I have the non sense model and throw my weber shaker under it to dose directly to that and I love this grinder. I usually purge about 3-4g before my first coffee of the day
I owned a coffee shop and we only used Fiorenzato's. Every other grinder had issues over time even those that were double the price. The Fiorenzato's were amazing and never failed. For home use it will last literally forever. Thank you for the review on the features. The retention is probably the most concerning item, but you can manual out a little before using and it should all be good.
You can add a billows kit to either the hopper or remove the hopper and add a direct billows kit to minimize the retention. I use a billows kit and set the weith ~5gm less collect absorb the retention grounds using the billows after grinding.
Great review man! I have never used a grinder from Fiorenzato so it was a nice to learn about the company and some of the quirks, and good things. Espresso Parts reached out to me about reviewing this grinder on my channel so I'm excited to hopefully get one soon. Keep up the great videos!
Had a Fiorenzato F4 years ago. Was impressed on the build quality and grinds output. Only reason why I sold it was due to the single dose grind retention. These are definitely built robustly.
Just got my allground a few days ago. It's been great so far. Actually had to return the first one because it came with a severed power cable. Completely DOA. Super easy to dial it in, just fine tuning it at this point. Kind of bought this before finding out about the Eureka Atom W 65. I wonder which one is going to be the better grinder. Definitely better burrs on the Allground. But yea, definitely try to get your hands on the Atom ASAP and maybe even do a side by side comparison with the Allground.
I'm not so sure. If you only put a few days of coffee in the hopper and you drink 2 or 3 coffees a day, it's going to be fine. Unless you are an absolute freak, in which case, are you only going to be drinking one or two coffees a day?
I’m really hesitant to weigh in here without actually testing a Eureka. I will say, I haven’t heard the greatest things about the adjustment mechanism and they are not a shining star on retention either (which, isn’t necessarily a deal breaker in on demand grinders). @@DaddyGotCoffee Thanks for the detailed response! I've got the Libra and i’m not super happy with it. The scale has a deviation of up to 0.4g, even though it should be factory calibrated. Also, the small and fiddly adjustment knob makes it difficult to find the right grind setting. I see a huge advantage in the Fiorenzato with the large adjustment ring. I'm thinking about upgrading but I'm not sure if the extra cost is worth it. Once dialed in the espresso tastes good on the Eureka. The retention is also okay. It is about 2-3 grams, at least what i measured.

I haven’t seen this review, but, it seems pretty intuitive to me? On espresso mode there is a “hand” icon at the top of the screen. Insert a portafilter, press that hand and it will manually grind, showing the weight on screen.
I had a Sette 270 (without the wi) so can't tell you much about the weighing, but Fiorenzato is producing a more uniform grind IMO than Sette 270 (which is an excellent conical burr grinder in its own right). It is tougher to dial the All Ground than the Sette, in and Sette 270 (outfitted with a billows kit) has markedly less retention when using as a single dose - but neither grinder is truly designed for single dosing.
A couple of questions if you have the time. How did you find the filter performance itself? Are these the same burrs found in the older Allground, just with a new coating? Also, tastewise as an allrounder, how does this compare to a Mahlkönig x54? Very interested in this, assuming they come up with a good solution for the filter usability issues. I really appreciate you bothering them about it, I already ruled this out for that exact reason. Really don’t understand their thinking there.
Filter performance was decent but because I was primarily using for espresso, I would typically keep a hand grinder dialed in for filter and keep this dialed in for espresso. That retention really kept me from wanting to flip back and forth and I think the best use case is probably leaving it primarily on one setting or the other (with espresso being the only really useable setting with the current filter dosing situation) New burr geometry compared to the old AllGround! Forgot to mention that. It’s a little faster and IMO cleaner. X54. I get better clarity and a less milky mouthfeel. Maybe a little less forgiving than the x54. I’d want to do a more rigorous side by side before saying anything more definitive. Agreed, what is with that filter situation???
@@DaddyGotCoffee Thank you, very comprehensive. The brew/filter aspect does seem like an afterthought, as it did with the old Allground which was lacking the time based programming for moka/filter. Why spend the actually hard and expensive r&d on a multi purpose burr, and then seemingly ignore the comparatively simple UX! As an unasked for and selfish suggestion, a broader look/comparison at multi-purpose grinders would be an interesting watch!
@@ahahahahahahahahaa It's a strange grinder in many respects. Unless you use the same coffee (bean) for Mocha, Filter and Espresso, which I find hard to believe! Even then, jumping between the grind settings would be a nightmare, unless you are good at counting dots! All that said, for single use (espresso) I find it brilliant and just ignore all the other bells and whistles.
Just picked up a sense, moving up from the Libra. The Libra is just such a pain to clean, and honestly I didn't like the stepless grind settings on the Libra. Now if only they would release that dosing cup...
I've had this grinder for a while and share your frustration with the forks - they are a very poorly thought-out design and useless if you are using smaller portafilters (sage etc). I have considered making my own forks to over come this and to hold some sort of dosing cup - interesting that Fiorenzato are finally looking at it. I don't get your comment about the temptation to pull the portafilter during one of the micropauses. Another criticism I have is the legend on the ring, given this is supposed to be for jumping between brew methods - with only dots it must be impossibly hard to get back to your previous setting - surely there should be a number scale of some sort to help you remember? All that said, this grinder produces a divine grind of fluffy coffee which requires a minimum of faffing about about. I don't consider it loud, in fact, I find it far less obnoxious than many grinders
@@LoveGod16 I have a Sage Barista something or other - this is a great upgrade, significantly better than the built-in grinder. The issue is the forks are designed to hold a full-size portafilter and the sage one doesn't stay put very well. The solution I use is a 3D printed bit which my son bought me years ago. If you PM me, I'll take a picture later and share it. Ideally, the forks need re-designing to accommodate the different portafilters and better still a dosing cup. I don't think this aspect should put you off, but it will be a small frustration. The dosing by weight and quality of grind shouldn't be underestimated. My son uses the Niche on the same setup, which is also worth considering, but obviously, you still have the faff of pre-weighing the beans.
I shelled out $ for the new fork, and it works better with being able to fit the portafilter / dosing ring - but I still can't figure out how to use the new fork with the dosing cup they provided.
I thought it had to be shimmed originally to get the grind fine enough, but the factory settings are enough (past the finer "e" dot) to get it to the grind that works with Flair p58. Shimming it made the grind too fine and it started to clump - it is not necessary. On Sette 270, you need one shim in order to grind fine enough for Flair p58
