I think it is stupid that everyone was told that there is a fire drill but when the real fire happens then people is hot going to be told until the fire alarm goes off. Great video keep up with the awesome videos Nic.
They should do more surprise drills. The high school I went to did some surprise ones. The ones that weren’t a surprise were up to the teachers to mention it to the class. I usually ended up finding out about the surprise ones but kept them to myself
When I was in high school, my high school's fire alarm system consisted of a huge variety of Wheelock devices! We actually had a couple of System Sensor MA devices as well, and those two were set to 800hz continuous.
Its interesting to note the fire system differences between here and in the UK. In the UK, a building fire "activation" is a continuous ringing of bells/sounders, whereas a fire warning of an activation in an adjacent building is a pulsing bell/sounder. Always an interesting video Nic, many thanks.

Doing notified Fire Drills is stupid as heck imo. It causes Situations like I had recently where the Fire Alarm went off and everyone was like "Is this a Drill?" the Class sat there for like 8 Minutes not evacuating at all, while the Professor asked around if it was a Drill. I was internally facepalming and just got up and advised them to evacute immidiatly no BUTS and IFS, and checked the Fire Alarm System cause I am authorized to do so as a volunteer firefighter, which was saying that a Smoke Detector went off in the Class Room below us, luckily it was just a false Alarm because they were cutting wood without a vacuum attached and all the Sawdust and slight Smoke created from the heat of using Machines to saw Wood made it go off, but I dont wanna imagine how precious these 8 Minutes would have been in an actual Fire.
I don't think that's directly related to notified drills. How was the quote (badly translated)? "When something unexpected happend 5% of people panic. And 90% imitate them." Most people, who do not receive proper and regular training, are just acting stupid. And even if they are trained - some will still get overwhelmed and panic once they notice it's the real deal. If they're not asking about if it a drill, they'll ask around if it is a false alarm or whatever. Little popcorn time? Had a tripped ASD in an airtight room once. Building has no "real" visual or acoustic alarms besides one lousy combo in the room itself, rest is just automatic phone alerts (yes, I hate the lack of official requirements…). While I'm luckily not responsible for the system, I've got some sort of virtual annunciator panel on my PC, as they partly use lines I manage. Gives me a good idea if I should hurry or can slowly watch the chaos unfold. Well, lets say while leaving, some people were still sitting at their desks. One person was actively unplugging phones, as "the work needs to get done today, I have no time for this and the alarm sounds are annoying". I sadly and unexpectedly stumbled and hit the EPO, so no further discussion necessary. One (insert nice word for person here) even tried to open the sealed room to "see what is going on in there". Really? Opening a possibly burning room and releasing toxic fumes? Without wearing SCBA or any kind of PPE? In a building where people are still trying to get out? Great idea, mate. Luckily nothing major, just a melty distribution box (check your screws regularly…), but let's say firefighters weren't impressed with how some people acted.

I agree, don’t tell them next time. Most time at school you are not told when. Some people who are anxious might get a rough time frame. Really, unannounced is best. E.g. give date but no time.
Nic the fire alarm system in my school is a notifier2640 with a 3030 display and pull stations nbg12lx and for smoke detectors fst851 for horn strobes system sensor P2R and in the classrooms SR and some classrooms SRL and there’s three of them and one of the custodians at the school gave me the three strobes they were replaced and my school does elementary middle and high school

Great video as always. its interesting how that one strobe that was outside was burn out. i never actually seen a dead strobe, could it be that its exposed to the elements like extreme heat and cold temps and that shortened its life?
Sounds to me like some sort of distortion caused by so many alarms can be heard in the same area as you have hallways on either side and the atrium with an echo effect may have just been the microphone
@@nics-systems-electric I hear it and it happened because you've accidentally covered up the camera mic on your phone which made the alarms produce a weird sound on video as it kinda created a phasing audio effect of a sine wave modulator changing the volume of the sound's frequency range's volumes where's in real life you wouldn't hear that weird sound at all as that's not possible And also because in the previous fire drills I didn't hear that sound which meant it wasn't the room and the echo distortion from the alarms because SpectrAlert Advances can't produce this type of echo distortion which means that you've accidentally covered the camera mic
Wsp sigma, not seen u in edges. My high school is very large, 3 story, and 120+ rooms then aroudn extra 30 for the staff stuff and storage. then 10 mroe for servers. then you got 2 sizes football pitches made out of astro turth, 2 full sizes absketball pitches and a big grass area.
