@FireTech7771 I don’t have one in my collection, but I’m hoping to find one in the future. If you’re referring to the one in my profile pic, it’s one that I saw at my local Cracker Barrel.
@@DanTDMJace my Cracker Barrel has Gentex SHG horn/strobes. I use to have one as my pfp, but I’ve since changed it to a Wheelock ET1010 speaker/strobe that’s from my Elementary school
My school was built in the 90s and it has wheelock mt hornstrobes set to the default horn continues and the cafeteria and gym have wheelock Mt voice evac with a pretty huge panel which is located in the lobby that is a fire alarm/voice evac pannel from wheelock. Also, it is a sprinkler building. The school has very few smoke detectors and even less heat detectors which might not sound bad but there’s only 2 on the second floor which is pretty huge school and the second floor and first need way more. The smokes are these weird chainmail grid on it. The heats are the classic wheelock ones.
In the states we have tbars with 4100u/es systems which really are improvements (especially the 4100es) from the older 90s panels. The 90’s/early 2000s panels were extremely prone to programming errors and just potatoeing in general. I have a 4007es which behaves exactly like the 4100es systems and i can say for a fact it IS much better than the older stuff.
I might miss that classic 4100 the one with voice evac however the 4100es is the updated and upgraded one. But simplex are decent brand including the Edwards brand too also notifier. Except est 2 panel or QuickStart.
Simplex is still up there just only behind Notifier for my favorite manufacturer (not including the Service and a company). I think Simplex as a company is bad. I wouldn’t blame your school district for not being with Simplex because what I have heard that Simplex will bid low and do insanely high Service cost. My school district ripped out the Simplex system in my rival high school for a Notifier. Simplex lost my school district as customer probably a long time ago. The reason why Simplex is my favorite because I like the products that Simplex makes. It’s good (better then Edwards’s SuperFalty Technologies for sure)
That's JCI for you: they ruined what was once a great company. Edwards on the other hand though has had very little if _any_ faults during their history I'd say: as for the systems you might have encountered, blame the installers & techs, not the manufacturer.
Those smoke detectors are Simplex 2098-9577 models. They are basically Simplex rebranded System Sensor 1400 Ionization smoke detector. There is not difference between them. I own one of the Simplex models and they work quite well for their age
We don't replace unless it's defective or unreliable or can't get new parts for it if they are needed often times there is nothing wrong with an old system if it was to be replaced it wouldn't be a newer version of the panel it would be a notifier replacement
I hope someone breaks into your garage to swap your new Notifier out for a Simplex 4100 ES. I know how much you love Simplex lol. My elementary school I went to from 2nd to 5th grade had a Simplex 4100 U with strobe plates/ mechanical horns. The old part had System Sensor MASS 24Ms, one FS Vibratone HS. Old part had System Sensor Smokes and the new part had Simplex everything. The original part was built in 1957 and the new addition was added on in 92. Two years ago, it was all ripped out for the 4100ES with Tru Alerts. I'm so glad that my Alma Mater is phasing out all System Sensor crap. We're a Simplex/Siemens school district.
@@nics-systems-electric I'll take any system as long as it has all Wheelock notification appliances. I love the old Siemens MXL System and the old Simplex 4100U with the mechanical buzzer on the inside. You feel the same way about Simplex as I do about System Sensor. I was happy to see them be swapped out with Tru Alerts at my old elementary. Now the system will last another 30 plus. I would say though that Simplex is worse now that Johnson Controls bought them out, they're the worst.
@@whelenvortexr4 I don’t I like the product but that’s not the bad part for me all companies have issues and to be honest anything made nowadays does not last it’s more that Simplex provides terrible service and is a complete rip off for any servicing
@@nics-systems-electric My hometown is mainly a Simplex town, mainly older systems. The Catholic college in my town has all Simplex Systems, except for the post office has Notifier and there are a couple of dorms that have EST. The newest systems on campus are in the campus church, the gym, and the student center. You're correct, Simplex doesn't have the best service. I have a friend that works at a childrens hospital and they had to do a fire alarm upgrade to most of the hospital's system. He's a Siemens guy like me and the hospital had an old Cerberus Pyrotronics system and in the area his options were Simplex, EST, or Siemens. He chose Siemens for a voice evacuation system. He used to work at Simplex and they treated him horribly and he said that they also had bad service.
Those smoke detectors are exactly 1400 System Sensor smokes. They literally just have Simplex stickers on them. Not sure why they went with ionization... Simplex's 90's photo detectors were much lower profile and safer, and were made by Hochiki.
It’s just that the 2099s and 4099s are made with pretty cheap plastic that breaks easier than the 4251s. That being said, I haven’t seen anything that resets like THESE pulls before. Clearly the Murican in me is showing.
i hope that was a middle or high school. imagine if an elementary student had to pull it. they could pull themselves off the ground and still not pull it.
Yeah it’s a high school I don’t know if elementary kids in a fire would actually pull a fire alarm anyways if they know to do it I don’t even know about middle or high school to be honest
@@IanGSully Definitely it was bad five years ago when I got there I hope a power surge will take it out maybe the building will single phase again and destroyed it 😂
@@nics-systems-electric No kidding! That thing is terrible! I hope that when they replace it. You take it home, and make a video of setting that horrible thing on fire! 🤣🤣🤣
@@nics-systems-electric i have a simplex t bar and i works like a charm. also my high school has a simplex 4100U and my kiddies school has a simplex 4010. I can see why you dont like them but we all have our own oppinons.
