrari and when Ross confirmed that the times were indeed real and there was nothing wrong with the car, Michael apparently looked at Jean Todt with wide open eyes and said 'holy shit Jean'. Ferrari knew they had a thoroughbred.
It was the car that helped Michael Schumacher take 13 wins in 2004... And he was the only holder of this record until 2013, in which his #1 fan, Sebastian Vettel took 13 wins while driving for Red Bull and for now, both of them are the joint holders of the "most wins in a season" record but Max Verstappen (also driving for Red Bull) will break this record with 14 or more wins this year!
@@paccin339 no limit testing is what made that possible. Ferrari 10 years later where no match for Merc coz they got off on the wrong foot and had no way to claw back the deficit till 2017 rule changes.
I remember these times being 10 years old, going from the garden to the living room to "See who will become second behind Schumi today" as my dad always said...
I love to see raw footage like this. No music, no (often) mind-numbing commentry. Just plain and simple glorious engine sounds. (another good 1 to watch is Mika Hakkinen test 2006)
Piercing, rather than brutal. It's the piercing high pitch scream of the engines of that era which is so damaging to our hearing. Brutal is the energy you feel at a Top Fuel drag race. Both ultra impressive, but different.
So beautiful to see this old videos. I grew up with Schumi. He was the reason what brought me into go karting and later formula racing. What an amazing time it was...😢😢😢
I'm very happy to have been able to see and hear the F-2004 live @ Indy. I didn't stop talking about how awesome it sounded(on top of it they placed 1+2!!!). My brother in law bought me tickets for Christmas and honestly, it was one of the best gifts I'd ever received! If you haven't been to a GP, GO!!! It is AWESOME!!!
Me as well! First F1 race I saw. I had never seen an F1 car on track. I went to the grass mounds and sat down in a chair (30ft from the track) at the end of the short back straight right before the left hander into the Mickey Mouse complex. Michael was the first car through in Practice. When he came by me at 170mph he he hadn’t gotten off the throttle and hadn’t touch his brakes yet! He didn’t drop anchor until the 50ft brake marker, turned the corner and he was gone. I couldn’t even process what I had seen. The sound, the speed and the braking left goosebumps on my arms. To this day I will never love another driver or team the same. #essereferrari
I've been watching Michael from the time he entered F1 and I knew he was going to be a champion 10 times over he was robbed numerous times of titles and bad luck but it's still kept fighting that's why he reign supreme and he alone as the only goat of being an F1 champion long live the king there will never be another Michael Schumacher ❤❤❤❤ we miss you Michael 😢😢❤❤❤❤
16 years..... damn... only if this video was one like the most of others from that period(less than 2 min) then I'm pretty sure it would have had millions of views. But I got this in my recommended, this gonna blow up like a bomb homie!
He honestly could have won 2006 as well, but he made a horrible blunder with that snap judgement decision at Monaco, which was dirty as hell and he got rightfully punished. It is a shame though because he had just started P2 behind Alonso, he could have passed him in pit stops since Brawn, Nigel and Todt were working out strategies exactly for that. Sadly Schumacher let the pressure of fighting the FIA that year and in 05 alongside the Ferrari higher-ups coaxing him to leave, to get to him and he cracked quite a bit in 2006. I really think if Schumacher had a better counselor to help him manage the stress around that time, he would have kept it cool and not done what he did at Monaco. At which point, he would have retired an 8 time champion or went on to win even more. 2007, he would have likely won if he stayed instead of Raikkonen coming in. 2008 I think he would have taken a backseat and helped Felipe win as a wingman because Michael was already mentoring Massa at the time. 2009 if Brawn had asked Michael to join his new team instead of Button or Barrichello, no doubt that Michael would have won again and been a 9 time champion. But that's all just a big "what if" game.
@@brolo7234 Well said. P22 to P6 in Monaco was unbelievable, he would likely won from P2. Not to mention 1999 when brakes failed in Silverstone. He would win also because Irvine (with Michael’s help in last 2 races) almost did it. He would not be in 2008 with Massa if he stayed. Because Ferrari signed kimi for 2007 and If Michael choosed to stay, Massa would be out after one year. But Michael did not want that and left himself, so Massa could stay in Ferrari.
The combination of the Ferrari F1 team from the Time Michael entered the team with Jobt Tot Ross brawn they're mechanics and people behind Michael Schumacher in this era of F1 racing series they would never be another team like it the new teams now or just trying to get close to the stats and golds I want this team accomplish from 1997 till 2004 it will never be another F1 team like it that's why Ferrari is the number one team I'm will always be Michael is the greatest driver of all time because he built that team up to what it was and what it is today God bless the tofis and Ferrari F1 team ❤❤❤❤❤🙏🏼
Interesting how rough the V10 sounds at lower revs during the shakeup. I guess everybody knows this engine screaming at very high pitch. Anyway this really magic. I wonder if Michael and the team instantly realized that they build the ultimate F1 car.
F 2004....auto perfetta.... Schumacher traiettorie disegnate perfettamente.... Binomio perfetto.... Irripetibile.... Nessuno come Lui prima durante e dopo.... Alonso Vettel Leclerc.. Guidano.... Anni e anni senza un titolo in Ferrari... x quanto mi riguarda Schumacher è Leggenda...
I think 3:34 is the bit where he finally says screw it it’s working let’s punch it and opens that throttle all the way, you can hear the difference in max revs by engine note! First time (most likely) it got pushed and it’s on camera for the world to enjoy!
I want to see michael and the v10s back in 2010! If kimi has another sub-par season michael should be straight in there! Schumacher still has the pace as he demonstrates whenever he drives ferrari f1 cars
To think a few days later after this took the car to have a comparison test with their previous year car at Imola only to dropped every single Ferrari F1 jaws to the floor of how insanely quick this car was. Easily one of the greatest F1 cars ever and considering there wasn't a huge rule change between 2003 and 2004
@@reinardishprivate testing has been banned in 2009. Now teams can only test during the collective pre-season test days. (they are also allowed 2 "promotionnal shooting" days they can use to check the car but with demonstration tyres that are useless and limited to 100km)
That car has absolutely no sense of humour...Come on,its your testing days, you are supposed to oversteer, block your wheels a bit..you know that kind of things ...Damn you F-2004 WHY ARE YOU SO SERIOUS ???
