Mary as someone who lost a kitty to this disease I'm so glad there is a chance to cure these babies. Thank you for talking about it.

Thank you for sharing this video. I watched it a while ago but didnt ever imagine I would ever be in the same situation. I was informed my 7 month old kitten had fip and remember this video so I knew I had options other than saying goodbye. Fip warrior admins and mods are truly angels. I have 73 days left of shots but my kitten is reacting very well. Thank you for helping me not go into panic mode. 💜

just started treating my kitten for FIP, we're about 30 days down now! I'm going to my local vet each day and having a tech do the injections, but it's still not an easy road... if you have any more footage it would be so great if you did a video sharing your journey with daily injections, any additional symptoms they experienced during treatment, etc. I know the FIP community would appreciate it!

Anyone who thinks their cat may have FIP should contact FIP Warriors before going to the vet. Get all the info. they can provide about the treatment, and approach your vet with that info. before diagnosis. If the vet does not seem receptive, go to another vet. Most vets will not let a cat who is diagnosed with FIP leave their office alive. They insist all FIP-positive cats be euthanized. It's harsh, but they're afraid of the disease spreading.

We lost a wonderful little kitten to FIP a few years ago, just before this treatment was available. I remember telling him, as he was so sick and I was holding him, that someday we'd be able to prevent this, and who knows, maybe even to cure it. I never thought that it would be so soon after he died. If a treatment had been available then I'd have spent the money like a shot.

I want to add for panicking parents - don’t let your vet gaslight you into euthanizing without all the facts. After moving from our long time vet due to her discomfort with even having a cat on this “experimental” treatment we finally have found a vet willing to be a much needed asset to my sweet ragdolls life moving forward. They have to protect themselves from any potential legal danger they may think possible, but a compassionate vet is out there and you need to start treatment ASAP with or without a vets guidance. It is mandatory you figure that out, but you need to start treatment first and foremost. Great video. Awesome info I wish I’d had when we started. My kitty is now 2 years old this month & 1 year out of observation & cured. Still a few lil health & bloodwork quirks but he’s my little sweetheart and I couldn’t imagine my life without him with me every day. ❤️

I adopted a brother and sister a few of years ago, I only had them for a couple of months when one became sick, her stomach was big and she didn't want to eat. I took her to my vet right away and the vet said I needed to put her to sleep immediately, and to separate her brother from my other cat and to keep a close eye on the brother, who was not sick. Sadly, within the next few weeks the brother became sick. I can't remember exactly how it went, but one had the wet version, one had the dry version. I was able to bring the brother home because he didn't seem to be uncomfortable and he was still eating. However within just a couple of weeks, maybe not quite that long, and he became sick. I was so upset and had to put him to sleep as well (this cost a lot of money by the way as well). You just now started talking about the wet/dry forms. We had to clean our house from stem to stern, lysol all fabric furniture, sterilize all the cat things, and wait for a few months before I could adopt any more cats. Thank God our old guy didn't get sick, but it was a horrible death for both cats. I sure hope these studies are helpful, because my two kittens suffered horribly, and I did find out from the rescue that all 6 kittens did die from FIP.

Aw man. That's a horrible time you and of course your cats went through. Hopefully the treatment will soon be available all over the world.

Britta and Ozzy really took a hell of a ride at their bebe-age. I'm so thankful they were / are with you. Cause sometimes health needs more beyond the capabilities of the traditionel ways of treatment and you reached for it and safed this two beauties. Thank you for your engagement for all the bebes, your courage for all kind of "missions" and your patience with us - the neverending questioners. ;)

15 years ago, my 6 months old cat was strange one morning. She couldn’t walk straight anymore. I went to the vet and he proceeded to take an amber fluid out of her belly. He then told me that she had FIP and that there was nothing he could do. I had to euthanise her there and then. I’m still crying over her because I was her human and should have been able to help her but couldn’t. I find it especially hard now, knowing there is treatment and she shouldn’t have had to die.

My 5 year old cat died of this here in the uk the vet thought she had had fip since she was a kitten. There were no symptoms until the night she stopped eating and we took her to the vet and she was taken in and put on a Drip. They did the test and found fip had taken over and her kidneys were starting to fail. Three hours later we had to say goodbye as she was in so much pain and there was nothing they could do for her. I still haven't got over the loss of Pickles she was a beautiful tortoise shell kitty which I found on the side of the road abandoned, she had a beautiful soul and we miss her dearly

Thank you for the info. My sister had 3 kittens that passed away from FIP about a year ago. It was so hard for her and her kids. It's unfortunate that the treatment is still so expensive.

I'm glad there's finally a cure for the disease now (or at least one being tested for). I remember loosing a beloved baby boy to the disease when I was younger so the fact others may not have to go through that pain is amazing

Great explanation! I don't have the patience to do any research like that. I noticed your clay little.....I just switched my cats to wood pellets for litter. You can get 40lbs from the horse areas at farm stores for about $7.....when they pee the wood pellets change to dust. Super awesome!!! I don't have a sifting little box so I just use the scooper to sift the intact pellets to a different side of the box and then scoop out the dust. I have 3 indoor cats......LOVE IT! Thought it might be of interest.

My 16 week old is very sick. We are doing supportive care at home now after 25 hours of in vet care. No definitive dx yet. Waiting on pcr fever test. To come back. I am seeing improvement. If it is fip, it would be the dry version. No fluid seen. Our only real symptiom is high fever. ( and the lethargy and lack of appitite that goes with that. No nausea or vomiting. She was sick for almost two days, then got really bad, spent 24 hours in ER vet care, and now is home for 24 hours. She is getting a bit better. Though it is obvious she still has a fever and does not feel good. But when the fever seems to dip a bit more she eats more. Especially with the appitute stimulant on board.. she seems to be drinking pretty well as long as she isn't in that super high fever state, like when she was up to 105.8. My vet thinks o should wait before considering treatment. Though I had the feeling she doesn't believe in it. But my girl is getting better. We don't have a confirmed diagnosis. Im so torn.

I sure wish that I would have seen this video before today....because yesterday I euthanized the sweetest little Ginger Boy who was diagnosed with FIP, the wet one. I thought he just had a belly full of roundworms....boy was I wrong. Unfortunately I was told my only option was euthanasia due to his suffering....He came to us thru a feral colony that we feed and TNR, at only 6 weeks old his little face had been burned. This one really hurts......

I have lost 6 foster kitties to FIP and currently have one that I suspect has it. On way to vet today. This treatment gives me such hope that I can save this one. Do you find that vets are willing to help on this journey given that the treatment is not approved? Thank you for all that you do.

A lot are very guarded in my experience which broke my heart as a panicking mama of a brand new kitten. But keep fighting for that baby because there are vets out there who are willing and care about fighting with you.

Well, Crap. As a foster mom I think I am dealing with this at one time I had low numbers but ....I am in the height on kitten season and had limited room so I had a definite over crowded area. I cleaned non stop but it's never enough. Does the cat present as anemic as well?
