translating such difficult and complex concepts on the spot is so hard, props to sh hamza. he really is a legend may Allah swt preserve him and sh abdallah
This real time translating, its so taxing on Shaikh Hamza. What is said in Arabic in 3 words, takes 10-15 in English & often completely fails. The reason for this is that we are transliterating from a highly structured language, to a loose one thats built off a few rules here & there, & not logically constructed from the ground up. It was so funny watching the shaikh Bayyah sneak some french words to help Hamza translate, & saying may God aid you in this difficult task. Allah reward both for their jihad in this.
His translation did justice to the speech(in getting the point across)الحمد لله Arabic language is very (جامع) inclusive (this word “doesn’t do justice to the Arabic word جامع) The difference is that I have to use different synonyms to explain the word جامع to support the translation “inclusive” then someone may get a better understanding of the term. This is why English only sounds good or impressive when you use different and more technical words to explain something. Whereas.. The beauty of Arabic is that the simplicity of the language carries the meanings of many different words by the right usage of the word. (Such words and grammatical structure that result in very subtle changes is where the English language is lacking therefore diffecent) And this diffecency is what you have explained and I Agree.👉(“highly structured to a loose one....logically constructed..”)👍
@@mohsinakhtar7876 It did brother...it did. Thank you for your most informative addition, I was looking for a word like the one you generously provided & it does come very close "جامع". May All shower our scholars of old with his grace, for they have left us a jewel of a language to build upon. May Allah Bless the minds of our people & eradicate ignorance from our mist.
Alhamdulillah we still have muslims with wisdom and true understanding! It makes me so happy and grateful to Allah (swt) who still gives us people like shaykh Bin Bayyah and Shaykh Hamza Yusuf. We are very near to the day of Judgement as we know, so my dear muslim sisters and brothers: Do not worry in the least about people criticizing and backbiting people of hikmah and sincerety - Allah is well aware of them. Don't waste your time and energy with them, but leave them alone. Allah is sufficient for us, the All-knowing, the Ever-living!
Here I will put some terms that were not translated: Fiqh = To intellectually comprehend/conceptualize.The word is mostly employed to describe the role of the scholarly craft of uncovering the meaning of scripture or philosophy. Faqeeh = a person who has dedicated his life to the above craft. Hadeeth = Narrations of the prophet's life & actions in different circumstances, as told by his companions, who were numerous. Haraam = Forbidden [by God]. Fatwa = A ruling issued by either a major scholar or a consensus of top scholars from different countries. MuFti = One who issues a Fatwa. Later, I will add more as time allows me.

GREAT! SubhanAllah just the weight of each word Sh. Bin Bayyah said, may Allah grant us a clear understanding of this beautiful deen, and the ability to implement it with wisdom
The door of Ijtihad being left open is a great blessing and favour of الله ﷻ on this ummah and we should not be ungrateful by imposing our self pleasing self righteous opinion under the pretence of being loyal to the giants of old who taught us to walk. We should keep walking instead of walking backwards. May الله ﷻ bless this great sheikh with good health strength and long life and make him successful in his mission . آمین
Self awareness is part of wisdom. In which category do we fall? 'Then we caused to inherit the Book those We have chosen of Our servants; and among them is he who wrongs himself, and among them is he who is moderate, and among them is he who is foremost in good deeds by permission of Allah . That [inheritance] is what is the great bounty.' Q35:32
Assalamu Alikum Sheikh Hamzah Yusuf you are the best Interpreter Masha Allah💖 And this is clearly Allah’s mercy up on you Alhumdulillah! We benefited from this knowledgeable (Faqid ) Sheikh.
جزاک اللہ خیرہ کثیرہ کثیرہ 🤲🏼🤲🏼🤲🏼۔ In this time nd age we desperately need these great people to step up nd out to teach people what Deen really asks of the state rulers 😢
It was really an interesting topic. The fiqah of reality and this is what every Muslim is facing everywhere but is confused how to face those realities in the light of the Guidance from Allah in the shape of Quran and Hadiths /Sunnah. The shaikh beautifully explained that we have to live with living realities. How man-made description in the past are no more applicable and textual application is possible within the given circumstances. It is encouraging that he quoted a hadith that during the period of the prophet Muhammad s.a.w leaving 1/10th part of Deen was considered destructive for that kind of society but for us in this modern age acting upon 1/10th portion will be a source of success. He beautifully explained the concepts of Darul Islam and Darul Harb and that they were man- made description and not a division as per text of the scripture and he coined a new terminology Darul Jadeed. He further eloborated that certain concepts like Hijrah and Jihad were evolved and showed practical examples from the the period of the Holy Prophet s.a. w. I am a judge by profession and from Pakistan. We have a mechanism of Islamization of laws in Pakistan. I had confusion that where from and who coined this concept ?. Secondly, Quran ordains us to decide as per his revealed law, say, law of inheritance, and this is recognized as a law in Pakistan, but, simultaneously we have contrary customary inheritance laws and statutory law, that has deviation from the pure Islamic law of inheritance, giving children of predeceased child the same right which their father would have otherwise received, had he not been predeceased. We know the consequences of not deciding in accordance with the revealed law, which are severe. But we have another verse showing that Allah doesn't burden a soul except when he/she has the capacity and also the example of Yousaf a.s when he couldn't get his brother as per the law of the king and circumvented the law and applied the Shariat of Yaqoob a.s. Please answer how to deal this situation, circumvent the law and try to apply the Islamic law of inheritance or bear with the existing applicable law and rely on the verse that Allah doesn't burden us except with our capacity.
I was getting impressed day by day. Remember satan came to abu Huraira and told him to read "ayatoll kursi" to avoid satan. There is an ayah in Qorraan Truth has come and the lie has been distorted. It is beneficial to stay within the lines. Load voicing newity will not change anything. Qiyamah is one for all the times!

The bigger jihad from physical materialism gains(or the sunnahs)is the jihad of your desires(manners of intensities rather than merely minds over matters providences accumulated).
Read Al-Muwafaqaat of Imam Shatibi which is a four volume book. It is about Reconciliation of fundamental laws of Islam.. For short understanding read Al Maqasid as sharia fi islamiyyah of Ibn Ashur. English translation is available.. May Allah forgive and guide us all - Amen..

My deepest respect to Sh Abdallah and brother Sh Hamza....However, it seems to me that the core drive for this conference is to rationalize the weak, betrayal, and corrupt rulers of Muslims.... by nullifying the role of Jihad and reducing it to moral resistence of injustice and tyranny. It wouldve been stronger and more pertinenet had the Sh addressed the causes of the decay and backwardness of the Ummah, like corruption, tyranny, and injustice. He could've addressed the need for better education, liberties, rule of the law, equality, and accountability of the people in charge. This entire speech is to shield the rulers from people's anger and justify their alliance to the West and big powers. An opportunity wasted, intellect misused, and using Fiqh to serve the dictators.
I have high respect to our teacher bin Bayyah and also Hamza Yusuf but the problem they ‘re been used by the wrong hand specially by the UEA spreading the wrong message.they talk about peace but everyone knows that abu Dubi
MashaAllah Hamza Yusuf is a good interpreter, but you should have translated الجنة to Paradise and النار to Hell. Which you didn't do. There the meaning was very clear.
Many lecturers when they address Muslim audiences do not translate those words because they assume every muslim should know but now days because of the internet lectures should take count of their online audiences too. If you listen to online lectures you will notice it a lot. I agreed there are many new muslims or not even muslims interested in listening to lectures like this.
The hadith the Shaikh mentions in At-Trimidhi from Nu'am ibn Hamad is weak rather many of the scholars of hadith have declared it to be from Munakir and Wahiyat (extremely weak and close to fabrications)
you can meet him and confront him with it rather you pasting wanting to show. I know a sheik who refute every thing any one says and one day he prepared all his proof of ten point before another elderly sheik. Guess what happen? every point of his were watered each after each and that's when he realized experience his not what you pick on the road rather you work for . So you can't just pick BOOK OF KNOWLEDGE believe you have it all .

@@Adam-st4xm The prophets of the Old Testament were Hebrew. Far before any Arabic prophets. As we all know Muhammad changed the original Hebrew Scriptures. Also Muhammad was illiterate, and depended on someone else to write for him.
@@stevepolanco9887 Lmao, I asked for where in the Holy Qur'an it said all prophets were Jewish, not a "proof" of why Prophet Muhammad (may God bestow peace and blessings upon him) was supposedly a false prophet. Also, Job, peace and blessings upon him, wasn't a Jew and is a Prophet in the Bible.
I think the Sheikh is living a different reality. He should move to the West and live here for about 10 years so he can understand. Then he should advise us.
your Islam is not a true sunna. If you love Allah swt and his prophet then the true path is that of the companions far from the innovation of sufiq and shiite astray
