I took NFPA 72: Basic Fire Alarm System and it was great. I have a question regarding the certification. Which route is taken to become a fire alarm designer. In NFPA website, three types of certifications are approved by Pro Board, Fire Inspector I, Fire Inspector II and fire plan examiner. my question in other words, how can some one become a fire alarm system designer ? I am glad I found your channel, it is very informative.

Hi Azam, appreciate your feedback to my channel and I'm glad it helps. All the certification that you mentioned above are the options of the professionals who are working in the fire protection industry for their credibility. You may take any of those depends on which field or role are you working for. But if your aim is to have a certification for fire alarm system design as designer and if your reference standard per your local code requirement is NFPA, then I may advise you take online NFPA certification such as NFPA 72, 70 & 101 which I also discussed in my video some important chapters as fundamental for designer. You may also want to try to take CFPS exam which you can use for your credibility as designer for fire protection. Some country like in USA require other certification like NICET with different levels.

Hi, What is the criteria of smoke detector placement in ceiling void?? Do we need smoke detector In ceiling void if only instrument cable is running inside ceiling void . Thanks in advance

The requirement for placement of detector will vary depending on which code your country is implementing for the construction of the building. Check your local code requirement for your guidelines of fire alarm requirement. Some country like I worked before, it is in their local code that detector shall be placed in ceiling void especially when it is accessible that people might access it for storage of potential combustible materials or if there is obvious source of ignition like equipments installed above the ceiling. My advise for you is to check first your local code requirement.

Hi Levy, the manual call point can be placed at any distance to the electrical switch and there is no specific from NFPA. If they are in one place, usually they are mounted at same level provided that you still maintain the limit in height which is within 1.07m - 1.22 from ffl to the operable part.

Hi. Thanks for watching. As specified in NFPA 72 in clause 17.4.7.2 of 2016 edition, they shall be in accessible location and be labeled clearly. Therefore you can propose at any height feasible as per site. But be noted also that remote LED can be omitted in concealed location when we use addressable FDAS as long as the specific detector can be viewed from the FACP. You can check NFPA 72 clause 17.4.7.3.
