No matter how much we love someone, sometimes their demons and struggles are beyond our ability to save them from themselves. This was very strong and powerful... very much real life. He certainly achieved his goal of shedding light on mental health.
This video cuts deep for me. I struggle with severe depression & anxiety. My husband saved me from a suicide attempt & got me help. The harder I tried pushing him away the harder he held on.

Probably one of the toughest music videos out there and extremely relatable to a lot of folks. This is actually Chris' only music video he's ever made, that focused on a story line and not focused on him (he's the bartender in the video) His record label kept pushing him to make an official video and he wanted to do it on his terms. He chose this song with one goal in mind - To shed light on mental health and bring awareness to something so many people unfortunately deal with. One love, bro 👊
Mental illness is a 24/7/365 pain. We in the Country music community suffered a great lost in April. Mother/Daughter Group - The Judds took Country music by a storm in the 80’s and 90’s! Walking barefoot through cornstalks is a brilliant visual for mental illness. Searching a cornfield and running to save someone in said cornstalks is a brilliant visual for living with a loved one with mental illness. Really well-done video. Thanks.
Coming from a mother of a son who struggles with Bi-Polar & other mental illness this hits home. 1 minute they can be manic & the next depressed. Makes it difficult for anyone to live through for them & loved ones. In this he loved her so much he just wanted her to aim all of it to him saying he could take it, for her not to hurt herself. It's hard to know that nothing takes away that struggle they have inside of them. I just thank God everyday that I still have my son even after so many attempts. He just had the angels watching over him and I am so grateful.

I reacted exactly the same way the first time I watched this. Btw, it wasn't until the second time I watched it that I realized that Chris is the bartender in the video. I have to question anyone's emotional wellbeing that isn't shaken by this. That was the intent of the video from the first discussions with his record label. As hard as it is to watch, it achieves its goal of making the viewer empathetic to the poor souls suffering with mental illness and that of the people that love them. Another genuine reaction. This is one you shoulda reacted to without the music video that just ruins the song and had nothing to do with the song he wrote. Someone in a meeting came up with the video concept which in my opinion was extremely shit and ruins the song.
