Stockton firefighters responded to reports of a house on fire in the early morning of Wednesday December 2nd, 2020. Engine 12 arrived on scene on North Oro to a single story, single family dwelling with fire showing from the rear of the structure. Engine 12's crew stretched an attack line, decided a point of entry closest to the fire, maintained door control while donning safety equipment, and conducted fire attack. After other crews arrived on scene, Engine 12 made entry into the structure and engaged in a demanding firefight. The blaze was extinguished without injury or incident in approximately 20 minutes after the initial call to 9-1-1.

Most organized and impressive fire department I have ever watched in action...... they get water on the fire faster than anybody.

I really like how in all their videos, they just go in and put water on fire. The faster you have water on fire, the faster your problems go away. These folks are masters of solving problems.

That’s a competent engine officer. Knocks down and buys both B & C/D corner exposures time, once more man power arrives he delegates those responsibilities, moves in with his FF, and from the door entry to knocking the seat down he is humping hose, keeping in constant communication, reassuring the nozzle, asking if he’s ready, you good buddy, pressure is good? “Yup, needs more hose” - Done, on it buddy. Cooler than the other side of the pillow the entire time.

Wow other departments could learn a lot from watching these videos. Lots of departments seemingly take forever to start the initial attack. Stockton is busy putting out tons of fires with an understaffed dept. You guys continue to amaze. Stay safe.

Great communications inside the fire area. That keeps all focused and no chanced of failure. Superb job by the Captain and a great, quick knockdown. Way too many FD’s take too long getting water on the fire. Attack line get water instantly while the interior crew gets ready. Makes such a huge difference in those 2 to 3 minutes while crew is ready.

Question from an uninformed person: when they designate the 2nd engine to help with water, what does that actually involve?
@jacobmerrill9509
@jacobmerrill9509 3 года назад
Usually it involves hooking up the first engine to a hydrant and supplying it with water. The engineer of the first engine typically is more concerned with ensuring the firefighter on the attack line has good pressure and enough hose to do his work, and the tank will last them long enough until a hydrant supply can be established. The 2nd engine usually splits their crew in two pairs, one to assist with the initial attack line (or pull a 2nd line) and one to establish the hydrant connection. This varies from dept to dept, and in areas where hydrants are farther apart, they may use their truck to establish a connection a block away and pull that line to the first engine. In area without hydrants they'll either hook up their truck to the first to transfer water, or set up a portable tank (think fold up 3000+ gallon swimming pool) for tankers to dump water in that the first engine can draw from. On larger fires, usually the third due engine will establish additional attack lines, either from apparatus on scene or their own, depending on access.

honest question, how come AMR/ ambulance people are so rude to nurses on skilled nursing facilities when they respond to a code but fire fighters are so cool and nice to the nurses?

I'm surprised old school 'hit it with a jet' is still being used on an internal attack when modern research has shown diffused spray is far more effective at cooling down superheated gases. Fine droplets are far more effective at absorbing heat. Even way back we always made far better progress in to the building using high pressure fog guns. Jets are effective from outside or from distance but for close in work diffused spray every time.

Who the hell is "WE"? Johnny and Roy? Did you even bother to see the fast knock here? Oh and by the way, FDNY also uses smoothbores, and I suppose they don't do it right either. Right???? (cues sound of crickets chirping in field...)

Smoothbore nozzles have less air entrainment then fog nozzles, NIST has proven this.
@danstrath5627
@danstrath5627 3 года назад
As steam has much greater latent heat, would a fog pattern dramatically raise the temperature inside a burning structure, potentially making it untenable?
