Fiorenza Cossotto is one of the all time greatest dramatic mezzos, performing Amneris. Wonderful, rich mezzo voice, with great a chest register and perfect Italian diction.
Unfortunately, nowadays, most real dramatic mezzos voices have vanished. Well respected artists like Anita Rachvelishvili are afraid to use chest, the voice is weak at the bottom or sometimes even inaudible on some syllables, words, or even phrases.

I would love to hear more from this perfomance, especially her trio with Aida and Radamès, her duet with Aida and her duet with Radamès, which precedes this scene, could you post these excepts? Thanks. She is great, however, her high notes are already screamed here.

Great video. But Rachvelishvili has a monstrously amazing chest voice. Have you actually heard her live? I have! As Azucena! MASSIVE voice. Biggest mezzo I’ve ever heard and her voice is much bigger than Cossotto for my tastes, since Rachvelishvili verges on contralto, in my opinion.

Anita is the singer that I most want to hear live. Her voice seems to be historically huge. After her pregnancy, she is struggling a bit to return to her prime but I think she will overcome these problems.
